Yai Gameworks 10-year anniversary; releasing FREE updates to all of my games!

Hey! Did you know we're approaching Yai Gameworks 10-year anniversary? Well, now you do! I've technically been making games since 2013, starting with Blank Slate, but "Yai Gameworks" was made officially in 2015 as part of becoming a Steam developer to release Close Your Eyes: Redux on Steam.

So I have some surprises for y'all! I'm doing a HUGE 10-year celebration. What does that entail? I'm going to update every single game I've released on Steam. This will start in a few days from now, but the updates will roll out through the next 477 days (until August 31st, 2026).

I will not reveal everything I'm adding to these games here, just the core new additions. I will give no ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) on any of these, just know that I'll post an update on each game's store page when each one is out (or of course, keep the game installed to be notified when the game updates). All of these updates will be FREE to owners of the games (and free updates to the already free games).

Price of the game when the update hits will raise by $1 USD, and will finally release the OST of the game as well. Also Steam Achievements. This overhaul is actually huge as I think the game deserves to be so much more than it was.

Small update to just fix a few small bugs.

-Fixed it so you can leave the Forest Warehouse if you have 5 or 6 talismans.
-Fixed a bug where the game would crash in the Warehouse if you last input a blue button code incorrectly.
-Fixed the hit detection of the dumpster in My Hole is a Mouth of Dirt.
-A hypothetical attempt to fix a bug where you'd automatically when the "Spider" death zone in the doodily train section if you entered it a second time.

Close Your Eyes Version 0.3 Out Now!

Close Your Eyes Remake has updated to version 0.3!

This update while a relatively big one, didn't end up quite as fully cooked as I desired. This mostly ends up being an update adding more to content already in the game. Some of that content is practically all new; Some rooms have been completely reworked, there's various visual and audio additions, new flavor text added, new secrets, new surprises, and more. This has been more an "Art Final Pass" update than anything.

But that doesn't mean there isn't any new content, in fact all the WIP game modes outside of A Ghastly Tale have a small update to get to their next save point with new rooms, cutscenes, surprises, etc. But the next update will have to be the one that really expands on adding more content in a linear story fashion to the current dead ends that exist.

Before the full patch notes, here's three things I'm aware of:
-Not all of Mole's dialogue is voiced. In particular, there's a bit in the chapel cutscene and a bit in the God's Cradle cutscene where he's missing dialogue. This will be fixed in either the next update or the update after that; I need to do another recording session with his VA is the short of it.
-The Scarecrow Secret in Close Your Eyes is currently roadblocked as I didn't get it done in time.
-Similarly, the Girl's Graveyard second secret ending is currently roadblocked as I didn't get it done in time.

Now, with all of this said, here's the full patch notes!


GENERAL:
-The Marshmallow Monk sprite has been redone to look nicer, hope y'all like it!
-Added a new Screen Brightness adjuster to the settings menu.
-Added a fix for high refresh rate monitors for timing bugs.
-Updated some of the Steam Achievement Art and added a few more achievements (an Art Pass for all existing Steam Achievements will be next update, but a few achievements got an art pass this update).
-Fixed a Screen Resolution bug where there were two 720x528 options, added a 1600 x 900 resolution option instead.
-Fixed various file names for other language computers to read the files hopefully without errors.


THE ANNEX:
-The Annex Prologue added (just launch the Annex to experience it, supposed to be the first thing new players experience).
-Game posters/logos and the symbols above doors updated to be more readable and thematically fitting.
-Music player has some songs changed for the Annex Lobby.
-If you beat Girl's Graveyard, there's now a new thing that'll get added to the Annex Lobby you can play around with.


