TaleSpire Bug Fix Patch 3

UPDATE: The downgrade button has been removed temporarily because of some newfound issues. It will reappear within the next few days as problems get sorted out.

Heya folks,

In this patch, we focus on hide-volumes that went missing during the upgrade to Chimera.

We fixed the bug that caused them to be lost, however, we also wanted to restore them for folks who already upgraded.

To that end, we have added a temporary downgrade button to the campaign panel in the main menu.

If you use it, it will downgrade the boards in the campaign to the state they were in before Chimera. You can then re-upgrade the campaign to regain access, and if all goes well, your hide-volumes.

Any boards in the campaign the were created after the Chimera update should be unchanged.

Please note, this is not a panacea for all issues. As of today, it is really is only useful for restoring hide-volumes. However, we will let you know if that changes.

We have also temporarily disabled the duplicate board button as that is currently broken. For now, please use the board publishing panel instead.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Plenty more fixes coming next week.

TaleSpire Bug Fix Patch 2

Hi everyone.

We are back again with another bugfix patch. This one fixes up a very prevalent crash when loading boards.

The issue was due to mistakes in the deserialization of scripted assets. That's pretty vague, but the specifics are long and tedious :P

Hope this helps some of you out there.

See you in the next patch.

TaleSpire Bug Fix Patch 1

Hi everyone, thanks for checking out Chimera and reporting the bugs so thoroughly.

This patch fixes a bug affecting the loading of all boards which contained hide-volumes. It was responsible for numerous crashes and graphical glitches, so it's a good first one to get cleared up.

This patch also fixes a bug where it would try and upload creature data even if you weren't the GM. It is not too visible during play but paired with a server fix earlier today, connection stability is improved.

We also have the first tweak to improve line-of-sight. Creatures are still visible on load, which is a problem, but we will be tackling that soon.

Warmest regards from the whole team, and thanks again for bearing with these initial issues.

p.s. Just something to add, in yesterday's patch we included a fix for creature names not showing on tab

Chimera Beta release!

The time is here for backers to start playing around with the Chimera build. It does feature some new things, such as :
  • Asset Library, for better tile/prop/creature discoverability
  • New iteration on building tools allowing for better placement and clipping.
  • Prop system, for more granular placement of objects
  • Board Copy Publishing, to share a copy of your boards.
  • A nicer-looking Chat/Event History Tab, replacing the History tab.
  • Experimental In-Game-Chat
  • Key Binding
  • Tutorials (Work in Progress)
  • HelpBar (Work in Progress)
  • Chimera Miniature!

Coming within the next couple of weeks:
  • Party Line-of-Sight
  • Experimental Fog of War
  • Final Tutorials
  • Final HelpBar

Chimera is a pretty massive update for us, it might appear a bit more trivial on the surface, but TaleSpire has essentially been rewritten to accommodate future scalability and stability. We were reaching the ceiling with what could be done with GameObjects in Unity when trying to scale up to the type of content you folks were creating. Moving away from this meant changing how the game draws its graphics as well as how physics works. (Dice and moving creatures etc.)

Please keep this in mind when launching TaleSpire after this update. Some things will feel quite different, and there will be bugs in places where there previously wasn't, and stuff like controlling creatures and building, might feel a bit janky at times.

These bugs will be addressed within the next couple of weeks as we get ready for the Early Access release. We will also finalize things like Tutorials and UI feedback during that time.

We're thrilled with the direction Chimera has taken, and we hope you all bear with us in the time leading up to the Early Access as there will be more bugs than usual as we patch the final things together.

Please allow a while for us to work out the most pressing bugs that will occur when the new beta goes out.

Our kindest regards,
The Bouncyrock Team

Scheduled 24-hour server Maintenance

(8 pm GMT Tuesday 30th to 8 pm GMT Wednesday 31st of March)

With the release of Chimera onto the Beta Live branch at 8 pm GMT on Wednesday 31st of March, we need to take the servers down 24 hours prior, starting at 8 pm GMT Tuesday.

Because of the significant changes to the server structure, we need some time to make sure everyone can move over to the new version, hence the 24 hours.

Once Chimera is available, the next couple of weeks will be heavy on the bug fixes, and final usability touches before the release of the Early Access on the 14th of April.

We're incredibly excited to get everyone into Chimera to get more hands-on feedback on the upgrades.

I know we say this a lot, but thanks again for all the fantastic support. This community is amazing!

Best regards,

The Bouncyrock Team
