Phasmophobia dev knows that you want more small maps, and Nell's Diner certainly delivers

Despite its incredible popularity and being five years into its life-cycle, ghost-hunting horror game Phasmophobia remains in early access, with a full 1.0 roadmap planned for 2026 and beyond. As such, new content is constantly being added, and huge overhaul make everything feel brand-new all over again. I recently got back into Phasmophobia, and it's these changes that have made it feel so fresh.

I didn’t expect to get as invested in Phasmophobia as I have in recent years. When the game first launched, it seemed like a lighthearted multiplayer title best suited to streamers or players who didn’t take horror too seriously. But the more I played, the more I realized I was wrong. The team at Kinetic has stayed dedicated to building a genuine horror experience—whether playing alone or with friends.





Hot off the heels of the addition of the Point Hope Lighthouse map and the drastically redesigned Bleasdale and Grafton Farmhouses comes the highly anticipated Nell’s Diner—a simple yet deeply atmospheric new map that adds a lot of dynamism without completely overwhelming players.









Something I really liked about Phasmophobia’s Point Hope map was how it experimented with verticality, and seeing more maps that played on somewhat traditional styles interested me more than just making haunted houses. I returned to Phasmophobia while everyone else was playing Arc Raiders or BF6, and the horror hit has never been better

I write about videogames for a living, and even I can't find the time to play half of what I'd like to, doubly so when it comes to the world of live-service. I often have to leave the games I love by the wayside, and despite enjoying the time I spent with Phasmophobia in late 2020, the following five years came and went without me launching the terrifying, ghost-hunting horror game even once.


I'm a huge horror fan. From linear single-player games like Silent Hill and Crow Country to asynchronous multiplayer games like Dead by Daylight and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, you can be sure I've at least tried it, even if I haven't stuck it out. Naturally, when Phasmophobia was all over Twitch back in 2020, I had to pick it up.

Nell's Diner Release Date
