Dev News #193

Hello, Feudalists!
The Christmas holidays are coming, which means that most of you will be away in two weeks to meet with your families and friends. And even though life is feudal, sometimes everyone needs a break. That’s why we plan to disable claim maintenance on Thursday, December 24th, and will enable them back on January 7th. During that time both personal and guild claims shouldn’t consume Support Points, which, unfortunately, means that production from outposts will be halted. Judgement Hours will also be disabled for the holidays. We will also decrease the amount of breeding maintenances from five per day to one (meaning that there will be 24 hours between each breeding ticks). The forest and crops calendar will remain unchanged.
Now, about the next update. Unfortunately, we ran into some issues while working on it, so now we’re figuring out what we can salvage in order to deliver at least part of what was planned.
Here’s a little teaser:

We’re also happy to say that development of our own game engine has made significant progress from the last time it was mentioned. In fact, a couple of weeks ago we held an internal test to check connection stability to a server. It still has a long way to go until it can be utilized, but this is something we’re very proud of, so we just couldn’t wait to share it with you.
Lastly on the news topic, many of you asked us about the development of the version available in China. According to our partners in Tiancity, we’re very close to the finish line. Recent closed beta-test provided us with invaluable feedback. We’re looking forward to the next events hosted by Tiancity!
Speaking of events, we would like to host one on our own! We plan to hold a creative competition with a goal to share your artistic side with us through in-game construction and terraforming. The details on this will be provided later through a separate announcement, so stay tuned!

That’s it for today’s devblog! Have a great weekend everyone!

Dev News #192

Hello, Feudalists!
After a period of silence, we would like to get you up to date on what the future holds for Life is Feudal: MMO. Our first and foremost priority right now is a combat update. While we’re not ready to give details about the planned changes just yet, we can certainly say that they will include horse resistance tweaks, some weapon and armor updates, and more! As always, stay tuned for more information on this.
Other changes that are currently in work will include: tweaks to Crown prices, improvements for personal claim mechanics, new ability to remove owner’s cooldown on your mounts and carts, ability to expel yourself from the currently occupied house and rework for a system that governs opening doors and gates. These changes might not be delivered all at once, but rather in a bunch of smaller updates, depending on our progress and their state.
We would also like to mention that Life is Feudal will be a part of ChinaJoy festival this year, as we’re getting closer and closer to launching on the Chinese market with each passing week!

Now for the community spot! A new article from our old-time player, [MIG]Device_RU is now available! This time, you can learn about the average amount of damage dealt by certain types of weapons throughout the time Godenland has been open. As always, this information is gathered based on the logs provided by players to his project lifdamage.online.

That’s it for today’s devblog! Have a great weekend everyone!

Dev News #191

Hello, Feudalists!
A lot has been happening this week. Godenland has been wiped clean, and players have poured into this beautiful world to claim their lands and build their settlements. Of course, as it usually goes in the game development, it couldn’t go without some small hiccups.
We have received a number of reports about server crashes and their relation to the monuments, and since then we’ve been investigating the issue in both, the code and the wipe script itself. During that time we have worked with the guild leaders and assisted them with recovery of materials and rebuilding their monuments. As we’ve been digging deeper and deeper into the code and server logs, after several hours of work and with new reports about other sources of the server crashes, we’ve finally got to the bottom of this and permanently fixed the issue, which actually wasn’t related to monument building.
We’re continuing on with the fixes of issues that surfaced after the wipe. One of those problems is the missing refund of God’s Coins, Decorator’s Kits and/or Believer Tools we’ve mentioned before. We understand how important this problem is for you and are doing our best to see the reason some of the players are still missing their items. The other issue is related to the issues with some of the fiefs that are acting as expanded while not being claimed by anyone. The problem will be patched soon, returning these fiefs to their normal sizes.
Last thing we want to share is some of the data from before the wipe. More specifically, guild ratings. You have all put in a lot of work to build your settlements and to raise your kingdoms. You have kept growing as you’ve claimed new lands by building new outposts and as you’ve conquered the lands of your enemies. All this was reflected in the guild ranking and we want to highlight the top guilds in the world in three categories:
