  • New ability Leave the House has been added, which allows players to expel themselves from previously occupied dwellings
  • Reduced by half the amount of time required for skill level up (0-30, 30-60 and so on)
  • Set speed of terraforming abilities to a constant two seconds
  • Decreased the Traveler’s Idol abilities cooldown to two hours

  • Chance of pike sliding off from an enemy horse now decreases by 50% after reaching lvl 60 Spearman
  • Lower chance of falling has been moved to Cavalry lvl 60 (used to be 90)
  • Rotation speed has been increased for all horses (regular horses 70->100; simple warhorse 90->120; hardy warhorse 75->100; spirited warhorse 100->150; heavy warhorse 50->90; royal warhorse 55->95; moose 70->100; courier horse 90->130)

Dear feudalists!
In our previous announcement we’ve mentioned one final update for Life is Feudal: MMO. As it reaches final testing, we would like to provide you with more detailed information on what’s coming. Remember, that all of the changes are still in our internal tests and can be subject to change based on the results of your feedback.
As was requested, terraforming abilities will have their duration decreased dramatically. Premium decorations will have their recipes altered in order for them to be available for construction without Decorator’s Kits. Traveler’s Idol will have its cooldown reduced to two hours. Armor recipe costs will be reduced for higher tiers (heavy and royal).
Now, for the combat update. You may have seen previously the hint of mounted archers. Indeed, Composite Bow will now be unlocked on level 90 of Cavalry. It will be the only bow available to use while mounted.
We’re also moving most of the throwing weapons to different classes as a back-up weapon: throwing knives can be used by spearmen, throwing axes by huscarls, and javelins by vanguards. We also want each tier of Archery skill tree (Thrower-Archer-Ranger) to provide access to bows and crossbows, instead of them being available only to the last two tiers. While we’re on the topic of general changes, there are plans to switch the armor available to each class in order to shift the currently established meta: cavalry will have plate armor which should make them even more sustainable to piercing damage, spearmen will have access to scale armor, swordsmen will be able to equip padded armor, and berserkers now should have chainmail tunics for better speed instead of heavy plates. Additionally, we’re hoping to give combo more interesting plays by expanding the time window of a successful combo.
A bunch of weapons will receive tweaks on damage dealt in order to go with those changes. The exact numbers and full list of changes will be, as usual, available once the update is live.

Dear feudalists!

We are forced to close Life is Feudal: MMO.

  Yes, that’s it, we have to close it, and we have to do it because of the reasons that are beyond our control.
  A couple of days ago we received an official letter from a certain company that basically says that they will stop paying us our share from LiF: MMO. There is nothing much we can do in a legal way since we do not have the required funds to pay for the costly legislation in the US. Especially in a situation where our own hard-earned money will be most probably used against us.
  Back in 2016, this company was preparing its first steps as a publisher and a video games investor. From our perspective, we believed in them and thought that a publisher who is making its first steps will be more motivated and more flexible in a way how they can publish and market our hardcore niche MMO.
  It resulted in some hectic marketing and PR attempts, partly misused marketing budget, and failing to fulfill some of their obligations. In the end, we had to make our own attempt to establish operations in the CIS region, work by ourselves with a PR agency, and try to grow our own marketing department.
  We knew pretty well that there is no way we can force them to do what they had to but didn’t want to do. Thus, we’ve maintained this status quo, where we were basically left alone dealing with the game and continued our own attempts to promote it.
  This status quo persisted until recently we’ve received the communications from this company offering a certain deal. After some negotiations, we’ve realized that this deal possesses certain risks for us, and we’re not interested in it. Thus, we’ve refused their offers.
  That is when things “went south”. We’ve felt ourselves under great business, legal, and financial pressure. This pressure didn't work.
  But it also means that, unfortunately, we can no longer pay for the servers, GM, and online support and, effectively, we cannot continue updating the game. There is nothing much we can do in this situation, and we’re simply forced to close the game.

So what is going to happen next?

  We plan to bring all servers down on the 18th of January 2021 - shortly after the 3rd year anniversary of Life is Feudal: MMO release on Steam.
  Before that, we plan to release a patch with what was prepared by us before and is ready to be released. It is not a fully complete patch, but it should provide some fresh experience for you in the last days of Life is Feudal: MMO.
  Our GM team will also accept requests for aerial screenshots of your villages/towns/castles/bases. We plan to immortalize them along with screenshots of other castles from previous wipes on our site gallery.
  We’re incredibly thankful for the journey you’ve taken alongside us during those years. We’ve heard stories about friendships and families forged on the vast spaces of Avalon, Epleland, Skjultland, Buyan, Telmun, Iriy, and Godenland, and we appreciate the part we were able to play in your lives, it is a true honor. The amount of support you’ve shown to us throughout this time is incredible. We send you our limitless gratitude and apologize for letting you down like this.

  It is a powerful blow for us, but we will stand as a team, and as a family! We cannot promise it to you as “soon”, but please do expect some news from us in the not so distant future!
  We expect that you have a lot of questions - we’ll try to cover some of them below.

    Can we still play LiF:MMO?
    The servers will continue to work as usual until January 18th, 2021.

