Truck Overhaul | Update v0.6.2.0

Welcome back ghost hunters, we've got some news for you.

To keep you busy until the Custom Difficulty Update comes out (soonTM), we're releasing this smaller update with some content for you to enjoy!

We’ve had reports of three new entities haunting several locations:
Deogen
Hidden Ability
  • Increased chance for DOTS and Ghost Writing evidence
  • Unique Spirit Box sound
    • Player has to be standing within 1m of the ghost
    • 33% chance with any question

Strength
  • Can always see all players
  • Chooses the closest player at the start of the hunt to chase
  • Changes target to the nearest player randomly during the hunt

Weakness
  • 40% average Sanity hunt threshold
  • Hunt speed is based on distance from the nearest player
    • Maximum speed of 3m/s if the nearest player is more than 6m away
    • Minimum speed of 0.4m/s if the nearest player is within 2.5m of you
Moroi
Hidden Ability
  • When answering through the spirit box the Moroi will Curse the player who asked the question
  • Can also be cursed when hearing a "paranormal sound" on the Parabolic Microphone
    • A Cursed player’s passive sanity drain is doubled
    • Standing in light or holding a lit candle will not stop the Curse’s sanity drain
    • Walking outside the location will pause the Curse
    • Consuming Sanity pills will remove the Curse

Strength
  • Hunt starting speed is based on average sanity %
  • Starting speed increases for every 5% your average sanity decreases, for example:
    • 50% average sanity = 1.5m/s
    • 25% average sanity = 1.875m/s
    • 0% average sanity = 2.25m/s

Weakness
  • Smudging the ghost lasts 12 seconds during hunts (instead of the normal 6 seconds)
Thaye
Strength
  • Increased chance for DOTS and Ghost Writing evidence
  • 75% Average Sanity threshold for hunts
  • 2.75 m/s hunt speed, with or without ‘line of sight’
  • 200% interaction rate
  • 200% chance for ghost events

Weakness
  • No acceleration during hunts
  • Every 1 – 2 minutes the ghost will try to age; If any players are inside the location and in the same room as the ghost it will succeed, if not 30 seconds will be added back on to the timer until it tries again.
  • Each ‘age’ will lower the ghost’s stats and traits.
    • -6% average sanity threshold for hunts
    • -0.175m/s hunt starting speed
    • -15% chance for ghost events
    • -15% interaction rate

Hidden Ability
  • Thaye can age a total of 10 times, and will have minimum stats:
    • 15% Average Sanity threshold for hunts
    • 1m/s hunt speed
    • 50% chance for ghost events
    • 50% interaction rate

If a mimic turns into a Thaye:
  • It will choose a random starting “age”
  • It will change into another ghost instead of aging

Our Voice recognition system has been completely replaced!

We are no longer relying on Windows' speech systems, meaning it supports many more languages and platforms, such as ‘GeForce Now’ and Steam Deck, with no setup required (and fixes that pesky tab-out bug).

  • You now only need to set your microphone in-game, instead of your ‘Windows Default Microphone’
  • You can now see the input volume of your microphone in the Audio Settings
  • Additional microphone input options have been added:
    • Voice Detector Sensitivity
    • Noise Suppression
  • Due to the new system only working if you are in a server, the voice recognition test has been removed.

Note: The above additional Audio options are only available while in-game, through the Journal’s Options menu

Currently supported languages:
  • English
  • German
  • French
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Japanese
  • Simplified Chinese
  • Traditional Chinese
  • Italian
  • Portuguese
  • Brazilian Portuguese
  • Dutch
  • Swedish
  • Turkish
  • Ukrainian
  • Czech
  • Greek
  • More languages will be added in a future update

  • The Truck has received new models, a new layout, and materials
  • Equipment is now placed on the wall in the Truck
Placing any equipment back on the wall, similarly to head cameras, will be added with the ‘Custom Difficulty’ update
  • When lit, the campfire in Maple Lodge Campsite will now increase the temperature of the area around it
  • The Maple Lodge Campfire will now show a hot temperature reading on a Thermometer
  • You can now buy four lighters and three salt shakers
  • Added new footstep sounds for the metal floor in the Truck and on the ramp

