Update #1: Portal to Christmas

[h2]Christmas Event[/h2]



Ho ho ho! Hope that you behaved yourself this year because we have prepared a special gift. An island, filled to the brim with sounds of bells and smell of Christmas trees, is already available in the Sanctuary.

There you can meet Krampus, and every Pilgrim can find a lot of beautiful decorations in his bag. He is ready to part with them for luscious gingerbread - Arcana’s traditional festive dish. The more sweets you will find the more decorations for your house you will be able to acquire.

Look for the beacons in the Broken Valley - they will lead you to the Christmas presents with gingerbread (but, maybe, you will stumble across something even more interesting).
  • Brand new Christmas island: a portal appeared in Sanctuary.
  • New NPC-trader - Krampus.
  • New item: gingerbread. You can eat it (and get a speed boost) or exchange it for decorations with Krampus.
  • Christmas presents appeared everywhere!

[h2]Festive decorations[/h2]



In winter, it is a custom to decorate not only the Christmas tree but also your own house. And decorations, which you can get from Krampus, will help you with that.
Wooden furniture, candles, lamps, and many other items will help you adorn your house and fill it with coziness and warmth. We will proceed to add more decorations in the future.
  • 10 new decorations to embellish the interior.

[h2]Difficulty settings on the game start[/h2]



It is important to us that everyone will be able to play Frozen Flame at their own pace. So we added a difficulty choice at the start of Local Play. You can also change the difficulty for already existing games.
For those who love customization, we added an option to ignore difficulty settings by using line bIgnoreDifficulty = true; in the Game.ini file.

[h2]Gamepad improvements[/h2]

This update brings you much-needed changes for gamepad controls: we have improved existing functions and added new ones. We also expanded gamepad support for inventory and other interfaces.
We have also introduced target lock into the game - now you will be able to choose and focus on one target.
You can expect even more improvements for gamepad controls in the future.

  • Added an option to decrease sensitivity even further.

[h2]Emotion menu[/h2]



Dance, cry, laugh or scream - now it will be even easier to show your emotions in the game. The new menu allows you to choose any emotion without the need to type it in the chat.

[h2]Idols of Broken Valley[/h2]



Battles with the bosses of Broken Valley are now more dangerous than ever. Even the forces of nature will fight against you alongside the Cursed.
Poisonous thorns, fire traps, fierce blizzards - overcome these challenges to reach the boss. But this fight can’t be won with brute strength and sharp weapons - only with dexterity and wits.

[h2]Stone stove[/h2]



We saw that a lot of players place bonfires in their houses, so we decided to add a stone stove. It is not only a decoration but also a place to cook your food and keep you warm.
Now bonfires can only cook recipes that require one ingredient, while a stove allows you to cook 2-ingredient recipes.
  • New item: stone stove.
  • The number of cooking slots in bonfires was reduced to 1.

[h2]New Woodhead[/h2]



We updated Woodhead’s model to make him look more otherworldly and magical. His animations were also improved.

[h2]Player's requests[/h2]
We listen to your feedback. And, to improve QoL even further, we have made some further changes to old mechanics or introduced entirely new ones:
  • Increased the drop rate of all berries and leaves.
  • Added a reward for an island with a huge monument (for the bravest).
  • Recipes that use full waterskin will no longer consume the item entirely, but give you empty waterskin back.
  • Sheltered effect now also protects you from the cold.
  • Mannequins can be placed on the ground now.
  • The number of slots in chests increased to 32.

[h2]Other changes[/h2]

Gameplay
  • Reworked fountain interactions (now it is easier to collect water).
  • Increased interaction time with the Titan’s destruction mechanism.
  • Nibblers' health and precision were increased.
  • Reduced skeletons’ spawn time.
  • Removed headshot defense from masks of several cursed.
  • Reduced critical damage of two-handed swords.
  • The maximum number of planks in the stack was increased, while their weight was reduced.
  • Now you can pack teleports and jumping pads.
  • Increased quantity of resources sold by Cu.
  • Balance improvements.
  • Localization improvements.
  • Chests now drop a fixed amount of coins.
Map
  • Changed the placement of tablets for Cu’s quest.
  • Increased the number of several monsters in the Broken Valley.
Animations
  • New draw and hide animations for weapons.
  • New jump animations.
  • New knockdown animations.
  • Some fixes to bubble-hat animations.
  • Fixed protector mobs animations.
Interface
  • Now when you try to place a station on the ground you will see a tooltip on the building.
  • Now you can close the Book of Memories by pressing B.
  • Now you can close the building menu by pressing Esc.
Bug fixes
  • Fixed invisible barriers in Broken Valley that stopped arrows and fireballs.
  • Fixed an issue that created a second object in the archaeologist’s quest.
  • Fixed ability to teleport with over-encumbrance.
  • Fixed a bug that made the healing spell constant after leaving the game.
  • Fixed invulnerable monsters.
  • Fixed problems with interactions with musical gravestones.
  • Fixed an issue, when you could get stuck in Titan’s Head.
  • Fixed highlighting of several interactive objects.
  • Fixed cursed defender animations.
  • Fixed ghosts’ resistances.
  • Removed the inscription that told you to make a sacrifice near Titan’s chest.
  • Second “pack” button won’t appear on stations in the building mode.
  • The LevelUpFlameRate parameter works in local game.

Greetings, pilgrims!

Currently, we are working on the first update for the game, which you can expect in the first half of December.

