2.0.7 Steam Deck update

A small update, but an important one for the Steam Deck. This one is so small that we didn't even change the version number:

* Updated text entry boxes to activate the software keyboard on Steam Deck and in Big Picture mode

2.0.7 hotfix patch notes

This small update fixes an issue with checking expansion ownership on macOS. Internally it includes an update to the latest version of the Steam API on all platforms.

Update 2.0.7 Patch Notes

Update 2.0.7 contains a few minor fixes and improvements. As always, we appreciate the bug reports you send in that help us track down any issues you run into while playing.

The fixes in this update, In no particular order:

  • Fix several instances where a player might be prompted to pick a player to discard, pick a card to discard, or pick a player to draw cards during the showdown.
  • Remove the WASD, Q, and E keys from keyboard navigation. They were unnecessary and this was causing problems with some text input fields. You can still navigate using arrow keys.
  • Change the hotkey for opening the menu to Menu key instead of the backquote key.
  • Fixed the handling of 'Shift Left' and 'Shift Right' to also support 'Previous Field' and 'Next Field' controls, so tab/shift-tab can move through fields properly.
  • Fixed a crash that was occurring when using game controller bumper buttons on the Showdown screen.
  • Made slight adjustments to button sprite offsets for controllers so they are more consistent across different types of controllers..
  • The card selection indicator should now be properly hidden in the moments after a card is played.
  • Using Winter Lady Molly's "Power of the Lady" talent to modify the die roll on one of Susan Rodriguez's infected card rolls will no longer lock up the game.
  • Thickened up the outline on left/right text toggles.
  • If "Alphas to the Rescue" defeats a foe when another foe is in the next column, the next foe will now correctly also receive hits.
  • Removed the 'onward' button when from the game type selection screen. It was unnecessary and confusing.
  • There is now an optional "Utility" button on the character selection dialog, which can be used to preview discards, or other (known) information. Implemented this for Ra's Imbued Fire when selecting a character to draw from discards and other cards that draw from discards.
  • Don't let the player resign while showing the setup sequence. This should prevent some issues with getting stuck in pre-game planning that sometimes occurs after a redeal in solitaire games.
  • The focus indicator when using controllers or keyboard navigation is now blingy and beautiful, and a lot more visible.
  • "Try Again" after a defeat now works correctly when playing with more than two players in a hotseat game.

Update 2.0.6 is here!

Version 2.0.6 is here. This update includes a number of bug fixes and some minor UI improvements.

  • A player can only draw cards if their draw pile isn't empty. Discards are no longer reshuffled into the draw pile.
  • When drawing cards, only draw as many as are available in the draw pile.
  • When prompting to pick a character to draw cards, filter out characters with no cards in their draw pile.
  • Defeat screen: fix bug with try again button not triggering.
  • The 'bug report' and 'dice test' option descriptions are no longer swapped.
  • The control to toggle the "don't show this again" option on the book synopsis now also works to turn the toggle off as well as on.
  • Dragging cards when viewing zoomed cards now shows the card being dragged when the table is set to use low-detail cards.
  • Bugfix: viewing the next or previous zoomed card when the table is set to use low-detail cards now works correctly.
  • Numerous fixes to when the current selection indicator is displayed.
  • Fullscreen resolution options can now be selected with mouse clicks.
  • Achievement and dice roll stats are included in bug reports.
  • Consult with Vaderrung now works correctly with game controllers.
  • Mouse's Foo Dog can only be used if at least one player can discard and at least one player can draw cards.
  • Mouse's Foo Dog will now only allow selecting players to draw cards that actually have cards in their draw pile.
  • Timely Assist only allows selecting characters who have cards remaining in their draw pile.
  • Timely Assist can only be played if someone has cards in their draw pile.
  • The character selection dialog can no longer be canceled with esc/gamepad in instances where selection is required.
  • Moving to the next/previous section in the options with a keyboard now uses Q/E instead of TAB/Shift-TAB as hotkeys, so it doesn't conflict with advancing to the next field.
  • Added an indicator on the table for the number cards in each player's draw pile.
  • Type-in boxes in Options should now have more robust cross-platform UX.
  • Join/Host online games show the correct remote player selections when first starting up.
  • In a 2-player networked game, the guest players also see their hand cards during pre-game planning.
  • Fixed the layout for the Book Synopsis Dialog on narrow screens.
  • In a 2-player network game, the card that was just played/discarded for fate is removed from the table correctly at the time of play instead of waiting to update until that player's next turn.
  • When using low-detail cards on the table, cards now zoom in and out using the correct sorting order.
  • The selection indicator should no longer show up when viewing defeated foes / solved cases and not using a game controller.
  • Updated the character selection dialog so it doesn't look like characters are selected when they aren't.
  • Join Private Game and LAN Games screens should now have tab navigation of fields.
  • Fixed a typo in the name for selecting French language. It now reads Français instead of "Françias"
  • Improved the responsiveness when entering the direct connect server address.

Release 2.0.3

In version 2.0.3 we've added some frequently requested features from our backlog to go with the regular fixes. Version 2.0.3 is generally compatible for network play with all the version 2.0 updates.

  • At the start of games, you can now read the cover synopsis from the book.
  • After being defeated during a game, a Try Again button is available to replay the scenario with the same character and book selections. Network multiplayer games don't automatically reconnect players with this feature (yet).
  • We added a new alternative RNG option in the settings for solitaire / hotseat games for those who feel like the current RNG is being unfair. This is not yet available in network games.
  • During game setup, the book deck selection has a quick summary of the cards in the book similar to character selection.
  • When you zoom in to get a closer view of cards in your hand or on the table, the entire hand or row of cards will zoom in, allowing you to quickly browse through them at higher detail.

Bugs fixed and smaller changes in this update:

  • The button to view the log on the victory and defeat screens works once again.
  • Turned off the selection indicator for game controller in a number of places when a gamepad isn't in use.
  • The missing final step in the tutorial was added back in so it no longer feels like it ends abruptly.
  • Susan's Infected variant is no longer incorrectly modified by Running on Fumes in Side Jobs.
  • The pre-game planning state should be less prone to getting stuck when Harry's player starts the game while the other players are examining the board. Other players now have to explicitly press the start button after Harry does to advance to the game.
  • The dialogs when a player disconnects from multiplayer has a new style matching the rest of the UI.
  • The table of contents in the Manual works a little better.
  • Game controllers work better when trying to find Steam games.
  • "The Ways" in Side Jobs now works properly when using a game controller.
  • Some options now have extended descriptions to explain what they do - mostly this is for explaining game difficulty options.
  • Obstacles that are highlighted because they might affect a card being played are no longer able to be selected as the target of that play if they are out of range.
  • Ambient background audio correctly uses the ambient volume setting when a new track starts.
  • Added a new confirmation before starting solitaire / hotseat games to help prevent accidentally move to the game stage before finishing character selection.
  • Luccio's Pyromantic Precision and Strategy cards can now be discarded correctly when using a game controller.
  • Resigning a game after meeting the victory conditions are tracked as a victory instead of as a loss.
  • When a game starts, the Showdown card for the book is now displayed to make it more apparent that the Showdown rules are different for each book.
  • The tutorial has some new additions to help explain the Showdown.
  • It is now possible to select cards that are not part of the current action during the Showdown for side effects like adding a Clue to a Case or a Hit to a Foe.