  • The number of free hiding spots will now be increased when playing multi-player games
    • Three players: +1 hiding spot
    • Four players: +2 hiding spots
  • The voice recognition splash-screen has been removed, as it is no longer needed
  • The map screen in the truck now has up and down arrows for changing floors, instead of a single button
  • When using their ability, Jinn will now leave EMF at the Fuse Box rather than where they are currently stood
  • You will now never see 'ghost mist' when the ghost type is an Oni
  • The cursor will no longer lock when playing in VR
  • All locations have had their lighting re-baked, to a higher quality, to help reduce any light leaks and artifacts
  • The chance for the Mare light ability has been slightly increased
  • Replaced the Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Greek, and Japanese fonts to be more readable

  • Sanity Pills can no longer be duplicated for extra uses
  • Sanity Pills will now give the correct insurance amount
  • You can now use the main menu boom-box in VR
  • The delay when taking a photo has been removed
  • Yurei can no longer drain your sanity when you are outside the location
  • Yurei will no longer stop interacting if they use their ability in the Willow garage
  • You can now interact with all interactable objects in VR
  • The photo camera sound will now muffle correctly between floors
  • You can no longer light Lighters with lit Candles
  • Candles can now be lit with other lit Candles
  • Candle and Lighter flames will now cast the correct shadows
  • The shoulder flashlight will no longer break when closing and opening the truck door
  • Fixed missing Korean and Traditional Chinese text
  • The controls text in the training will no longer overlap the keybind text
  • Potential fix for the VR runtime launching when playing without VR

Phasmophobia's got a couple new ghosts on the way

s usual the developers of Phasmophobia are doing their best to ruin my day by adding more ghosts, two to be precise, in the upcoming 0.6.2 update. They've posted some blurry text in a development blog on Steam. It doesn't take a genius to puzzle it out, but the implications are particularly awful:..

"You can run but you can't hide" from a new Phasmophobia ghost

Phasmophobia update 0.6.2 is going to add some new features to the Early Access multiplayer horror game, and two of those new features are ghosts. Kinetic Games hasn't fully revealed them yet, but they have provided a couple spooky teasers for the new haints that should be enough to get the goosebumps going.

The first of the two new ghosts has a name that starts with 'Mo,' and the smudged paper journal entry on the entity says something about being 'risen from the grave to drain' something - probably energy - from the living. The entry seems to say that its strength is becoming stronger the weaker its victim is, which sounds unnerving. Its weakness has something to do with hyperosmia, which is an overwhelming sensitivity to smell - so, bring along some garlic.

The name of the second new ghost begins with the letter D, and this type has apparently "been eluding ghost hunters for years," according to the journal entry. Its strength is the ability to constantly sense the living, and as the entry puts it, "you can run, but you can't hide." So, this type of ghost will probably always know where you are.

Development Preview #3 | 27/05/22

Welcome back we've got some news for you!

As you've all been enjoying the development previews so much. We thought we'd drop you another one.

Any information and images are Work In Progress (WIP) and may change drastically before releasing

Dknighter's been smashing through the next minor update: v0.6.2. This update will include the two new ghosts, the new truck design, and layout, as well as a brand new voice recognition system!

The second of our new ghosts have finally decided to start revealing itself, but what does it mean?

With the new Main Menu UI, we're changing the way that players create lobbies.

  • Players will now create public and private lobbies from the same screen, and have a couple of new options!

  • You can decide the maximum player limit for your games, if you're only feeling like playing duos today, you can!

  • Lastly, the new lobby selection screen will have a new filter for what language players speak, this allows players to specify the primary language that will be used in those games! This is optional, and you can also set this option to "any" if you want to.