[h3]Combat[/h3]

We are continuing to improve the combat system. This hotfix includes the following changes:
  • Reduced delay between attacks of melee weapons;
  • Improved hitboxes for all melee weapons;
  • Power attack damage for axes, swords, and clubs was increased by 100%;
  • Combo for one-handed sword was made simpler;

[h3]Bug fixes[/h3]

At the same time, we prepared some bug fixes for the current version:
  • Fixed a crash on older systems when you entered the Map screen;
  • Now you can turn off gamepad vibration in settings;
  • MonsterDamageMultiplier setting now works correctly;
  • We have removed FlameRate variable (it wasn’t working correctly and was breaking gameplay), instead we introduce LevelUpFlameRate, which allows scaling the required amount of flame for a level-up (experimental for now, work well only in Local coop);
  • Minor improvements;

Today’s update is focused on improving quality of life by adding additional gameplay settings.

[h3]New gameplay settings[/h3]

Fly settings

We have noticed that you didn’t like that we took away your ability to fly inside energy barriers. This shouldn’t be the case in the first place - it was just a bug that crawled into the Early Access release. But we heard you and added an option to turn this off. Please keep in mind that Cradle of Keepers was designed with this limitation in mind.

Encumbrance

Your feedback made it evident that the current encumbrance system is simply not enjoyable, so we decided to tune it. Now when the character is over-encumbered, they won't be so severely slowed down, but won't be able to sprint. However, if you carry too much (above 100% of the max carry weight), you will face some limitations. We also added a toggle and a setting for the encumbrance threshold.

Other settings
  • Changed the name of an argument that was responsible for the health received after the resurrection.
  • Added an argument that allows you to change the amount of refunded resources after you demolish building modules.

[h3]Local Play settings[/h3]

We added a guide on how to customize local play if you don’t play on a dedicated server.

[h3]Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug that prevented some players from crafting Loom. You can find it on Artisan Table.
  • Changed the maximum number of items in a stack for planks and other resources.
  • Log weight was reduced.
  • Fixed ritual in Bard Island. Now it completes automatically.

We’re ready to release the next patch, which includes plenty of fixes and gameplay improvements. If you’re experiencing any issues with the game, please message us on Discord - we’ll do our best to resolve them. Your messages and feedback never go unnoticed and help us correct the development course according to them.

We’d like to express our gratitude to everyone, who left positive reviews on Steam and who helps us to continue improving our game. This feedback means a lot to us, boosting the spirit of our team to push forward!



Version 0.65.0.4 includes following changes:

Gameplay
  • Added the Loom to the Artisan Table blueprints - now you can craft all the cloth you’d ever need;
  • All modules that do not require a foundation are no longer affected by decay, including bonfires, fences, garden beds, etc.
  • Solid Essence now restores 25 durability points of items (instead of 25%).
  • Increased the time for which logs fuel a bonfire.
  • Pots are now fueled with branches instead of logs.
  • Changed the bonfire crafting recipe.
  • The “heat” status is no longer visible on the UI.
  • Changed the loot for secret chests in the Broken Valley.
  • Added a sign in front of a portal to the Dragon’s Grove.
Balance
  • Garden beds and pots now produce items faster.
  • Tree chopping now takes less time.
  • Sawmills now produce planks faster.
  • Sawmills now produce more planks per log.
  • Increased the number of branches dropped from trees: from 3-6 to 4-8.
  • Increased the drop rate of bones and crystals from monsters (especially ghosts).
Combat
  • Increased the base amount of stamina: from 80 to 100.
  • Increased the stamina recovery speed.
  • Increased the combat energy accumulation speed.
  • Increased the staff’s DoT effect: from 2 to 3.
  • Reduced the amount of HP of Ironbound and the elite ghosts of the Broken Valley.
  • Reduced the durability loss for weapons and armor.
Fixes
  • Fixed some of the discovered issues in Dedicated Server functionality.
  • Fixed the issue, blocking players from progressing into the Sanctuary after the Ice Elemental fight.
  • Players can now find an interaction point that leads to the Sanctuary.
  • Fixed the issue, which caused DirectX 12 to be chosen by default.
  • Fixed the duplicates of the Poison Boar pelt being dropped in the Woodhead’s quest.
  • Fixed the issue of the no-flight zone effect display.
  • Fixed the issue, preventing players from deleting certain servers from their server lists.
  • Fixed the issue, which allowed to players build while flying.


At the beginning of December, we’re planning to release Update #1, which will also include some of the new improvements based on your feedback.

We’re also working on the next major biome, including numerous islands, new enemies, gear, quests, etc. So, stay tuned! There’s plenty of work ahead of us.

We have received a lot of feedback from you in these 24 hours. And we are ready to present you with some changes based on that feedback. Here they are:

  • Durability loss of weapons was decreased by 50%.
  • Structure decay is now capped at 30%, so your house won’t disappear after a while.
  • Crafting cost of ragged clothes was reduced.
  • Magic Essence doesn’t have weight anymore.
  • Reduced bow charge time.
  • Added an Unstuck button to the menu.



We are also working on some improvements for the dedicated servers:

  • Server name will be displayed in the list of servers.
  • Fixed different issues related to the work of dedicated servers.
  • Increased maximum in players count in the mode menu (it is a recommendation: the number of players is only limited by the server configuration).

There are some other changes that we’ve implemented:
  • Increased checkpoint activation zone of teleports.
  • Now you can build in combat.
  • Stone Workbench now requires only 1 bone to craft.
  • Hornhead cooking quest can now be finished with any recipe that requires an apple.
  • Hornhead no longer takes away your bone pickaxe after you finish the quest.
  • Building mode tooltip no longer disappears in combat.
  • Burning damage from staffs was decreased.
