Dev Diary #1: Survival Mode

Greetings, Pilgrims!

The work on the next update continues apace, so we'd like to share the details of the upcoming "Survival" mode with you.

It is going to be PvPvE mode where the players will side with one of the Orders and lead it to victory by participating in various activities, such as hunting deadly bosses. These challenges take place after the events of the campaign.



The players will be able to tackle the harsh trials both on public and private servers. The settings will be customizable so that you can set up more comfortable gaming conditions, like fully disabling PvP if you so choose. A single server will be able to support up to 50 people simultaneously.

The world will be significantly expanded. There will be many more islands than in the campaign, and they will be randomly shuffled, to create unique situations: may have to carefully build logistical chains between islands to acquire the necessary resources.

Right now the Orders have different fortresses, stories, and goals, but the testing may bring out the need for additional changes.



In addition to dangerous monsters and harsh weather conditions, the world will be struck by cataclysms - the periodic events that bring deadly cold. There are terrifying creatures stirring among the snow, daring champions to come and lay claim to the useful loot.

The goal of this mode is to help your Order and its allies achieve their aims and receive legendary items in return. We are also discussing the possibility of introducing an optional wipe for those who want to periodically change the balance of power on servers, allowing to retain only a fraction of the players' progress.

The work on the campaign mode also continues. We’d like to dedicate more time to its development, so we can think everything through and deliver the most exciting experience, so we bring you the first screenshots of the new islands for now.



This was just the beginning. There are many things that we are working on, and next time, we will tell you about the changes to the combat system and what we learned from the alpha test.

Frozen Flame | A Building Contest

Pilgrims, welcome to our first building contest after release in Early Access!

While we are busy working on the upcoming survival mode and preparing for the alpha and beta tests, we want to check your building skills.

There will be up to 10 winners, and as a reward for your architectural abilities, the top builders will receive exclusive access to the Closed Alpha. And finally, THE GRAND PRIZE - TOP-3 will additionally receive a Golden Harp DLC, the unique decoration of the Golden Harp!

  • Drop your buildings there, our team will carefully look through each of them!
  • Enter your own work created for this contest. Teamwork is allowed, but only the account that submits will receive the prizes.

Due Date

All entries must be submitted by March 8th, 2023, 8:00 AM PT. We will not accept any entries after this date. Winners will be announced on March 9, 2023, at 8:00 AM PT. Entries must be submitted to the Building Contest channel on Discord.

The Closed Alpha and future plans

Greetings, Pilgrims!

We have exciting news to share with you regarding our game's development! As you may have seen, we recently published an updated roadmap that includes plans for the release of the survival mode this spring. However, before we can launch such a vast game mode, we need to conduct thorough testing. Therefore, we will be conducting two tests before the survival mode.

The first test will be a closed alpha test, which is scheduled to begin on March 9th. Participants in this alpha test will be a selected group of players, our game veterans. We will also be hosting a building contest just before the start of the test, and the top builders will be given access to the closed alpha. We believe that those who have invested a lot of time and effort into the game should be the first to experience the new game mode.

Following the alpha test, we will conduct a beta test that will be open to everyone. It will be announced separately at a later date. We will closely monitor all feedback from the tests and make any necessary changes based on your comments.

Roadmap Update

Dear Pilgrims,

It's been three exciting months since Frozen Flame hit Early Access, and we've been working hard to make the game even better. Thanks to your valuable feedback, we've made several improvements and releases. We are now happy to announce some exciting changes and future updates.

We recently conducted a survey on our Discord channel to gather your thoughts and ideas on what you'd like to see in the future of Frozen Flame. We're grateful for your participation, and we've taken your suggestions to heart. Based on the results, we've adjusted our development roadmap to better align with your expectations.



One of our primary focuses in the near future will be the Survival mode and PvP. Three Orders stake a claim for resources and territory in the world, which grows harsher with every passing moment. Players must pick a side and lead their Order to victory by combating rivals, conquering islands, and vanquishing deadly bosses.

The upcoming update will also introduce refined combat mechanics and re-tuned weapons, particularly the bow, and staff.

To ensure a seamless roll-out, we will be implementing a new update delivery process, starting with a closed Alpha test in March. This will be followed by an open beta accessible to all players in Spring.

