CS:GO fan gives the FPS game's Aztec map an impressive "Ancient-style" rework

A Counter-Strike: Global Offensive fan has given players a way to tackle one of the FPS game's fan-favourite maps with a whole new twist, through a custom creation that gives it the flavour of another map entirely. Creator and CS:GO fan Henge has posted a new mod that reworks the Aztec bomb defusal map to give it an "Ancient-style" design.

"Here is de_aztec in Ancient style," the modder says, explaining: "I wanted to give the Aztec veterans a chance to play their loved map in a new beauty design." As you can see in the before-and-after-style clip below, the transformation is pretty incredible. The blueprint of Aztec is still very much there, and it doesn't look like fans of the map will find it especially different to navigate - but, its whole aesthetic is given a new flavour, styled after the map introduced in last year's CS:GO Operation Broken Fang.

The map's brickwork is chunkier, more ornate, and given a more realistic, ramshackle look (well, they are ruins of an ancient site, after all). Plus, some new details - like additional structures and tall trees - are added, and the whole effect is pretty darn gorgeous.

CS:GO veteran karrigan returns to FaZe Clan

FaZe Clan's former in-game leader Finn 'karrigan' Andersen has returned to the organisation's Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster after leaving mousesports. The Dane, who played for FaZe for more than two years between 2016 and 2018, is now back with the team following the retirement of Olof 'olofmeister' Kajbjer.

During his first stint with FaZe, karrigan helped guide the organisation to a number of big tournament wins, such as an ELEAGUE Premier title in 2017 and EPICENTER 2018. Despite now being 30 years old, the rifler has still managed to stick to his winning ways during his time at mousesports, which included winning Season 10 of the ESL Pro League. During his decorated career, which has seen him represent other big name organisations such as TSM, Astralis, and Fnatic, karrigan has won over $1 million in tournament prize money.

While many older CS:GO pros have looked for a fresh start in esports by switching over to Valorant, karrigan still looks in prime shape to keep competing at the highest level and is clearly keen to bring even more titles to FaZe.

This fan-made CS:GO map lets you play hide-and-seek in a swish and sneaky pad

The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive modding community has been busy lately. We've very recently reported on a very handy fan-made CS:GO training map that helps you nail your aim and movement as well as a complete 'Bloodsport' CS:GO skin line, five years in the making. Now, another community treat has caught our eye, in the form of a neat new hide-and-seek map.

Simply called 'Hide-and-Seek House', modder S224's new community creation sees you and some CS:GO-loving buddies head into a house - a little reminiscent in places of a GTA V Vinewood-style pad - for a good few rounds of, well, hiding and seeking. "There are lots of cool hideouts and passages on the map," the creator says, adding that they "tried to make every element on the map perfectly finished the way I wanted". Oh, and they tease that there's "one interesting place worth seeing" in it. Hmm.

As you can see in the preview clip below, from the outside the place looks like a regular - if relatively swish - residential pad, with gardens, a garage, (empty) pool, and even a jungle gym.

CS:GO veteran GuardiaN confirms free agency

One of the Counter-Strike scene's most well-known players, veteran AWPer Ladislav 'GuardiaN' Kovács, has announced he is a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Natus Vincere.

The Slovakian, who has been benched since the signing of Ilya 'Perfecto' Zalutskiy in January 2020, is an iconic name in Na'Vi's history, but failed to replicate the form of yesteryear since rejoining the organisation in 2019. Between his first and second stints with Na'Vi, GuardiaN represented FaZe Clan, winning a number of big events such as ELEAGUE Premier and ESL One New York in 2017 and EPICENTER in 2018.

However, he could only land just a four-month stint on Na'Vi's roster before sitting on the sidelines for what has now been over a year. The 29-year-old AWPer says in a tweet that he is now open to any offers and is willing to "grind back my way to the top level events."
