CS:GO wins the 2020 "Labor of Love" Steam Award!

CS:GO has won the 2020 "Labor of Love" Steam Award, voted on by the Steam Community and awarded to a previously released game which continues to receive updates.

In 2020 we shipped a number of gameplay updates, including adjustments to multiple maps, improved communication tools, weapon changes, player pings, new game modes, 1v1 arenas, and more.

We also introduced agent patches and shipped new weapon cases, sticker collections, and Operation Broken Fang, which features an abundance of new content on its own.

The CS:GO team is proud to receive this award, and we look forward to shipping updates and new content to CS:GO in 2021.

Thank you for all your votes!

CS:GO coach kassad parts ways with Cloud9

After just four months at the helm of Cloud9's new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster, Aleksandar 'kassad' Trifunović has left. This is due to a "stylistic clash" between kassad's coaching vision and in-game leader Alex 'ALEX' McMeekin, according to the organisation.

Kassad was brought on by general manager Henry 'HenryG' Greer earlier this year to help him build the 'Colossus'. However after mixed results, the organisation has reached the decision to let him go during the current player break. There is no "bad blood" between kassad and the team though.

"No one is or was at fault and there is absolutely no bad blood between him, the org, or players," HenryG says on Twitter. "It simply felt like there was somewhat of a stylistic clash between the IGL and kassad's game, leading to a few to many compromises from a strategic point of view."

Neymar clutches up in CS:GO against Vitality pros ZywOo and shox

Team Vitality has arguably been the world's top team in Counter-Strike esports this year. A particularly strong finish to the year has seen them soar to the top of HLTV and the CSPPA's world rankings, and star player Mathieu 'ZywOo' Herbaut was recently awarded a massive new deal that would tie him down until 2024.

However, ZywOo and fellow Vitality star Richard 'shox' Papillon were left slightly red-faced after losing what seemed like a routine 3v1 - to Brazilian football star Neymar. As the only one left on his team, the PSG forward - playing for Team Neymar against French streamer Corentin 'Gotaga' Houssein's team as part of a Poker Stars sponsored stream - manages to pull off an insane three piece after planting the bomb against Gotaga, ZywOo, and shox.

Snaking around the bomb site and clinically gunning down ZywOo and co, Neymar posts a cheeky "?" into the game chat, and we're sure there's plenty more trash talk going on but our Portuguese isn't really up to scratch.

CS:GO star ZywOo signs new four-year Team Vitality contract

One of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's top talents right now, Mathieu 'ZywOo' Herbaut, has signed a new contract with Team Vitality which keeps him at the organisation until 2024.

The Frenchman, who turned 20 years old last month, has been an integral part of Vitality's climb to the top of the HLTV World Rankings and largely successful second half of 2020. Vitality has been the dominant force in the BLAST Premier Fall Series and won the Intel Extreme Masters XV Beijing event. While it couldn't end the season in winning fashion at the IEM XV Global Challenge, the news that ZywOo is now tied down for the next four years will be reason to celebrate for Vitality fans.

To celebrate the star AWPer's new long-term contract, Vitality plastered his face across its home city of Paris by projecting holograms onto landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe and the Pantheon
