Phasmophobia spirit box commands guide

How do you talk to ghosts in Phasmophobia? By now you've probably realised that the ghosts in Phasmophobia are a chatty bunch, or more like, they enjoy your soft whimpers into the dark corners of whatever house they've chosen to haunt.

As Phasmopobia is an online multiplayer game, where you can play with up to three friends. There's a lot of lively debate about the best course of action, but as you ghost hunters deliberate how best to rid the area of the unwanted spirit, they are actually listening in on your every word. If that wasn't scary enough, they will also respond to some of the pretty obvious things you'll say as you stumble blindly around corridors grasping a torch and clutching your chosen ghost-slaying device.

Out of the devices you can choose is the spirit box, a nifty tool that can be used to discover more information about the ghost you're hunting. Bear in mind that Phasmophobia's voice recognition can be a little off, but in our opinion, it's well worth the investment as a more subdued way of teasing your ghost out of its hiding spot.

Phasmophobia sanity effects guide: what happens when you hit 0 sanity

Phasmophobia sanity provides a measure for how scared each individual in your ghost-hunting team is. You'll enter a hunt completely sane and unafraid of the myriad things that go bump in the night. However, the longer you spend in a haunted location the lower your sanity level will go, and depending on how you spend that time you'll find yourself either relatively unscathed or a hallucinating, fraught bundle of nerves - both in-game and in real life.

Sanity is also measured as a group average, and if your average drops below a certain point the ghost will start initiating haunts and even hunts to start picking you off one by one. Naturally, you'll lose sanity as you're exposed to paranormal activity, so it's important to accept this is going to happen as a part of your investigation, but learn how to deal with it when you are at low sanity.

So, how do you gain or lose sanity during your investigations, what happens when you hit 0 sanity, and what tips can we offer to deal with this mechanic? Join us as we disassemble everything we know about the Phasmophobia sanity effects.

Phasmophobia ouija board questions - how to use a ouija board

What are the questions you can ask the ouija board in Phasmophobia? Something we'd never thought we'd ask ourselves, but here we are in 2020, where online co-op games are the best way to link up with pals - and what better way than hunting ghosts in the dark, armed with a radio and some precarious equipment? And what better way to find a ghost than to use the paranormal equivalent of WhatsApp: the ouija board.

You might be slightly frustrated by Phasmophobia's voice recognition, it can be a little clunky to use, but preserve and you can utilise not only the spirit box in Phasmophobia, but also the ouija board. By asking your aloof apparition some questions in order to coax out some answers, you can tick off objectives to complete the mission of finding out which ghost you're hunting.

Of course, that's not all there is to it, you can't simply walk up to the ghost and say, "hey buddy, why don't you cool it with all the haunting, yeah?" That's not going to go down well. Firstly, it will anger it and it will hunt you and your sanity will slowly deplete until you're a snivelling wreck in the corner, or dead. So, here's how to use a ouija board and the questions you can ask.

Phasmophobia ghost types - all ghosts in the game

What are all the Phasmophobia ghost types? If you're trying to sniff out and vanquish all the ghosts so the hunters don't become the haunted - then you'll need to know exactly what you're up against. This online multiplayer game can be played with up to three of your friends, and like in the best co-op games, you'll need to work together to understand what kind of ghost you've got on your hands.

Of course, you can do this by collecting evidence using the Phasmophobia spirit box to talk to the undead, as well as different ghost-hunting equipment such as cameras, a ouija board, and torches. Then there's the more cautious approach, throwing down a crucifix in Phasmophobia to ward off a ghost, for example. You'll need to piece together all your findings in the investigation and slowly build up an idea of who and what your ghost is.

There are 12 different ghost types in Phasmophobia and all of them behave differently, with their own strengths and weaknesses. Here are all of the ghosts you'll encounter and what to look out for in their behaviour.

Phasmophobia hit Steam's top five most-played games this weekend

Phasmophobia, the co-op horror game made by a single developer, has broken into the top five most-played games on Steam this weekend. According to GitHyp, the ghastly horror game peaked at 86,491 concurrent players over the weekend.

As with most horror games these days, the haunted house vibes and creepy aesthetic drew initial comparisons to cult demo PT. However, the game involves some incredibly unique mechanics that redefine the co-operative experience. Players can only hear each other if they are within earshot - and yes, that means doors and walls muffle the sound of your comms. This becomes increasingly scary when unnatural beings take out the walkie-talkies you use for long-distance communication, and suddenly you feel very isolated and alone.

Much like other recent cult hits Among Us and Fall Guys, the game has also been incredibly successful on Twitch, peaking at just under a quarter of a million viewers on its first weekend. It's safe to say that streamers love to be scared, and people just love to watch someone else jump out of their skin at regular intervals. Phasmophobia ticks both of those boxes, and has soared in popularity because of it.
