Phasmophobia PS5 Preview—Ghost Huntin’ on Home Consoles

I think it’s safe to say Phasmophobia is a bit of a miracle. I remember seeing it for the first time in a videogamedunkey video, thinking it was a bit silly. But then one October, I decided to pick it up on a whim and I was sold. Despite its Early Access status and somewhat janky gameplay, there was a genuine charm to it and every subsequent update made it a bit better until my poor little Microsoft Surface Book 2 couldn’t handle it anymore.

I think back to those halcyon days, desperately wondering when the game would be ported to consoles. It’s a bit irrelevant now since I’m rocking an awesome Alienware M16, and after 300 hours, I can say I’m somewhat of a Phasmophobia savant. But for those who don’t have rockin’ gaming laptops, the ghost-hunting phenomenon has finally made it to consoles and…it’s fine, I guess?

I do want to preface this review by saying I do unequivocally love Phasmophobia. Despites its flaws, I think it works really well as both a really fun cooperative... Read more

The Blood Moon Rises

Welcome back Ghost Hunters, we’ve got news for you.

This Halloween, the Blood Moon rises.

Phasmophobia’s Halloween event “Crimson Eye” kicks off for all Steam players this October 28, 2024. While we want to save some secrets for you to discover, let’s dive in to some details.

From the start of the event, Blood Moon weather will rain down constantly across multiple locations in Phasmophobia. During the Blood Moon, we’re tasking Ghost Hunters to work together to achieve a set of 3 Community Goals, each with increasingly larger ID card rewards in order to unlock the final rewards – A Trophy and Blood Moon weather as a permanent unlock for all players post event. This new weather type will have a chance to modify your future hunts, while providing better rewards and modified ghost behaviour when it takes place.

Ghost Hunters will have from October 28, 2024 to November 13, 2024 to take part in this event.

The Blood Moon isn’t the only thing coming to Phasmophobia this Halloween, we’ll be releasing an update on PC alongside the event itself too. This update will bring with it a ton of optimisations & bug fixes, addressing community issues & general game performance.

We’ll also be introducing a new permanent fixture; an Event Board that will help Ghost Hunters track their ongoing challenges, rewards in-game as well as their progress in the Apocalypse Challenges.

We’ll share more details on this update in our patch notes at release – stay tuned!

Finally, we’re excited to announce Phasmophobia’s early access console launch date! We’ll be releasing the game on PS5, PSVR2 and Xbox Series X/S on October 29, 2024 at 6PM UTC.

The console edition of the game will match the PC version and will receive future updates at the same time, ensuring constant access to cross play, meaning you’ll be able to team up with other Ghost Hunters no matter where you play. At launch, console players will be able to take part in the Blood Moon event alongside PC players, too.

We cannot wait to welcome new Ghost Hunters to Phasmophobia later this month, if you haven’t already, you’re able to Wishlist the game on PlayStation and Xbox.

We’ll see you in-game this Halloween...

Happy Huntin’!

Thanks,

The Kinetic Games Team

Phasmophobia Lands On Consoles Just In Time For Halloween!

The long-awaited console version of the critically acclaimed Phasmophobia is finally arriving on consoles on Oct 29th, 2024. The game will launch in Early Access for PlayStation 5 and PSVR2 as well as Xbox Series X|S. The game will be priced at $19.99 USD. To celebrate the launch of the console versions, Kinetic will also be rolling out a special Halloween Event that will include spooky set dressing for a few of the maps, and a new “Blood Moon” weather effect. During the Blood Moon, not only will the sky and rain be tinted red but Ghosts will be more empowered and dangerous. Not only that, as an added bonus the Halloween Event will feature the game’s first community goal-oriented task where players on all platforms can work together to permanently unlock the Blood Moon weather effect. Additionally, players will be able to earn a new badge and trophy by completing different community goals. “We are so happy to see Phasmophobia enter console early access,” said CEO and Lead Developer at Kinetic Games Daniel Knight. “The community has been asking for console versions and has waited a little while for it to happen. The development team at Kinetic Games have... Read more
