We Were Here Too News

September News

How is everyone doing? It's been a busy month but we've been making steady progress. In fact, we can finally reveal some exciting news... at the end of this post ;)
What are we up to right now?
We can tell you that we're participating in the Tokyo Game Show this year, with some awesome news! If you aren't following the event, you can find it at the end of this post as well. The Tokyo Game Show is always an exciting event with some big announcements and trailers to enjoy - and we're always curious to see what's popular in other parts of the world. We'd love to attract new We Were Here fans from Japan and Asia more generally! If you'd like to check out the event yourself, Inverse has a nice article on how and when to watch.

Which announcements are you hyped for?

How the show looked in years past. It's all online for 2020.
Are you a notetaker?
Some of the puzzles in our games can be more easily solved with the aid of pen and paper, as player QAQAQAQAQ has discovered. Some great drawings here!

We're pleased to see people taking notes, because the We Were Here series is inspired in part by the legacy of classic adventure game Myst - did you know that Myst actually came with a notepad in the game box itself! You can see a cool image of someone's notes from this fun Reddit thread!
Last but not least...
We have a great announcement for console fans today - those of you following our social media might already have figured it out - the We Were Here series is coming to PlayStation 4 soon! No dates yet, but we'll let you know whenever we have something firmed up. Follow our social media for all the latest news and We Were Here developments! And don't forget: keep your eyes open, because we will probably have more hidden messages in the coming months...

Do you see the circle in this image? There were four other images that had a triangle, cross and square. Put them together, and you got the PS4 controller buttons!

Talking to you!

We have released an update for We Were Here Too, which brings a new voice chat system to the game.
Agora voice chat implementation
We have teamed up with Agora.io to bring you a new chat system! Our switch to the Agora voice chat system doesn't require anything from you as a player - but some people who had trouble with the previous system might find their walkie-talkies performing better now!

In case you missed it, our producer Geoff van den Ouden joined a V-Chat event hosted by Agora. You can catch up on YouTube. Topics included how the current restrictions brought on by COVID-19 are skyrocketing the demand for interactive gaming apps, a bit of personal backstory, and valuable tips to increase session times and user retention by adding live voice and video directly into their game.

The release of this update also means we are ending support for Linux and 32 bit versions of We Were Here Too. You might have noticed this already happened for the other We Were Here games. We know many people are still playing We Were Here and We Were Too for the first time - we see people making screenshots, for instance!

Like this recent one from player Parallel Platypus...

This stained glass window is just one of many paintings, drawings, and stained glass scenes to find as you explore.

Have a great day!

June News Update
Good things are on the way...
Thanks to everyone who filled out the We Were Here series survey earlier this year! We've been poring over the results, and there's some fascinating stuff and great feedback.

The results from the We Were Here survey have been very informative - there's a lot of solid feedback there. Feedback that we can take in for our next project. We're really looking forward to sharing stuff with you as soon as we can!
Thanks again to everyone who took the time to fill it out! It really helps us define our path to next development chapter.. more on that in due course. Also a shout out to the brave 193 people (20% of respondents) who said that 'jump scares' are what they enjoy most in puzzles :D

Check out this great fan art by player Fenris!
We Were Here Together now also on Xbox One!
We just released We Were Here Together for Xbox One, and we're already busy on more exciting things...

To celebrate the release, We Were Here Too is currently 50% off here on Steam! If you or a friend don't own the game yet, now's the time :)

That's all the news for now. Before signing off, we wanted to share this interestingly edited image by player Ensh'eass.

Cheers!

Find a Valentine's Day puzzle partner!

Valentine’s Day is coming up this Friday, and we want to try our hand at making some matches! We've put together a short survey that we think can find out exactly what you're looking for.

Whether you are looking for a special someone, a new friend, or just a friendly co-op partner, we will try to find the perfect match and help you organize a session of co-op puzzle solving in
a We Were Here game! Solving puzzles together has got to be a great way to get to know someone, right?

We will even enter you into a raffle for a Steam keys for We Were Here Too or our latest game We Were Here Together!
