Change your skin

Howdy, folks,

It's been almost two weeks since the last update.
The v1.12.0 is a great success, comments are extremely positive, and it's heartwarming.

It makes me happy to know that you are happy about the work done. It gives me the motivation to work on v1.13.0.
Let me tell you about what's coming up with the next big update.

First off, this week I had fiber optics installed in my office. When it comes to working and sending releases to Steam, it really does go faster.
Unfortunately, it took a whole day to install the fiber. In the long run, it's worth it, for sure.

As for the next big release, I've started working on the suggestions that have been made since the last release.
I've removed the ability to remake GoTY, since you can already remake the original games, there is no need to remake GoTY.

The interface that allows you to furnish the studios has been slightly revised, it should be nicer to navigate. Otherwise I started the major work, City Game Studio's characters.

The goal is to be able to add accessories to your character. Earrings, beard, mustache, customize hair color, change the color of your clothes ... Well, I'm making good progress at the moment. And I think I'll have something playable in next week. But I still have to manage migrations to make old savegames compatible.

While making these changes, I took the time to optimize how many images the game loads to render the characters.

That's it for this week, you already have a taste of what's to come for next week, so I'll leave you there.
See you next Saturday,
Xavier aka Binogure

Two genres for one theme

Hello folks,

Today is the big day! The huge update is available. It took a little more than a month of hard work to bring you a much more polished game. The changelog is huge, so I'm not going to waste time and tell you about the biggest changes in this version.
2 genres for 1 theme
It's a very requested feature and has been for a long time. I have the pleasure to announce you that it is possible to make a post-apocalyptic Simulation/Strategy game. In order to add this feature, I had to change the interface of the game. Thanks to what I learned during the last years, the interface is cleaner, more instinctive and moreover, it's pretty.

Combining two genres means that you can try new genres even though you've never made a contract. Let's say you're an expert in Adventure games, and you're not an expert in Strategy games. When you make an Adventure/Strategy game, you are going to use both your Adventure and Strategy game expertise. Once the game is released, the game report gives you more information about both genres individually. I think this is the best solution, because you don't have to make contracts or bad games to learn how to make a new game genre, you can now combine genres. It's less risky, and it pays more.
The interface
Revamped and revised. It's as simple as that. Not everything has changed, but a lot of it has already evolved for the better. I'm thinking of continuing to work on improving the interface to make the game flashy and beautiful.

To get a smooth, non-blurry interface. I had to rewrite part of the engine I use to make City Game Studio. I've made big changes to the engine in the past, and I still continue to add features that improve UI rendering.
Events
In City Game Studio, when you own a part of a competitor, you may receive an email asking you to sell your shares. The selling price is attractive, and should encourage you to sell. However, if you want to prevent a sale from occurring, all you have to do is buying enough shares of a competitor so that a competitor can't buy it back. And in this case, if you refuse to sell, you are fined a huge amount. Now, you don't have to pay fines, only threats.

In addition to these changes, when a unique genre is unlocked, the genre logo appears in the email. This is a bit more glamorous than a simple sentence.
Other changes
This interface that allows you to buy new offices has been completely redone. You can now filter by purchase price, rental price, by square footage, and additionally sort by price or square footage. Honestly, this feature took me longer than expected, but the final result is just wonderful.

The world leaderboard has been slightly revised. The calculation that determines your score has been changed. Making a console gives you more points than before, and once the City Game Studio leaderboard appears a sentence tells you if you are in the top 1% of players. It adjusts according to your position in the leaderboard of course.
To conclude
In short, I had a lot of fun working on this new version of City Game Studio, and many of you sent me feedback. All this to say that even if I don't always answer everyone, because I don't have enough time, I read you, and I take note of all your comments. Your suggestions are relevant, some are more detailed than others. Your enthusiasm motivates me to continue the development of City Game Studio years after its early access release.

Thank you all for helping me.
And we'll see you soon for the upcoming version.

Coming soon

Hello everyone!

The next update is almost ready. I will take another week to test and update the Steam page.
But v1.12.0 should be out soon. And that's great, because this update is huge!

Before going further, I'd like to tell you about what I've been working on this week!
The interface of the game has greatly evolved. I'm pretty happy with the result, and I think I can say with some confidence that the interface of the next version will be final.

Frankly, I think you'll really like this new version, with all the visual changes that come with it.

I could talk more about it, but I'd rather save a little bit for the next update announcement.
The v1.12.0 will be released on Thursday April 6th.
In the meantime, if you want, you can already test this new version by switching to the unstable branch of Steam.

Thank you for reading.
I wish you a great weekend.

A brand new interface

Hello folks,

It's already the end of the week, and I've been working hard on the interface of City Game Studio all week.

It's also the end of the spring sale, I hope you took advantage of it, because as announced before I set the price of City Game Studio in different currencies. Don't worry, price remains the same in Euros/USD.

Let's talk about the upcoming changes. The assignment of specialists. Originally done quickly in 2019, this panel had hardly been reworked since.
Therefore, I've added some useful information and especially a more compact and condensed view. Before, you used to be able to see at most 3 specialists when the panel was open.
Now you can see a dozen, and only useful information is displayed. Colors have been added so that you can see at a glance who is available, who is busy and who is already assigned to the current task. In short, it's all good!

I also improved another part of the interface. It's the panel that lists the offices that are available for rent or purchase.
The original panel was done in 2017, and it was one of the first interfaces I had created. It was functional and got the job done. But today, I felt like improving it to make it more efficient. Several filters are available, one to filter by price, and another to filter by office surface. In addition, there are sorting by surface or by price. Once again, I want your game experience on City Game Studio to be smooth, and that the next version will blow you away!

Working on the interfaces takes time, and redoing these two panels took me the whole week.
So that's all for this week and we'll see you next Saturday.

Have a good weekend,
Xavier aka Binogure

It's coming along!

Hello everyone !

Just before talking about the update, I want to tell you about the Binogure Studio bundle which is on special offer right now!
A 42% discount applies on this bundle, take advantage of it while it's available!

How nice is this weekend? Nice weather, hopefully not too hot!
Great news for you, I made a lot of progress this week!

I'm telling you about it, as I do every Saturday of course.
Last week, I did not publish a version on the unstable branch of Steam. In fact, I couldn't do it all in one week.
So I'm happy to announce that the unstable branch of Steam has been updated yesterday. For those who are curious, here are the changes in this new version of City Game Studio.

Firstly, the major change. It is possible to create games by combining 2 game genres. So you can make Simulation/Space games, or even Action/Simulation games.
There are some limitations though. Some game genres cannot be combined. As you know in City Game Studio, there are genres like Action/RPG that exist without being a combination of genres. Well, these genres are not combinable. However, you can combine the Action genre with the RPG genre to make an Action/RPG game in your own way, that is possible.

I had to rework a lot of aspects of City Game Studio for this feature. So I took the opportunity to improve certain algorithms to make the game experience more pleasant.

Many players have told me that the interface of v1.11.0 is much more appealing to the eye. However, some aspects could clash with the rest of the game. That's why I continue to work on the interface of City Game Studio.

It's not over yet!
Well, for today, it's over, but we'll meet again next Saturday for the rest of the v1.12.0 progress.

Meanwhile, I wish you a great weekend.