As for the future plans, we are working on other features from the roadmap poll, and they will appear in the game in the later stages of development. Also, we are eager to engage with the community and have exciting plans for various player events in the near future.

Update #3: The Dragon’s Grove Keeper

[h2]NEW BOSS: THE GOLEM[/h2]

Golems are powerful, profane creatures. Born of the Faceless’ dark energy, they were thought to disappear after the demise of the dragons. Yet one of them still remains.
Somewhere in the Astral, this mighty giant slumbers, guarding the portal core of the Dragon’s Grove.
  • New location: Hollow Golem.
  • New boss: The Golem.
  • New Steam achievement: Defeat the Golem.
  • Dragon’s Grove story arc finale.
  • As a reward for defeating the Golem, you will receive an enchanting station blueprint, which will become available in the next update.

Future updates may bring changes to the Golem’s behavior based on feedback.

[h2]NEW WEAPON TYPE: SPEARS[/h2]

Spear is a perfect weapon for those who want to hold their opponents at a medium range - not too close, and not too far. However, if a Cursed isn’t content with the distance between you two and tries to get away - politely inform him that you’d like him to stay.. by throwing a spear at his back.
  • New weapon type: spear.
  • 3 varieties: stone, bone and metal.
  • Spear blueprints can be purchased from Bonehead and Blacksmith.


[h2]COMBAT POTIONS[/h2]
Do you feel hot all of the sudden? Or, perhaps, your body permeates with cold? Did you have “something wrong” for breakfast? Hurry to Woodhead! He has brand new recipes in stock: remedies for poisons, heat and cold!
  • 3 new combat potions, which cure and grant brief protection from negative effects: poison, fire and cold.


[h2]NEW DRAGON’S GROVE ISLANDS[/h2]

Dragon’s Grove has gained 5 new picturesque islands, ready to be discovered and claimed.
  • New islands: 3 medium and 2 small.
  • 2 new Rituals.


[h2]BY POPULAR DEMAND[/h2]

We get plenty of feedback and ideas from our players. Some of those are included in this update:
  • Added new building modules:
    1. Roof corner.
    2. Inverted roof corner.
    3. Inverted gable.
  • Introduced new “floating floor” module type. It’s functionality may see some changes based on the feedback.
  • Halved the furnace’s resource production time. It is now as follows:
    1. Stone block - 1 minute.
    2. Iron ingot - 3 minutes.
    3. Mithril ingot - 5 minutes.
  • Reduced the alchemic pot’s potion production time:
    1. Simple potions - 1 minute.
    2. Combat potions - 2.5 minutes.
  • Increased the carry weight for backpacks:
    1. Woven backpack by 50.
    2. Leather backpack by 150.
  • Reduced the crafting cost for the deconstructor.
  • Trees and resource nodes no longer spawn inside building modules.
  • Monster attacks no longer apply status effects through block.
  • Destruction Hammer can now be disabled in the server settings.
  • Increased the amount of resources dropped from Coal and Mithril nodes.
  • Increased the daytime temperature in the Dragon’s Grove.
  • Stone blocks are now crafted three at a time.
  • Items placed in the quick-access slots can now be dragged between different slots.
  • Implemented a transient save file, allowing to restore the game world in case the main save file gets corrupted.

  • Fixed the issue causing storm clouds to not be visible.
  • The last monster in the Dungeon Secret quest should now spawn properly.
  • Removed small stones from snowy areas.
  • Fixed the issue causing settings not to display in chosen language immediately.
  • Fixed ram’s animation to fit its movement speed.
  • Fixed the issue causing some islands not to appear on the map.
  • Fixed color discrepancies in the character creation menu.
  • Fixed the issue causing some quest items to not display in the “Quest items” filtre tab.
  • Fixed the incorrect ring effect stacking display in the UI.
  • Fixed the issue causing the cursor to flicker while clicking on non-interactive elements of the main menu.
  • FIxed the issue causing some monsters not to die upon reducing their health to zero.
  • Fixed the reaction of the resource bushes to the wind.
  • Fixed the ability display in the Ability Tree after resetting it.
  • Fixed the Cursed mages’ combat behavior.
