Group-movement is now in Beta

The Group-Movement feature has, at long last, reached Beta. Let's talk about what this is, what it's not, and whether you might want to check it out.
The whats and the whys
The Group-Movement feature allows you to use a lasso tool to select up to fifty creatures at a time, and then control them as a group.

You can move and rotate them, make them attack, emote, delete them, and more.

The goals of this Beta are to allow us all to test the basic functionality, identify issues, and hone this for release to the rest of the community.

As such, we haven't yet turned our attention to the visuals. The lasso is a placeholder, and many small visual details are sub-par. However, these are contained issues, and we know we can fix the most important ones before release.

As with the previous Beta, we want to allow people who don't mind braving an unfinished feature to try it out without any risk to their existing creations.

We do this by making a separate branch of TaleSpire that you can opt into. This branch has its own servers, so none of your existing campaigns or boards are available, and nothing you do on the branch will break your boards outside the branch.
Is it for you?
We wouldn't recommend it if you don't enjoy messing around with unfinished and broken things. But if you do, then check out the guide linked below.

Beta Guide: https://talespire.com/welcome-to-the-group-movement-beta

Do note that we are not aiming to support every movement option for groups out of the gate. So while keyboard control or snapping are considered "missing" features, group teleport isn't something in the plan for the first release of Group-movement.
When will it release to everyone?
We aren't setting a fixed date as it depends on what bugs we find and which we feel need fixing before release. We are expecting two weeks, though.
And that's all!
It's a blast to finally be putting this in your hands. Thanks for checking this out folks, and we hope you enjoy this new toy!

Dev-Log: Group movement lasso

Heya folks,

I don't often post dev-logs here, but the community has grown a bunch since last time, so I thought I'd drop by.

You can find the full post on our site here, but here is the fun bit:

The lasso works!

From here, the focus is bugs, performance, and getting it ready to ship. Of course, we'll be replacing the red blob with something nicer too :)

I'm super excited to get this out to you, but in the meantime, I'll keep you apprised of the happenings in the dev-logs if that is your thing.

Until next time!

Peace.

Early Access Content Pack 14: Insectoid Overlords

We, for one, welcome our new insectoid overlords.

In this latest pack, you'll find the following new assets:

A bunch of Modern Office Props
 • Giant Worm Mini
 • 3 Insectoid Minis
 • 1 Citizen mini
 • 2 Chrome statue props
 • Music track “Techno Mystics”

We also have a fix and an improvement to current content:

 • Improved textures and meshes for the Tavern tileset
 • Fixed Industrial ramp - now walkable

As for upcoming content, we’re currently experimenting with ships. This will take some time to get right, so meanwhile, keep an eye out for smaller packs in the coming weeks.

Once again, thank you all for your amazing support!

NOTE: Some of the changes caused most assets to be rebuilt, hence the large download size. Apologies!

Area-of-effect markers are live!

A fright lasts but a moment, but true horrors linger. Track them now with AOE markers.

With the latest update, any ruler can be right-clicked and turned into an AOE that persists between play sessions and is even included in published boards.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

As work continues and we expand our toolbox of rulers, they will also be available as AOEs. We also have ideas for some fun visuals, but every feature has to start somewhere, and we are starting here :)

Once again, some wonderful folks checked out the Beta giving excellent feedback. It all helps us keep TaleSpire on the right track.

Along with this feature, we also have a couple of fixes:
 • The clear search button works again
 • The line ruler now supports vertical and slide adjustment via the usual hotkeys

Until next time everyone,

We hope you have a great day.
