Roller-beta update 2

[p]Hello! [/p][p]The rewrite of the roller is soon to be released. Thanks to community feedback, we have some tweaks and fixes.[/p]
  • [p]GMs can no longer steal dice[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug that manifested in not being able to spawn dice after recovering from a lost connection[/p]
  • [p]Fixed a bug that let players see rolls that should have been private to the GM[/p]
  • [p]Fixed the dice not highlighting the correct face on the login scene.[/p]
[p]With that lot done, we are pretty sure this is good to go. We will give it another day or so for your testing, and then it will ship.

Roller Beta Update 1

[p]Hey again,[/p][p][/p][p]We have just pushed an update to the roller-beta branch with a fix for the following bug:[/p]
  • [p]Clicking on the "remove" radial menu button while the cursor is over a d4 or d6 could cause an exception.[/p]
[p]We only have one other known bug, and that's for the dice on the login scene\[0], so we are looking good for a release soon.[/p][p][/p][p]Thanks for the help, folks![/p][p][/p][p]\[0] We have a fix for this already. It will ship soon.[/p]

Beta: Rerolling the roller

[p]It’s high time for a Beta![/p][p]You can find all the details and instructions on how to join the beta over here: [/p][p]https://talespire.com/welcome-to-the-roller-rewrite-beta[/p][p][/p][p]We have completely rewritten the code that handles the synchronization of the dice. The improvements are:[/p]
  • [p]The data sent over the internet to keep the dice in sync has been halved. Often it can drop to a third of the previous rate[/p]
  • [p]The code that handles updating the dice update takes a tenth of the time for large rolls[/p]
  • [p]There used to be cases where clearing large numbers of dice would crash the game. These bugs are fixed.[/p]
  • [p]If you have two copies of the game open, you can now pick up your own rolls from both clients.[/p]
  • [p]Rolls don’t despawn if the person who rolled them leaves the board (for example, if they lost connection)[/p]
[p]One side effect of these changes is that GMs can now pick up any roll. Doing so takes ownership of the roll. We are leaning towards disabling this again, but we’d like to hear your feedback.[/p][p]Lastly, we’ve added a roll icon on every dice result in the history. This allows you to add it to the dice tray with a left-click. Or you can add the roll to your inventory by right-clicking and dragging it to the inventory bar.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]The Beta will run for a week before this gets merged into the live branch. Patch: Fixed Unity vulnerability

[h2]Greetings![/h2][p][/p][p]Last week Unity sent out a email detailing some security vulnerability in post 2021 versions of the Unity Engine. https://unity.com/security/sept-2025-01

We've updated our version of the Editor to address this issue, so that this latest build of TaleSpire has the fix included. This also forced an update on multiple packages we use, which we have been running testing on today. It should all be as before, but, please let us know if we've missed anything.


One small change also made it into this patch:

  • [p]Scaled down the Cryo chamber to 75% size. Deprecated the old size.[/p]
