Developer Update - September 15

With the pre-alpha Libra milestone & hotfix now in your hands, you have access to a ton of improvements for the Avatar FPS weapon arsenal. New optics, weapon models, recoil adjustments, damage drop-off & ADS sensitivity sliders are now at your disposal, and our Test Pilots have diligently tested and provided feedback to raise the bar for FPS gunplay in Project Genesis.

[h2]New FPS Optics[/h2]



Gone are the days of solely 1x scopes in Project Genesis, because in the pre-alpha Libra milestone, we've outfitted the whole cast of FPS weapons with an array of new optics & magnification options. Our Art Director, Mark Nicolino, who wore an incredible amount of hats during the Libra development cycle, worked tirelessly to make these new sights available for you in-game.

Depending on the weapons you choose to wield in combat, you will now put rounds down range using new iron sights, red dot sights, thermal scopes, and long-range DMR & sniper scopes! With future plans to allow a plethora of customization options for sights in Project Genesis, this first iteration of new optics lays the foundation for FPS weapon loadout capabilities catered to your specific playstyle.

[h2]New FPS Weapon Models[/h2]



From concept to reality! Back in February we showed you concept sketches for new FPS weapons designed by Dipo Muh, our Concept Artist, and now in Libra we have rigged up 2 weapons exclusive to Project Genesis that you can take into battle.

The first of many more to come, the new weapon models available in Libra include the Bozar .50 LMG & the Trio SMG.

[h2]FPS Recoil Changes[/h2]



Although we have gone through several iterations on FPS recoil behavior in past milestone release cycles, we really wanted to make notable improvements to recoil patterns in the Libra update. With the help of rigorous testing and feedback from our amazing Test Pilots with our QA Lead, Dwayne Beck at the helm, Christian Aguila Perez, our Gameplay Designer, dedicated significant focus in refining recoil across the entire arsenal of FPS weapons, aligning weapon function and performance more closely with industry standards.

[h2]FPS Damage Drop-Off[/h2]



In addition to bettering recoil patterns and behavior, Christian also implemented the first iteration of damage drop-off for FPS weapons. As an integral aspect of weapon balancing and differentiation between weapon types, this initial pass for damage drop-off lays the groundwork for future refinements and balancing across Avatar weaponry.

[h2]ADS Sensitivity Slider Controls[/h2]



To complement the new updates and feature implementations for FPS weapons in Project Genesis, the first iteration of separate ADS sensitivity slider controls has been included in the Libra milestone update, allowing you to fine-tune your sens when scoped in on your enemies. With additional ADS sensitivity customization coming in future iterations, we plan to allow for additional slider controls based on magnification for your chosen optic.

As we've mentioned above and many times before, none of this could be possible without the incredible efforts of our Test Pilots. Monday - Friday each week, these amazing community members team up in Discord for guided testing sessions, helping to identify and write bugs, provide input and feedback on weapon balancing, and rigorously put each feature set through the grinder to ensure it ends up in your hands in the best form possible.