CLOSE YOUR EYES:
-Re-recorded various Host lines to their hopefully final form for the remake. Biggest changes are in the first cutscene in the game, the "You're a murderer, we all know it" first Host interaction, and quite a few of the Red Forest dialogue lines.
-Added in the "Please, close your eyes..." opening message from the original game that was previously left out of the remake.
-The opening stair descend room has new visual details/lighting.
-The room after the first save point has been DRASTICALLY reimagined.
-Finally up to NEC standards and put a warning sign up for the generator.
-Generator Room given some perspective (redesign).
-The foggy room where you first see Ghastly has a new audio detail added, as well as a strange force was cast upon the room.
-The Vine cracks made a little lighter in color.
-The staircase leading to the Subway puzzle has a new visual flourish.
-The Subway Station is now named.
-Erected a statue in the Subway station, added lights, pillars, and an employees only sign as well.
-"Do You Believe" now has a friend.
-You can now walk behind the red benches in the subway.
-Added some new flavor text and a small detail to the Subway stairs path.
-The giant hanging skull sprite has been reimagined.
-A not so delicious burger added.
-Hitbox of the cement mixer updated.
-In the second area of the Red Light death zone, made the exit a tiny bit more obvious.
-Updated the Tunnel Shape graffiti.
-Projector Puzzle made a tad bit easier with more clues.
-Hanging pods given a shadow to signify better than they're hanging from the ceiling.
-Added some flavor text to the caged entity in the Tunnel area stalker section.
-Added a dead rat to the tunnels. Cause why not?
-Added a few more creepy crawlies in the tunnels.
-Save point after the tunnels turned into a real dump.
-Sketchy Doodle Train section is now animated!
-Red Forest entrance now has a new sketchy look.
-Blood trail in the Red Forest section now looks better.
-The massacre ending in the Red Forest section now looks better too.
-The sobbing woman gives a little surprise now.
-Doubled the animation frames of the thing that crawls outta Little Marshmallow.
-Some punctuation fixes in the Red Forest art scene with Host.
-In the winter wonderland outside Judith Manor, the bushes got pricklier (and some turned into trees).
-Judith Manor now has wall trims.
-Judith Manor main hall now rounded out its staircase.
-The Yellow Diamond Key Door Sign now looks more like a yellow diamond.
-The Party Room in Judith Manor put up some more decorations.
-Some flavor text in the later parts of Judith Manor changed in subtle ways.
-Updated some sprites in the Forest section.
-New note added to Forest Cabin.
-Fixed up overgrowth and over-saturation of the floorboards in the Forest Cabin.
-Added some insect noises in the save area in the Forest.
-The exterior of the Forest Warehouse is a bit more overgrown now.
-Dummies no longer automatically take away a candle, there's now a new dummy death zone.
-Made the Forest Warehouse (Dummy Section) easier. You now need only 4 Talismans to leave, but getting all 6 Talismans gives you a reward.
-Remember not to play with fuses!
-Forest Warehouse has new visual flairs and touches.
-Forest Graveyard statue sprites updated.
-The Forest Gated Scarecrow path leading to the prison has been completely reimagined since the last update.
-The very first few rooms of the Prison added.


GIRLS GRAVEYARD:
-Added smoke to the chimneys.
-The purple water now moves.
-Redrew the "Arm Cut" CGs.
-Some decals added to the library room.
-Added a slight white flash to the Library Room transition, and to entering the Foggy Flower Field.
-In the section after the foggy flower field, but before the maze, added dripping sound effects that were in the original but forgotten in the remake, as well as darkened the whole place and made it foggier.
-Slight dialogue changes to the girl with purple hair.
-Added new story elements with new visuals to the "Sweet Note Scrawling" room after Round 6.
-Turned the audio down on the "Gargle Ghost" in the mirror breaking section.
-Fixed left & right entrances to the Darkness (previously were none).
-Added one new line of dialogue to the Boy's "Darkness" speech.
-Changed the way BGM speeds up in the Boy's "Darkness" speech.
-Turned down the audio in the Darkness secret.
-Bats in the Darkness section have a new sprite.
-Lightly altered some of the dialogue in the ending.


MY HOLE IS A MOUTH OF DIRT:
-Added some visual details to the entry tunnels after you speak to God and after you're instructed to go to God's Cradle.
-Mole's room has been adjusted, most notably a new sprite for his garbage bags full of cans.
-The water sprites in the sewer made to look more like water, and been littered with garbage.
-The sewer room with bars has new visual details.
-The door to Mole's chapel has been updated.
-Updated the Seeing Eye pictures in Mole's chapel, the pews in the chapel, along with new flavor text.
-The crosses in Mole's reading of the Book of Seeing made to stick out a tad bit more.
-Water stream in Mole's favorite spot in all of the sewer visually updated.
-Added cobwebs to Mole's emergency room.
-The furnace in the furnace room is now animated.
-Updated several pieces of graffiti in the tunnels because Gracen's a little bitch.
-A missing poster added with new flavor text.
-The pickaxe in the cramped dark room now casting a shadow, and the music doesn't restart when you loop in the room.
-Can now explore the whole bridge room.
-New tunnels appeared in the Mines.
-Two new cutscenes not in the original game added.
-New voiced version of previous cutscenes now in the game.
-Listen to a whole radio show if you wanna'.
-New achievement art.