    Will Illa-Newydd be available?
    On January 18th, both Godenland and Illa-Newydd will be closed for public access.

    What happens with our premium currency?
    You should not be able to purchase new currency, but will be able to spend the one you currently have for further purchases (such as skins, boosters, etc.)

    What happens with our premium subscriptions?
    All subscriptions will be canceled. We’ve started the process this Monday and expect that all accounts will be processed by the end of this week. We recommend you check the status of your subscription by yourself and cancel it if needed.
    We also activated a free premium subscription for every account until worlds are closed.

    Can we expect any refunds?
    All the refunds are processed, as usual, on the Xsolla side at https://help.xsolla.com. Xsolla has our permission for the refund of any premium currency and subscription that was done in the last 45 days (purchases made after November 1st).

    Will there be a world wipe for the last month?
    There are no plans to perform either partial or full world wipe before closing the servers.

    Will there be any updates for LiF: MMO?
    Yes and no. The planned update is unfinished, but we will separate the changes that we hope will provide entertaining PvP gameplay for the last days of Life is Feudal: MMO. We will provide details about this later. But since we’re forced to close the game you should not expect any updates after its closure.

    Will there be any world rules update?
    We will no longer issue bans or warnings based on the PvP world rules violation. Using movable objects to get inside enemy claims will be legal again. Make sure to have a LOT of unlimited PvP fun during those last days of LiF: MMO!

    Can we expect any changes in the JH/HJH system?
    We intend to set most of the active guilds to rank 1 until the worlds are closed (excluding the Christmas holidays). It should give you enough time to enjoy the carnage. The holidays JH disabling should remain unaffected.

    Does this situation involve Life is Feudal: Your Own and/or Life is Feudal: Forest Village?
    No, those games remain unaffected and will still be playable.

    Does this mean there will be a LiF:YO update?
    It is hard to predict whether there will be an official update for Your Own right now, due to the differences between the two projects. There is no final decision on this topic yet.

    What about the LiF: MMO version that has been deployed for the Chinese market? Can we play it?
    This version is being developed in partnership with Tiancity and should not be affected by this issue. However, it is not publicly available yet. We recommend you keep an eye on updates on their site: https://lif.tiancity.com/

    What about the new engine you’ve talked about on your last AMA?
    This project should not be affected by this issue and is still being developed. There is nothing much we can tell so far, but you should expect some news next year.

Winter 2020 Creative Competition


Hey feudalists!
As the winter draws near, we have decided to prepare a special event for this occasion. We know well that you are a creative bunch with lots of amazing ideas, so the competition we’ve planned will test those creative minds as you will work together to create something special and memorable.

Event duration:
Winter 2020 Creative Competition begins today (2020-12-11) and will be held until the end of December (2020-12-31). Winners will be announced in the first half of January 2021.

Competition rules:
The goal is to use various materials (soil, clay and various minerals) in combination with small movable objects, such as barrels, crates, etc, to create large ‘drawings’ on the ground surface.
  1. The drawings should be roughly the size of a single fief. The theme of these drawings is, as you’ve probably guessed it, winter.
  2. There are no limitations as to what materials you can use. We’ve chosen this form to provide you with creative freedom where you can use a relatively wide palette of colors to create something unique in addition with small movable objects.
  3. The making of the art should be documented with screenshots/videos, and once the works are done and the drawing is finished, they should be uploaded to a shared google gallery and link to it submitted either via email [email protected] or by sending it via discord directly to Arrakis#0001 or SolarTriangle#0618 with information about the creators and the location of this art. After that, we will make a final, bird view screenshot.
  4. Works will be rated by the Life is Feudal team and the top 3 works will receive premium rewards.

Hello, Feudalists!
The Christmas holidays are coming, which means that most of you will be away in two weeks to meet with your families and friends. And even though life is feudal, sometimes everyone needs a break. That’s why we plan to disable claim maintenance on Thursday, December 24th, and will enable them back on January 7th. During that time both personal and guild claims shouldn’t consume Support Points, which, unfortunately, means that production from outposts will be halted. Judgement Hours will also be disabled for the holidays. We will also decrease the amount of breeding maintenances from five per day to one (meaning that there will be 24 hours between each breeding ticks). The forest and crops calendar will remain unchanged.
Now, about the next update. Unfortunately, we ran into some issues while working on it, so now we’re figuring out what we can salvage in order to deliver at least part of what was planned.

We’re also happy to say that development of our own game engine has made significant progress from the last time it was mentioned. In fact, a couple of weeks ago we held an internal test to check connection stability to a server. It still has a long way to go until it can be utilized, but this is something we’re very proud of, so we just couldn’t wait to share it with you.
Lastly on the news topic, many of you asked us about the development of the version available in China. According to our partners in Tiancity, we’re very close to the finish line. Recent closed beta-test provided us with invaluable feedback. We’re looking forward to the next events hosted by Tiancity!
Speaking of events, we would like to host one on our own! We plan to hold a creative competition with a goal to share your artistic side with us through in-game construction and terraforming. The details on this will be provided later through a separate announcement, so stay tuned!
