Dev News #186

Hello, Feudalists!
It’s hard to believe, but it’s already been a year since we’ve opened the Godenland realm, bringing all the players together on this amazing, enormous continent, where anything is possible and where life IS feudal! We are so happy to celebrate this special time with you, especially since you are the ones who shape this world, and in so many ways. You change it through terraforming, by building your amazing settlements and roads that connect them, through your alliances and through wars as you scorch the lands of your enemies. You, collectively, are changing this world constantly and make it into what you want it to be, so it’s really all about you and how all of you, together, shape Godenland by your actions..

We want to use this special occasion to properly thank all of you who continuously support and believe in us by providing you with some token of appreciation. All active players who logged in between February 1st and February 22nd, 12pm UTC will receive a reward that consists of 5,000 God’s Favor for your premium shop purchases along with 5,000 God’s Coins to spend in-game. Please note that the rewards will be granted per account, which means that if you have more than one character, it doesn’t matter which one were you active on. The rewards will be sent during the weekend. Happy birthday to Godenland and thank you, everyone!

Now for the community spot!
Speaking of how you’re shaping the world, we want to share a fine example of that in the form of another amazing time-lapse video that we’ve received recently:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sL_6EJN9kAA
It’s always great to see you work together on building something lasting and memorable. We are always happy when you share your creations with us, so please make sure to send us more of your fan art, whether it’s a screenshot, video, a drawing or a cosplay.

Hot topic
The last thing we want to talk to you about is the issue of the bases placed on top of very high, unnaturally terraformed areas that are normally impossible to create, as our mechanics allow a maximum of 4.0 height difference between tiles. Some players have learned how to abuse a loophole that allows them to bypass this limitation, resulting in bases that are nearly or completely unreachable with the use of normal game mechanics. Both, their existence and the methods players use to attack them due to lack of options have been topics of debate among players and the LiF Team. While we are looking for a solution to this issue, we’ve made a decision that outposts built on top of such glitched terraforming will be considered an outlaw bases, which means that attackers sieging such outposts will be allowed to use any method necessary to actually attack them. Should such outpost be rebuilt with normal terraforming mechanics, it will no longer be considered an outlaw base and attackers will once again be bound to follow normal game ruleset. This information will also be noted in the world rules.

We wish everyone a great weekend!

Dev News #185

Hello, Feudalists!
This week we bear news of upcoming fixes that we’re currently working on.
One of the issues that we are working on fixing is the notorious problem with the collapsed mines and objects on newbie islands which make it very difficult to complete a tutorial quest in that area. While on the topic of the starting area, it’s worth the mention that we are planning on wiping the newbie islands soon. Exact date will be announced on our Discord channel next week.
As for the Godenland, we are in the process of making some improvements for the ownership transfer of an outpost that was captured during Holy Judgement..
There's also an ongoing investigation of the instability issues on server 72. We're doing what we can to see that problem resolved as soon as possible.

Now for the community spot!
There's an upcoming, player hosted tournament - UFC Life is Feudal. You can find more details and rules of this event in this doc, and if you are interested in registering for the tournament, you can do it here.
Do not forget about upcoming Heritage Hunt event that we mentioned in our previous dev blog that will take place this Sunday.

Have a great and fun weekend everyone!

Dev News #184

Hello, Feudalists!
Last week we have welcomed you all in the new year with re-enabled Judgment Hour. This short time of peace during the holidays has ended and war is raging in Abella once again.
Small update released yesterday has ended the Christmas event and returned the looks of the trader carts to normal. In addition, we’ve provided some optimizations for launcher work. We’re hoping that P2P-connection will work more stable for you after this.
The dev team continues to gather and analyze all the feedback received in order to improve and further balance the game mechanics. More tweaks, bugfixes and gameplay balancing patches will follow in due time.
And more on the news about cheaters. Yes, we are aware that some people are still trying to play dirty. In response to that we regularly issue wave of bans on all these accounts to make sure that everyone can enjoy a fair game. This process will continue indefinitely and all cheaters will be punished.

