Now's your last chance to play CS:GO Operation Broken Fang

Time is running out for the current Counter-Strike: Global Offensive operation. Having kicked off in early December last year, Operation Broken Fang is now in its final week, which means you've got just a few days left to wrap up everything you've got left to complete.

As was announced with its arrival late last year, the CS:GO Operation Broken Fang end date is April 30 - so, you can carry on getting stuck in until this coming Friday. While the rollout of the op's 16 weekly missions is now complete, if you're an operation pass holder and have got any left to finish up - and, as a result, any stars left to scoop to spend on in-game rewards - you've got until then to do so.

These prizes include a bunch of new 'SWAT' and 'The Professionals' agents that you can use in any map, a new weapon case featuring 17 community-designed skins and some other bits, three weapon collections (Ancient, Control, and Havoc), and some other in-game cosmetics.

Ninjas in Pyjamas sign dev1ce on a three-year CS:GO contract

Four-time Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major winner Nicolai 'dev1ce' Reedtz has today announced he's closed the door on his time with Astralis, an organisation he helped set up in January 2016. The 25-year-old Dane now joins Ninjas in Pyjamas by "personal request" on a three-year deal.

His transfer comes after Astralis struggled to halt its decline in 2021, with dev1ce himself hinting at roster changes in an interview with HLTV two weeks ago. This now marks the first time in eight years that the AWPer will play without Peter 'dupreeh' Rasmussen and Andreas 'Xyp9x' Højsleth.

"Leaving Astralis is tough, to say the least," dev1ce says in a press release. "The boys will always be like family to me, but this COVID era has left me thinking a lot; where do I see myself when it all goes back to normal? I've lived in Sweden for some time now, speaking the language and I'm really hyped about this young and exciting NIP project. To join one of the most successful organizations, where so many legends have played, inspires me."

Kasper Hvidt on dev1ce's Astralis departure: "No team depends on just one person"

Today, Counter-Strike fans woke up to the news that one of Astralis' core members, Nicolai 'dev1ce' Reedtz, has signed a three-year contract with Ninjas in Pyjamas. While news of the transfer has sent shockwaves through the CS:GO scene, Astralis has been preparing for it for weeks.

In an interview with The Loadout, Kasper Hvidt, director of sports at Astralis, says the team first became aware of dev1ce's intentions when he approached management about a month ago with a desire to establish a better life in Stockholm. "Nicolai has been a really important player for us," Hvidt says, "which is why, when he showed up with such a desire, we took it seriously.

"We have to listen to the guys, and yes, we have contracts, and yes, we have to respect the obligations of those contracts, but these are young human beings, and we have to take care of them in the best way possible."

CS:GO modder launches eerie night-time version of popular map Insertion2

Insertion2 is a fan-made Counter-Strike: Global Offensive map, launched earlier this year and recently updated, which offers a realistic-looking part-urban, part-rural map for Classic and Deathmatch that's been a bit of a hit with fans. Filled with a variety of open and close-quarters combat spaces, it's one of the most popular maps on the CS:GO Steam Workshop right now - and it's just got a spooky night-time spin.

CS:GO map creator Oskmos' new Insertion2 Night map casts an eerie reddish-grey darkness over the whole map, with the only main sources of light around to help you spot foes being pools of light from street lamps. While you'd probably assume all the lights would still be on in the map's supermarket, making the close-up-and-personal combat at least as equally challenging as the day-time version, from the mod's images it's not entirely clear if that's the case. Gulp.

Similarly, the night-time Insertion2's many other spaces - pedestrian subways, train platforms, forested water tower area, and, if those dark windows are to be believed, some of the offices - are shrouded in darkness. So, it's easy to see where this version is going to throw some additional challenges at players trying to keep a weather eye out for enemies throughout the map.
