Beta 2.7.1 - New Combat Test Build Updates

Today's update is for the test build for the new combat system. Includes a bunch of fixes and improvements. I'm feeling really good about how it plays and I think it should be out in the wild later this week!

For now, if you would like to check out the new combat system, you can get it by doing the following:

1. In the Steam Client Library where it lists all of your games, right click on HammerHelm
2. Click Preferences
3. In the window that opens, select the "Betas" Tab
4. Enter the password to download this build - NewCombatTest - and click Check Code
5. You should get a message that the code is correct
6. Click the drop-down box and select BigUpdateTest

Steam should immediately start a new download with the test client. The new game should be called "HammerHelm [bigupdatetest]". Once the download is complete you can launch the game!

Today's build includes:

  • Improved the transition animation between ending one string of attack combos and starting another. If you continued to hold down left mouse button, the previous version of the animation ended and then went into the idle animation before starting the next attack combo. That's why you see the hitch in the above gif on the left. The right side is the new transition.
  • Fixed a bunch of bugs related to fighting the skeletons and the Orc Boss in the Orc Quest.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the kick attack to fail if you pressed a WASD key.
  • Fixed a bug that let you do a Dash Attack before equipping a helmet.
  • Updated all of the weapon descriptions to state what their power attack is.
  • Turned off status effects for Spellcasters as they are way too easy to kill if you can knock them down or stun them. Consider this spellcasters ability to cast a protection spell on themselves. I need to add this to the tutorial UI.
  • A bunch of other fixes and tweaks to improve the look of combat.

To get back to the live build:

1. In the Steam Client Library where it lists all of your games, right click on HammerHelm
2. Click Preferences
3. In the window that opens, select the "Betas" Tab
4. Choose “None” from the drop down
5. Steam should then revert back to the Alpha client