Now to the fun part. The Crown has heard the rumors of ancient jewelry, that might be linked with those who lived in this land before the people came here. They’re willing to go even as far as to dig through the settlements of the savage Knools to get these artifacts — since this is where they were reported to be taken to. Will you answer the call of the Crown and become its champion?
The Heritage Hunt event is scheduled for next week, Sunday 26th.The same rules apply as with the recent Gloom's Festival event. Players who succeed in this event, will receive the following rewards: x5 Death Insurances (20), x5 Inspiration Boosters and 5,000 God’s Coins plus additional 1,000 God’s Coins for the successful group with Bard-Streamer in their ranks. In order to be deemed worthy of the prize, you shall bring the old rusty rings from Knool’ Camps to Arrakis. Who knows, you may also find some additional loot hidden in the containers. But beware, as other treasure hunters might not be willing to share and you might have to fight not only the barbarians, but also other expedition groups. Information about the approximate locations of the Knool Camps will be announced at Sunday 2020-01-26, at 19:00 UTC, which will mark the beginning of the expedition. Stay tuned for the news on our discord’s mmo_event_feed channel, where the detailed information and map will be published.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Dev News #183

Hello, Feudalists!
In case you’ve missed our latest patch notes, check them out here. And in today’s dev blog, we will explain the changes a bit more.
After two weeks of observation and communication, we’ve brought back the previously disabled /stuck command. We were able to analyze the most common cases where it was actually required to improve how it works. Hopefully, now it can only be your helper in a situation where your character cannot move — and nothing more.
A second major change is, of course, the cooldown for monument construction after it was destroyed. Some of you were asking, which is why we’re, hopefully, making it clear: the cooldown is applied in any case of monument loss. That includes the monument’s lack of support points. For those of you, who want to keep their monuments alive, we’ve implemented the automated messages earlier, that should notify you whenever your monument is getting close to insufficient points. The cooldown also means that any guild is forbidden from placing a monument on that fief for the duration. However, anyone can place an outpost there.
In case any of you don’t know the reason behind this change, it has been requested many times by the active PvP community because a quick monument reconstruction allowed to avoid the Judgement Hour. We’re hoping that with this change we’re getting one step forward on the “fair play” stair.
As the Holidays are nearly there, we want you to enjoy your time with your close ones in peace, without worrying about wars in the game. This is why Judgement Hour will be disabled from December 24th until January 9th.

Now for the community spot!
This week we want to share the view from the territory of constantly growing kingdom ‘Seigneurie D Amance’. The design of their settlements, where you can find a multitude of attractions, such as arenas, is quite inspiring. You can see what we mean in this gallery.

We wish you a great weekend and Merry Christmas!

Patch Notes (0.25.30.0)

Hello, Feudalists!

After a considerate discussion based on your feedback, we’re bringing changes to the last update. Thank you all for providing us with detailed information on how these modifications influenced your gameplay!

Patch Notes (ver. 0.25.30.0):
New Features and Tweaks:
• /stuck command is available, but with modifications that should restrict its usage to the cases where it is actually needed
    • Developer’s comment: we’re hoping that now /stuck will get you out of a situation where your character cannot move while not having any effect outside of such cases.
  • Destroying a monument now starts a week-long cooldown on the fief where it was placed before. Any monuments’ placement is forbidden there while the timer is active
    • Developer’s comment: a lot of complaints were based upon the fact that some guilds are able to bring down the monument and rebuild it again to avoid the Judgement Hours. Now, a destroyed monument will mean a lost fief — until you can take it back. And to clarify: this cooldown does not trigger when building an outpost in said fief.
  • A fief won’t get transferred as a result of a lost IB if it has been captured by another guild before the battle starts
    • Developer’s comment: the previous behavior for this situation was not intended by us. This is more of a fix, really.
  • Christmas decorations were added to the trader carts and to all villages
    • Developer’s comment: and some of them might have something to say.
Bug Fixes and Optimizations:
• Implemented a system that should prevent arenas’ failure to start
