Dev News #183

Hello, Feudalists!
In case you’ve missed our latest patch notes, check them out here. And in today’s dev blog, we will explain the changes a bit more.
After two weeks of observation and communication, we’ve brought back the previously disabled /stuck command. We were able to analyze the most common cases where it was actually required to improve how it works. Hopefully, now it can only be your helper in a situation where your character cannot move — and nothing more.
A second major change is, of course, the cooldown for monument construction after it was destroyed. Some of you were asking, which is why we’re, hopefully, making it clear: the cooldown is applied in any case of monument loss. That includes the monument’s lack of support points. For those of you, who want to keep their monuments alive, we’ve implemented the automated messages earlier, that should notify you whenever your monument is getting close to insufficient points. The cooldown also means that any guild is forbidden from placing a monument on that fief for the duration. However, anyone can place an outpost there.
In case any of you don’t know the reason behind this change, it has been requested many times by the active PvP community because a quick monument reconstruction allowed to avoid the Judgement Hour. We’re hoping that with this change we’re getting one step forward on the “fair play” stair.
As the Holidays are nearly there, we want you to enjoy your time with your close ones in peace, without worrying about wars in the game. This is why Judgement Hour will be disabled from December 24th until January 9th.

Now for the community spot!
This week we want to share the view from the territory of constantly growing kingdom ‘Seigneurie D Amance’. The design of their settlements, where you can find a multitude of attractions, such as arenas, is quite inspiring. You can see what we mean in this gallery.

We wish you a great weekend and Merry Christmas!

Patch Notes (0.25.30.0)

Hello, Feudalists!

After a considerate discussion based on your feedback, we’re bringing changes to the last update. Thank you all for providing us with detailed information on how these modifications influenced your gameplay!

Patch Notes (ver. 0.25.30.0):
New Features and Tweaks:
• /stuck command is available, but with modifications that should restrict its usage to the cases where it is actually needed
    • Developer’s comment: we’re hoping that now /stuck will get you out of a situation where your character cannot move while not having any effect outside of such cases.
  • Destroying a monument now starts a week-long cooldown on the fief where it was placed before. Any monuments’ placement is forbidden there while the timer is active
    • Developer’s comment: a lot of complaints were based upon the fact that some guilds are able to bring down the monument and rebuild it again to avoid the Judgement Hours. Now, a destroyed monument will mean a lost fief — until you can take it back. And to clarify: this cooldown does not trigger when building an outpost in said fief.
  • A fief won’t get transferred as a result of a lost IB if it has been captured by another guild before the battle starts
    • Developer’s comment: the previous behavior for this situation was not intended by us. This is more of a fix, really.
  • Christmas decorations were added to the trader carts and to all villages
    • Developer’s comment: and some of them might have something to say.
Bug Fixes and Optimizations:
• Implemented a system that should prevent arenas’ failure to start

Dev News #182

Hello, Feudalists!

We’ve received your feedback regarding our latest update and considered it carefully. The topic of /stuck command was a hot one and we have spent a good amount of time figuring out how to best approach this issue to resolve it in the best way possible. The solution to this problem is already in production and we’ll deliver it in an upcoming update. More details will follow as we release this patch within the next couple of weeks.
There’s also some good news that will certainly improve the mood of the Steam users. We are working on the launcher improvements for clients on Steam platform, which should significantly reduce the time needed to download and update the client.

The next thing we want to mention is a known issue that is of high concern to the LiF community, particularly a number of individuals that resorted to cheating in our game with the use of third party software in order to gain an unfair advantage over others. We’ve recently suspended accounts of those players abusing said illegal software and more punishments will follow for all players that will run their game clients with this mod enabled. Account suspension for the accounts banned early this week will be lifted in 3 months, in March 2020. Should the incident repeat on these accounts after the ban is lifted, the next will be permanent. We will continue enforcing fair play in Life is Feudal: MMO, so all players can enjoy balanced gameplay where everyone is on the same playfield.

Thank you! And keep `em coming, we’re always happy to see your creations!

We wish everyone a great weekend!

Dev News #181

Hello, Feudalists!
Starting with the dev progress - We have just recently released an update with some tweaks and long-awaited changes. One of the most notable and highly demanded combat mechanics adjustments was disabling the ability to wield two shields at the same time. We have also further tweaked lag compensation mechanics and will continue to observe the effectiveness of those changes. You can check the full list of the recent fixes and tweaks in our patch notes.

There’s another thing happening this week, and that’s Black Friday! We already have some great discounts in our shop. We’ve got several of them planned for the rest of the week, so don’t forget to check on what’s available!

Black Friday isn’t the only thing to keep you busy this weekend, though. We want to remind you about an upcoming Grand Knight Tournament that will start tomorrow, 30-11-2019 at 17:00 UTC. You can still register for transfer (both ways) by filling in this form. Note that the transfer registration will be closed today at 20:00 UTC, so if you want to be teleported to the coliseum, make sure to register before that time. Details about the competitions and rewards can be found in our previous devblog and our discord mmo_event_feed channel.

Please note that the NPC commemorating Dannara was slightly repositioned and is now located in front of the school within the same starting village in s31.

Thanks for all the feedback and have a great weekend everyone!

Patch Notes (0.25.29.0)

Hello, Feudalists!

Today, we’re bringing you some experimental changes. We want to see how well are they going to bode into the current gameplay meta before settling on on them for good. This means we’re gonna need your feedback to see how you feel about those changes!
And now, for the full list of updates:

Patch Notes (ver. 0.25.29.0):
New Features and Tweaks:
  • /stuck command has been disabled
    • Developer’s comment: With the climbing system implemented, it seems that this command gives more abusing power than it does help in-game. We want to see whether it’s worth it to keep it in the game or not.
  • Only one shield can be equipped by a player
    • Developer’s comment: The double-tower-shield turtling is something that, in our opinion, favors one gameplay style over the others. We intend to fix that with this change.
  • Damage resist of wooden walls has been decreased from 150 to 130
  • Blast damage from a sapper charge has been increased
    • Developer’s comment: Wooden walls should not provide such strong protection against sapper charges, as they do now. Those updates will work in pair to fix that.
  • An NPC to commemorate Dannara Stella has been added to Zathum-Zar starting village
    • Developer’s comment: We wrote about the loss of our player a couple of dev blogs back. Now we’re bringing her to the game as an NPC, so that her friends could have a way to remember her any time they log in.
Bug Fixes and Optimizations:
  • Lag compensation system has been tweaked
    • Developer’s comment: We’re aiming to bring a more enjoyable in-game combat with this change, so let us know how it works for you
  • Added ability to mass-produce to most of the crafting recipes
  • Updated translations for the following languages:
    • Czech
    • German
    • Hungarian
    • Italian
    • Polish
    • Portuguese
