CSGO fan creates procedurally generated aim map with "tens of millions" of variations

As one of the biggest and best Steam games, it's no surprise that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has a thriving community workshop scene, with oodles of fan-made maps and skins to try out. Occasionally, however, something really impressive hits the FPS game's workshop, such as a new custom Inferno aim map that works in procedural generation - meaning, there are "tens of millions" of map variations, according to its maker.

Orel's 'Aim Rogue Inferno' procedurally generated map offers a new layout each round, made up of elements in the style of CS:GO's Inferno map. According to a clip showcasing the map (below), it includes three types of map generation - symmetrical, half-symmetrical, and non-symmetrical - as well as support for custom seeds, full customisability, and map variations into the tens of millions.

To give it a go, the creator explains on the map's Steam workshop page, all you have to do is walk into a 'start' area and wait for the map generation to do its thing. As you can see in the clip, it looks like the map isn't huge in scale - but it's pretty huge in scope.

CS:GO star woxic dropped from Cloud9

Cloud9 has confirmed it has terminated the contract of Özgür '⁠woxic' Eker. The news comes nearly two weeks after reports about the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player's uncertain future with the so-called "Colossus" began to circulate.

The Turkish AWPer, who joined Cloud9 late last year in a deal worth $1.4 million, was reportedly being benched due to "non-performance related issues." However, Cloud9's general manager Henry 'HenryG' Greer has now confirmed this is not the case and he has instead been released.

"There's no denying woxic's skill and explosive world-class potential in CS:GO," his statement reads. "However it's also no secret that recent months have been especially rough for him. As a team, we were unable to overcome various challenges that affected his performance that included an unreliable high ping and not to mention a compromising time zone."

Counter-Strike legend GeT_RiGhT retires from competitive play

Christopher 'GeT_RiGhT' Alesund has stepped down from competitive Counter-Strike. The 30-year-old Swede announced via his Twitch channel that, while he has re-signed with Dignitas - the team he first moved to at the beginning of 2020 - it would be in a content creation capacity and not a competitive one.

Later in a tweet, GeT_RiGhT gives his thanks to all of his "ex teammates, TOs, organisations, partners, friends, fans, and so on." "I couldn't dream of a career I had if it wasn't for you," he says.

GeT_RiGhT has enjoyed a long and illustrious career in Counter-Strike esports, having been hailed as the second best CS player in the world by HLTV during the CS 1.6 era in 2010 and 2011, and the very best in the world at Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in 2013 and 2014. Following teasers on his social media channels, many were tipping the CS:GO icon to make the switch to Valorant esports. However, it looks like his competitive days are now over, regardless of the game.