GIRL'S GRAVEYARD MYSTERY:
-Added names above all the character dialogue boxes so you could more easily figure out who's talking.
-Changed Lotty's text color so it's easier to read.
-Altered and added some dialogue with the villagers in the village before Round 3.
-Fixed the bug for the achievement in Round 3 to make it through without dying, it should work properly now.
-Added more new dialogue in the scene after Round 3.
-Fixed a few typos.
-Can now experience the entirety of the second dream sequence.


I hope y'all enjoy the update. This update actually took quite a lot of effort as been trying to raise the overall quality of the game. This wouldn't have been possible without the committed and helpful work from Gracen, who's been helping out a lot with Yai Gameworks project stuff lately. I'm grateful to him, and he's to thank for a lot of the new visuals (though a few dozen of the visual changes, especially the animated stuff, was still mostly me).

Still, on the to-do list that I'm hopeful to get around to somewhere in the first half of 2025, my priorities right now are:
-Get far more of Close Your Eyes done.
-Reimagine Close Your Eyes: The Twisted Puzzle.
-Finish My Hole is a Mouth of Dirt: Director's Cut
-Finish Girl's Graveyard Mystery.
-Get further in A Ghastly Tale.
-Add the secret second ending to Girl's Graveyard, and finish two currently unfinished secrets in Close Your Eyes.

A big update is hitting for Close Your Eyes Remake on December 24th, 2024! I hope y'all enjoy it. Full patch notes for this update will be up when the update hits.

Close Your Eyes Remake VER. 2.2 Update (Much New!)

Released an update for Close Your Eyes finally! This update mostly brings all the content in the game to its "Final" version. Close Your Eyes Remake saw the most additions, and I highly encourage replaying it from the start as there's honestly quite a few new sights, sounds, events, etc, to experience within it. The other game modes have also experienced smaller updates.

My Hole is a Mouth of Dirt: Director's Cut is also now officially starting, with the first section of it fully playable.

Here's a full list of patch notes:
ANNEX:
-Lowered the amount of achievements needed to unlock Twisted Puzzle (10 > 5), The Annex (5 > 0), A Ghastly Tale (20 > 15), and Beneath the Surface (35 > 30).
-Cleaned up the main annex lobby, put it into its "Final form" for layout, updated the dialogue around to properly reflect the update.

CLOSE YOUR EYES:
-Added a LOT of new sprites and details to various rooms.
-Added new flavor text to new details.
-Added some new events.
-Added some new secrets.
-Changed several Host voice lines to new recordings in the "New Voices" option, as I wasn't fully happy with several of the lines.
-Added new weed sprites for weed variety.
-Fixed up the "Hidden Hag Cassette" area with how it handled lighting a bit.
-Fixed some broken routes the enemies in the tunnel section can take.
-Fixed the "Death Zone" for the tunnel enemies if you died a second time (them spotting you wasn't reset previously).

GIRL'S GRAVEYARD:
-Fixed up some of the dialogue, some new lines added.
-Added a couple new secrets.
-Fixed a few typos.
-Made it so players could go back to get a selfie with the girl in red if they moved past it too quickly (can return to previous room).

Girl's Graveyard Mystery:
-Added a new event in the first night sequence.
-Fixed a few typos.
-Fixed the dialogue of some of the characters on Day 3 in the Village.

A Ghastly Tale:
-Added a few new sprite details/events.
-Fixed a few typos.
-The final room is a WIP, I know you can clip through the statue sprites and no flavor text currently. Just a work in progress for now.

My Hole is a Mouth of Dirt:
-Added properly.
-Voice acting added.
-One new room compared to the original in the current build.
-Various sprites updated to look better.
-Couple new hidden events to the OG.

The next update should be in October, I should be far more consistent from here on out.