Sunny Meadows is slowly being populated with lots of brand new assets. This week cjdxn has been creating some horrible torture tools for use in the restricted area. Who knows what you might find down there...

Some patients were lucky enough to get their dental work done for free, even if not by choice.

If you're lucky enough to be chosen, you may be taken for a checkup, or something even "better".

A few of the "doctors" at Sunny Meadows have some interesting ways of trying to "cure the sick"

The custom difficulty update is well underway, and development is going well! Recently, Lavender set up the ability to toggle between your Role theme and your Prestige theme and hide your role badge completely, but only if you want, of course.

We saw lots of concerns about how this system may be abused, or ignored, and we want to calm any woes you may have!

Skinner's been hard at work getting the back-end of our new report system working so that we can view reports, bans, use filters, and more. This will allow us, and some of the Discord team, to view reports most optimally, and ban players accordingly. No one will be banned because a lobby of players decided to troll and report someone for being bad at the game.

Ban durations will be tiered depending on offenses, so you won't be banned permanently for something lower on the offense scale. However, repeat offenses will increase your ban duration, as well as ultimately end up in a perma-ban from multiplayer lobbies (including private games).

Finally, we'll be adding an in-game 'Recent Players' page to the journal, so that if you're kicked from a hacker's lobby, you can still report that player.

A look at the in-game UI for reporting players

That's it for Development Preview #3. We'll catch you with some more teasers soon!

Development Preview #2 | 16/05/22

Welcome back, we've got some news for you!

We'd like to give everyone a huge thank you for the support and feedback from Development Preview #1. This is something we will be continuing! Now, onto the new stuff:

Any information and images are Work In Progress (WIP) and may change drastically before releasing

First up, some Kinetic Games news!

As you may know, Phasmophobia was made solely by DK up until last July. Corey (cjdxn) and Ben (Lavender) then joined the team to help speed up development.

Well, the exciting news is we've just hired another artist, Jack (Skinner)! This will allow us to create maps alongside other content, as well as speed up anything particularly large in scope!

Make sure to give him a big welcome in the Discord!

The main menu's UI is finally getting a full overhaul!

The main goal of this is to make navigation easier, consistent, and more aesthetically pleasing.

So what's new? As you can see we have the new ID card located in the top right, including a glance at your funds and level, as well as how far from the next level you are!

That's right, weekly challenges will soon be a thing. We will be adding a few with Custom Difficulty and many more with the Progression Update. Completing these challenges will give you a boost in funds, and in the future additional things as well.

An example of a multiplayer lobby

On the new lobby screen, each player will get to cast their vote on which location to play. If the vote is tied between several maps, then the game will randomize between those that were voted on.

Additionally, we'll be adding a 'Random location' choice for those who like some extra excitement! We'll let you wait and see until Custom is released for what that looks like...

Players who aren't the host will see a "View" button instead of a "Change" button for the difficulty options. This means that other players within the lobby can check which custom difficulty settings are being used in the next game!

We loved all of your feedback for the upcoming ID cards and agree that the default card needed some love, so we've adjusted it slightly.

We also wanted to share a preview of Prestige One's badge and design.

And lastly, here's a sneak peek at what you can expect Prestige One's badge to look like on your player character's jacket!

Sunny Meadows is still in development and should be landing with the Custom Difficulty Update soon.

You may have noticed how dark it is inside, this is because many of the abandoned facility's lights have fallen from the ceiling or are broken, adding an extra layer of difficulty to some areas of the map.

One of the cleaner experimental treatment rooms, where patients were taken for some interesting treatments. Who knows what's hiding behind the camera...

You'll be happy to hear that a reporting system is finally being created for the game! You will be able to report players, give the reason for the report and post it to us directly through the game. We can then review and take action as necessary.

Hopefully, this will put a large dent into the hackers that some of you have experienced in several public lobbies! This system should also be added as part of the Custom Difficulty update coming soon...

That's it for Development Preview #2. We'll catch you with some more teasers soon!
