The News About The News

Greetings to all astronauts and astronautesses in the letter space of the Breathedge universe. We’d like to anticipate your first question and answer it straight away: no, it didn’t hurt at all. Now we’d like to predict your second question: what on earth was the first question about? And this one, unfortunately, we are not able to answer. What we’re able is to break the outer space silence with one or two amazing anecdotes about what we’ve been doing lately, though.

It may be hard to believe, but what we’ve been doing lately is actually developing the second and the third chapters of Breathedge. Fancy that!
Our scenario writer recently became disenchanted with the idea of teaching his tortoise some kung-fu, when it couldn’t win a fight with the desktop shredder, so he finally finished the chapters. We’re not going to reveal all of them to you, of course, but we’re going to give you some random spoiler about, say, the feathered companion of the Man. No doubt you’ve been wondering about the fate and origins of the Chicken and asking yourself questions like: “Why is the Chicken immortal?” and “Is she, or is she not, immortal for reasons?”

The answer is: yes, she is, and yes, for reasons. The Chicken plays a major role in the world of victorious socialism and scientific progress. Her fate is tightly intertwined with the history of the world and reaches for the origins of the Breathedge funeral agency. It won’t be easy to see the full picture, but you will find one of the pieces of this puzzle in the open spaces of the most terrifying, most mysterious, and most secret part of the liner Unnamed, where you can come across the REAL monsters. This is all very serial!

So we’ve told you about the Chicken, now we can talk about some less significant things. We’d like to give you a sneak peek into the details of the expanding world of the game. In the new chapters, we plan to divide the world into several independent space zones, or biomes, if you will. We tactfully keep silent about the exact number of them for reasons that are vile, but important. Each biome will have its unique laws and mechanics. For example, the first chapter, or the first biome, includes basic flights, resource gathering, and craft; the only hurdle is the Man’s natural needs and a couple of electric shocks, and even that is only if you poke your face into the wires because of being too curious. The new zones will make you face their destructive nature, use new tools and features, and, perhaps, they will even make you think! Although, what is there to think — hit, break, and apply some tape to the helmet.

As we’ve finished our work on the game scenario, we’ve started our work on the English localization of the monologues, as well as the Russian and English voiceovers. We haven’t forgotten about our friends from other countries, and we keep in mind about each of you who is eager to help with localizing the game into other languages, and we’ll certainly localize the game into the most popular ones. However, we can promise this only when Breathedge moves from Early Access to the release. That means that when the fourth and fifth chapters are released, or somewhere near this event, everyone who speaks only Chinese, French, German, Polish, and a number of other languages, will have the opportunity to enjoy the game with fully adapted unfunny jokes without using online translators and grandma's dictionaries.

We’ve successfully tested the construction system, available in the Breathedge Constructor. We’ve listened to your opinions and read your comments, and we are thinking about some big improvements in the logic of construction with the decor. In the meantime, the bugs got out of their lair, but we made them crawl back; although they are still waiting for their moment to come. At the moment, our programmers in the person of one chicken, are working on the optimization of the code and models. They’ve also learned how to save and load the station with all the decor, and at any point of the galaxy. After the optimizations, the station will break down, of course, and will successfully pass the tests again, but let’s leave it for one of the next pieces of useless news.

We are planning to expand the variety of AI in the game. Space will slowly come to life, filled with extremely unreasonable pixels with different tasks. We wanted to introduce some aliens into the game, but we couldn’t find and persuade any to record some mocap animations for our game, that’s why we were forced to introduce robots instead. By the way, the robot named Buratissos is already rolling, raking the air with his hands, and doesn’t like to fall on his back when he is being thrown. The one who flats him on his back will be officially considered as a great hero.

The next things we’re going to tell you about are not entirely related to robots or to AI (even though they have one), but there will be thoughtless and annoying turrets in the game that will relentlessly pepper the Man with charges of unknown physical origin, making it difficult to play and enjoy the smell of freedom in a sweated space suit.

The vehicle is almost working. It refuels, breaks down, shines its headlight and goes at near-light speed. Don’t ask.

In response to all hardships, including the evil robots with turrets, the Man learned to skillfully shoot a blaster. We wanted to teach him how to shoot a bow, but due to the lack of knees in robots, we found this type of weapon completely useless.

And yes, the robots, blasters, turrets, vehicle, saves, and other useless stuff is already available in the Breathedge Constructor today.

The important news for our team is that we have a new full-time hen in our coop. She actively helps in artwork, and many strange new objects in the game will be created with her help. This once again underlines the fact that if you have a beautiful beak, a red comb, as well as confident experience in the gaming industry in any specialty (especially in C ++ and animations for UE4), then the doors of our coop are always open.

And finally, we’d like to remind you that you can expect the second and the third chapters somewhere around April. Or probably in May, although mom may let us go on summer vacation early, and this might postpone the release to unknown dates in 2072... But let's hope for the best! By the way, we have a real coffin. Why would we need a real coffin? Well, we are not eternal, so, who knows when it may suddenly come in handy. Or we may use it for a wild video that we are preparing for wild video fans, but we don’t know for sure.
