Quality of life update

Hello folks,

This week has been incredible. Almost 9,000 of you played the game in less than a week! This has never happened before for City Game Studio! And all of this for a game that’s over 5 years old. Honestly, you all are amazing!

I’ve carefully and happily read your feedback! Some of you have spent way too much time playing, and I’m sorry for you... You might need to turn off your computer and go... No, I’m just kidding!! You can start another game, and just release one more new title. Just that. And then when it releases, you’ll just publish one more because, well, it doesn’t take that long. And before you know it, the sun’s up and the day has begun!

Jokes aside, you’ve been super numerous and enthusiastic, and your feedback has been incredibly helpful. There were crashes, and I thank you for letting me know! Thanks to you, everything is back in order, and all the crashes are covered!

There were also bugs, both small and not-so-small. In any case, this update aims to fix them all while adding some quality of life improvements. For example, I’ve added an option that allows the game to pause as soon as you release a video game. It helps optimize your time better.

Among the other changes are mostly fixes. The right-hand panel, brand new and shiny, had a few bugs. Pagination was always displayed even when it wasn’t needed, and clicking on a button would change the graphs when it should have just refreshed them.

Another important change/fix is the summary when a console is removed from the market. The summary panel had calculation errors, which might have made it seem like taxes were driving you to bankruptcy, but that wasn’t the case. It was more a pricing issue with the console. And by the way, the suggested price is now a bit higher to help you make more money.

There are other changes in this update, and they’re all listed in the changelog, so I encourage you to read it or simply launch City Game Studio and enjoy the update!

Thank you for reading, and once again, thank you for playing in such great numbers this week. You are incredible!

Take care, Xavier aka Binogure

 • Set the tooltip delay to 0.05 secs
Mod maker
• Add new concurrents to the modmaker (so you can rename them)
Bugfix
• When using large fonts, some buttons are unreachable
 • Studio furnishing => blue panel hide the furnitures buttons
 • Released game panel: clicking on a page would mess up the charts
 • Released game panel: the current page shouldn't be shown if there's only one page
 • Released game panel: Charts were off the panel for games you published (as a publisher)
 • Custom platform: The discontinuation panel now show the right numbers (Raw income / Net income...)
 • Achievement: Game report not counting (sandbox game it was not taken into account, it's been changed)

Crash fix

Hey folks!

It's an amazing day! You are more than 400 playing a 7-year-old game!
It is really amazing! Thank you so much!

But, some of you might experience some nasty crash when launching the game.
I spent the whole day figuring out what's happening till I found the root cause!

It was due to the interactive thread loading, which was poorly written (I wonder who wrote it huh?!).
Anyway, I overhauled it, and it works like a charm, this update brings more stability when loading or starting a new game!

I'm really sorry for that crash. I should have fixed it years ago, but better later than never right?!

[Edit]
This patch is a bit bigger since I also fixed 2 other crashes and 2 minor bugs (one for the CZ language, and the other one is about having stuttering when loading a new game).

Thank you for playing this game.
Have a nice day.
Take care.

The banker update

Hello folks!

I'm excited to announce the release of City Game Studio v1.20.0, a significant update that enhances the game development simulation experience. This update brings numerous improvements and new features that will redefine your virtual game studio management journey.
UI Overhaul: Streamlined for Success
The user interface has been reimagined to make your journey as a game studio magnate more intuitive and engaging. The studio management panel has been streamlined, and the bottom menu has been reworked for enhanced accessibility. Now, with a single click, you can access a popup menu that guides you efficiently to your desired destination.

The staff and hiring panels now include studio-specific filters, allowing for more precise management of your growing empire. The convention and marketing campaign interfaces have been simplified, focusing on what truly matters - your strategic decisions.
Pagination: A New Chapter in Released games
Your studio's released games are now easier to browse. I've introduced pagination to the released game panel, including self-published games, trade-published titles, publishing deals, remakes, game ports, and Game of the Year winners. This view reduces the CPU usage and improve the performances overall.
Strategic Acquisitions: The Art of the Deal
The process of buying out competitors has been revamped. Now, you have the power to decide the fate of acquired studios, video game catalogs, and staff. This adds a new layer of strategy to your expansion plans.
Quality of Life Improvements: Work Smarter, Not Harder
Several quality-of-life improvements have been introduced to streamline your workflow. You can now withdraw staff from studios or your entire company with a single button press, rename convention centers and universities on the fly, and edit your company details directly from the financial tab.
The Banker: Your Financial Guardian... or Nemesis
The stakes have been raised. Game over is now solely in the hands of the banker. However, in times of financial distress, you'll have options. You can sell your game engine, part with your latest custom platform, or even offload a studio to avoid bankruptcy. For those who make it to 1990, prepare to face a new banker inspired by a famous CEO.
Competitor Dynamics: A More Realistic Challenge
The competitor acquisition algorithm has been revamped to provide a more balanced and challenging experience. The difficulty of acquiring a competitor is now based on your company's score and the game's difficulty setting. You'll see your fan base grow with each acquisition, and admire your conquered rival's logo as a trophy of your success.
Performance Boost: Faster, Leaner, Meaner
City Game Studio now launches faster and uses less RAM, ensuring a smoother experience across all systems. The main menu now uses ~1.3G of RAM instead of ~2.5G, while in-game performance has been optimized to use ~1.9G instead of ~2.7G.
New Content: Fresh Faces and Logos
Prepare to face 13 new competitors in your quest for gaming dominance. I've also added 10 new logos for your company, along with a reworked company logo drawer to make your brand stand out. For those curious about the future, you can check out the upcoming games from Binogure Studio in the main menu.
Bugfixes and Polishing: A Smoother Ride
Numerous bugs have been squashed and existing features polished to ensure your game development journey is as smooth as possible. From improved Steam integration to fixed camera controls, every aspect of the game has been scrutinized and enhanced.
The Road Ahead
This update marks a significant milestone in the evolution of City Game Studio. I'm constantly working to improve and expand the game, driven by my passion for game development simulation and your invaluable feedback.
