Mini Feature: Water Tiles (Resin Blocks)

Today we're releasing the highly requested Water Tiles! It is far from a perfect solution, unfortunately. There will be some oddities when entering the water tiles with your camera, as well as other quirks players will become familiar with. We might be able to address some soon; others will have to wait for a future water solution.

We're looking into doing some non-geometric water shapes for an upcoming update, so keep an eye out for those.
Patch Additions and Fixes:
• Added ability to toggle picking of "transparent" tiles in Build Mode.
 • 2 Water tiles (1x1 and 2x2)
 • Shadow offset on Skull on Pike, and some Office Props are fixed.

Thank you all for your patience and persistence.
Till next time! Have a great one.

Mini Feature: Open Logs and Settings Directory

Not much to say about this one!

When working out issues, it's often beneficial to see the logs, but finding the files can be a pain. This button opens up the location where the logs, keyboard config, and a few other things are stored.

Ciao

Mini Feature: Dice Command

Hey folks, in this update, we add a very small feature. When the chat dialog is open, you can now type "!" followed by a dice roll to populate the dice tray with those dice.

This currently uses the same rather limited dice descriptor strings as the dice URLs. However, when we tackle proper dice macros, this feature will be upgraded to support them.

While there is a technical description of the dice URL scheme here, it's not very approachable. Here instead, are a few examples.
 • !d12 One D12
 • !3d12 Three D12s
 • !2d8-d12 2D8s minus one D12
 • !3d4+5 3D4s plus five
 • !Strike:d20 A roll called "Strike" composed of one D20
 • !d20/2d4 Two dice groups. One composed of one D20, and another composed of two D4s

We hope this is useful to some, even in this period before full dice-macro support.

ALSO! For those who want to ask a question during Thursday's dev stream but cannot make it, we have added a channel in our discord server for you. Simply drop your question in #dev-stream-questions, and we'll do our best to address it on the stream.

Until next time,
Peace.

TaleSpire Dev Stream on 10th November

Heya folks,

Dev Stream World Clock

Just wanted to let you know that we are doing another dev stream on twitch.tv/bouncyrock next Thursday at 10pm Norway time (click here to see the time in your timezone).

This will be a general catchup. We'll show off some stuff we have in progress (such as water tiles) and take as many of your questions as we can in the two-hour slot.

As many people obviously won't be able to make it, we will set up a place to leave questions for the stream. We aren't decided where yet, but we'll let you know as soon as we do.

Hope you have a great weekend!
Bye

Group-Movement Beta Update

Heya folks,

We've just pushed a significant update to the group-movement Beta, so let's talk about the changes you will see there.

NONE! (with some caveats)

Yup! This update is all about behind-the-scenes changes, some of which we hope people will feel rather than see.

First, there is a significant improvement to both single and lasso picking when you have large numbers of creatures.

Using the m1 mac, we've tested selecting groups of creatures from an army of six hundred and are satisfied with the picking performance (for now)[0].

Next, we've worked on the backend communication to send fewer messages for group actions. This is one that you are less likely to feel directly, but it will improve the feature's stability.

Due to the backend changes, we have reset the state for the Beta, so existing boards will be gone.

Ok folks, that's all for now. More news soon!

Peace

[0] Specifically picking though. Large numbers of creatures generally aren't performing that well on lower-end machines. However, we are working on this for the mac release.
