Update 1.5: Return of the Burrows

Greetings, Goblin Chieftains!




We’re pleased to bring you a small but significant update as we continue to improve Goblins of Elderstone.
Our team has been hard at work enhancing features and tackling pesky bugs to ensure you have the best gaming experience possible.
We’ve added a powerful new crash reporter tool to help us gather better data on bugs and crashes, allowing us to address future issues more effectively and keep your gameplay smooth and enjoyable.

• Reenabled burrows with improved navigation, goblins will now physically travel through a tunnel below the map at increased speed instead of teleporting.
• Destroying a Burrows while a goblin is using it will allow them to exit via the entrance, if both are destroyed then any goblins using the tunnel will be killed.
• Trade merchant courtyard now has animations, and the turtle is better centered when settling down for trade.
• Updated crash reporter for better bug tracking, added some custom art to the crash reporter.

[h3]Bug Fixes: [/h3]
• Work efficiency on the Worg den UI is fixed.
• Incorrect skeleton count in the enemy's notification has been fixed.
• Added some new unstuck code for more fixes/detection for how goblins can resolve their state if their pathfinding fails.
• Added a fix for some empty notifications that could be loaded from a save.

Major Update 1.4 - The King’s New Clothes

Greetings, Dearest Goblins!🍻

Get ready to experience a royal upgrade! This update brings an exciting new dynamic to your goblin village with the introduction of the Weaver and Tailor buildings. Now, your weavers will craft the finest cloth while the tailors turn it into stylish clothes fit for any goblin. We've also added a new resource, Armor, to bolster your war units' defense. Plus, with building placement restrictions removed, you can now design your village layout more freely than ever before. Enjoy the revamped visuals of the Trade Hall courtyard and watch your goblin civilization flourish in new ways!

But that's not all! We have fine-tuned several aspects of gameplay for a smoother experience. Warm Clothes now better protect against the cold, and sickness mechanics have been consolidated for a more streamlined approach. Expect the Traveling Merchant every spring and enjoy the improved UI with new confirmation prompts and a handy toggle for tutorials. Notable bug fixes include smoother goblin mining animations and better FPS performance. ⚠️ Due to some ongoing issues with burrows we have decided to temporarily remove burrows for now.

  • Split the Weaver building into a Weaver and Tailor building.
  • Added new resource 'Armor' which is used by some advanced War units to reduce damage taken.
  • Removed the placement restriction for buildings to allow for more free-form village layouts.
  • Updated the visuals for the Trade hall courtyard and reduced its size.

[h3]➥ Balancing:[/h3]
  • Changed Warm Clothes to reduce the effects of cold instead of giving a temporary health boost.
  • Disease and Sickness have been merged.
  • Traveling Merchant will now come in spring regardless of if your Trade hall is built, but you may only purchase from them if you have a Trade Prince active.
  • Imprisoned and trekking goblins now both block a player from reassigning those goblins, they have also been moved to the bottom of the 'All Goblins' filter in the Roster.
  • Changed rosters to automatically filter goblins by their relevant stat for a job by default.
  • Food and Sleep decreases slower over time.
  • Storage capacity has been increased.
  • Corpses can now rise regardless of season and will do so after a fixed time irrelevant of winter.
  • Need resources changes.

  • Goblin voice lines have been lowered at further distances increasing their falloff.

[h3]➥ UI Changes:[/h3]
  • Added in some confirmation UI when selecting a habitat that is missing some resources.
  • Added a toggle for Default tutorials to the options menu.
  • Selecting a Warrens will now highlight all the goblins which live there and show their active task paths.
  • Updated some controls for the default system for closing UI, which is now Right Click instead of left.
  • Updated functionality related to assignment and designment of goblins.
  • Layout changed for the resource dropdowns.
  • Font fixes in several UI.
  • Goblin inspect UI now remembers where it was last positioned.

[h3]➥ Bug Fixes:[/h3]
  • Fixed a stuttering issue with goblin mining animations.
  • Refactored all materials used by goblins to reduce draw calls and increase FPS.
  • Human Warbands will no longer drop Leather in their loot table.
  • Fixed hero portraits being blocked by their War/Trade/Faith UI.
  • Added a snow deformation decal to the Trade hall courtyard so that it is more visible when placing in Winter.
  • Fixed an issue with lighting being active while placing buildings.
  • Due to some ongoing issues with burrows we have decided to temporarily remove burrows for now.

Dev Letter - What's Next?

We're excited to share with you all what's in the works for Goblins of Elderstone and update you on our roadmap. We have so much planned. We recently released our first major feature update for the year, called Rule the Chaos. It's been one of the most impactful updates so far and features some of the most requested changes.
There's been a major rework to how Satisfaction and Rioting function, shifting away from rioting to what we call Chaos Actions.

We've also rebalanced various conditions and how they affect the goblins' moods. We've simplified these goblin moods by removing happiness, respect, laziness, and aggression. Now, the main satisfaction of a goblin is focus.
Understanding each of your goblins will be more straightforward, and their conditions will clearly show how they affect this satisfaction. To match this design update, we've revamped the goblin stat's UI with a more streamlined and user-friendly look, along with improved and informative built-in tooltips.

There has also been an extensive pass done on gameplay balancing, affecting almost every aspect of the game. You can check out the full details on our patch notes.
A fun new creature has been added to the traveling merchant; be sure to keep an eye out for them in the game.

We are already busy working on our next major feature update, called Divine Tech. This will introduce a new approach to gameplay, with improvements to the role of the gods and the building progression tree.
Following that, we will be working on an update called Treks of Elderstone, which will introduce a new track management system, and improvements to our goblin population usage mechanics. We'd also like to give a huge shout-out to all our players and fans on Discord.
