Kofi Quest in 2021 - A big update is underway

Hey there! 2020 was a tough year for everyone, but even with some hardships we’ve been able to make great progress in Kofi Quest. We want to mention some of the announcements we’ve made to our backers in Kickstarter over these months. We’re focusing our efforts in the Nintendo Switch version, but all upgrades and changes will apply to the PC version too.
We have a PUBLISHER to release in Nintendo Switch!
We want to let you all know that after several months of meetings and interviews, we’ve finally reached an agreement AND WE NOW HAVE A PUBLISHER that will take care of our game in Nintendo Switch. We’re really excited about it because it’s undoubtedly big news for the project.
The Nintendo Switch Port - What's new?
What’ll be new in the Nintendo Switch version:
 • The new controller system, which greatly changes the game experience.
 • New content that will only be playable after the Switch release.
 • New languages
 • Many improvements and fixes (including all Steam fixes /patches /updates)
The PC DEMO for the CONTROLLER system (backers only)
Over the past few months we’ve been hard at work improving the game to adapt it to Nintendo Switch, both in functionality and in performance. In December we published an exclusive demo for backers on Kickstarter that allows you to play with a controller to test our new system, going through some maps and allowing you to play with 7 different characters, as well as use some items and fight against enemies. Having released this demo is helping us to make the controller system even better (which will also be usable here on Steam when available).
Kofi Quest will be available with text in Chinese and Portuguese
Our game will include new languages, since they’ll be available since the launch of the Nintendo Switch version (at which point there will be a PC patch including the same new stuff). The game will include texts in Chinese and Portuguese. Unfortunately, we can’t include all the languages we’d like because our game is over 85,000 words, and due to that extensive script translating this content is hard work (and an elevated cost). But even so, we will continue to try to include texts in new text languages in the future.
The next Steam Update?
Right now it is difficult for us to continue uploading updates in the Steam version at the same time that we focus on the Switch version because there is a lot of risk of losing control.

So the game is launched on Switch we’ll release a big update on PC where you’ll get all the new stuff, such as the extra content, the controller support, new languages and many fixes and changes.

Best! ːsteamhappyː

Kofi Quest: Alpha MOD - Update 0.11.0

We're back with a new update (0.11.0). The changes that are included in the new update:
Quick Travel reimagined
We’ve implemented a completely renewed Quick Travel system. Instead of having to go to a Save Point in order to travel to one of the few destination points, it’s now possible to travel from anywhere to any of the Save Points that you have already visited (unless it’s impossible to get there for narrative reasons).
 • From now on, to quick travel you just have to open your map from the Pause menu or from the quick access in the lower right corner (M key) and select the save point to which you want to travel.

 • You will now keep the summoned units when quick travelling (unless you’re going back to the shelter).
 • Hovering over any floppy disk on the map will show the name of the place where it is located.
 • To help understand the interconnection between the different maps in the game, you can now use the arrows at the start and end of the maps to open previous or next maps.
Transport characters
Throughout the adventure you will have found characters who offer to take you to different points on the map, to make it compatible with the new Quick Travel system, we have relocated some of them to allow you to take some shortcuts where Quick Travel doesn’t reach.

Instead of offering you a list of destinations, you can see icons on the map so there is no doubt about the exact place you’ll be traveling to.

Between the Fast Travel and these friendly characters, no corner of the game shall remain unexplored.
Recover motivation
At different moments in the story, there are cinematics that force some of your allies to disappear (because the situation requires it). When this happens Kofi will be given back the motivation points that cost to call them.

 • If you make a Quick Travel to the shelter, where your units return to their usual tasks, you will also recover the corresponding motivation.
Losing motivation
At certain points in the game, there are characters that will help you temporarily and eventually become part of your army. During this temporary situation, these characters will reappear over and over again, without any cost of motivation. To balance this situation, from now on you will lose some motivation points when one of these temporary allies dies.
New Upgrade for the wallet
Since the launch of the game, many players have asked us about a wallet upgrade, which until now could only reach 999 coins. Finally, we have added the possibility of obtaining a superior wallet, with a capacity of 3,000 coins. How do you get the new wallet to access new wealth? Well rubbing shoulders with the right people, of course.
New Pro Weapons (Giant Sword, Dagger of the flame, Bow of the driven snow)
The new wallet will give you access to some of the weapons in Grung's shop that were previously impossible to buy. These weapons had a merely narrative function (indeed, they were designed so that they could not be purchased). To avoid confusion, we have had to remove some of these items but we have programmed the rest so that you can buy and use them.
I won’t miss! (Elfa, right before missing a shot)
We’ve already made corrections in the past to the aim of ranged units, this time we’ve fixed certain problems that ranged units had when shooting at moving targets.
Magical ice creams!
Summer arrives and with it the ice creams that keep us cool and with high HP. They say that there is a magical ice cream guy that goes around the world with his magical cart full of (magical) ice creams. If you meet a character with an ice cream in their hands, you are in luck. Talk to him so he can tell you where he last saw the ice cream guy. (Hint: don't use Quick Travel to find him, it's not really that fast and the ice cream guy will have plenty of time to go somewhere else.)

Other fixes:

 • Adjusted some character stats (allies and enemies)
 • Adjusted amount of gold in some chests and the gold that shopkeepers offer you for some items
 • Kofi's face finally appears on maps when he is inside a cave or house
 • After a Game Over or Mission Failed, you will get a small Motivation bonus if you were low on it.
 • Corchel's quest can be completed at any point throughout the adventure (previously you could only complete it for a period of time within the adventure)
 • Kofi tries to put himself in a visually favorable position when talking to an NPC
 • Minor bug fixes
