Stalker Update (v0.164)

  • A brand new Stalker mutant has been added. Every so often this creature will chase you through the game world from Level 5 on-wards and you are granted EXP for escaping alive
  • Uniques that drop will now be much closer to the area level. IE a level 30 area cannot drop a unique lower than level 25. Elites, Rares and Superiors are unaffected by this change however
  • Hunger/thirst rates were slowed
  • Torch light no longer bounces around when moving
  • Made inventory window bigger
  • Default lighting was further adjusted to make it easier to see what you and your character are doing
  • A whole bunch of visual bugs were fixed (flickers, gaps in walls etc)
  • Fixed a whole bunch of bugs relating to multiplayer sync
  • Fixed a bug that caused the Roid Hulk carry on walking with missing legs
  • Fixed a bug that caused your character to look down slightly most of the time
  • Added some extra logic to try and prevent "double click" bugs in the UI


NOTE: You will need to quit the game client and install the update on Steam before theses changes take effect. If the game fails to update, logging out of Steam and back in again usually does the trick.

I know this is not the update many of you were expecting based on my previous announcement. I did spend a lot of time working on Armour and Backpacks, but unfortunately I was not able to fit all the various combinations of these together correctly on the human avatars. I've had to rethink how we handle this and ask our artist for changes. Unfortunately this means that Armour/Backpacks cannot be released until this is done.

Weekend Event

Everyone gets +100% Health Restoration this weekend :)

July 4th Weekend Event

We're giving all players a massive +100% EXP for the entire July 4th weekend!

Server-Side Update

  • High level (25+), normal loot spots now give better quality items
  • Starting from tomorrow, the outdoor world will only regenerate every 7 days (This was originally going to be monthly, but after hearing feedback from players I decided to see how things work with a weekly reset first)
  • More Hospitals and Police Departments should spawn on the map from tomorrow
  • Food and drink items have been tweaked, and hunger thirst speed rebalanced to be more realistic
  • Spitter boss has had her projectile shot patterns widened to make her slightly more dangerous
  • Some more Unique items have been tweaked to make them more useful
  • Outpost attack bonuses now give +Fuel Quantity and +Unique Loot
  • Being drunk now gives some slight benefits, and alcohol items now give more hydration
  • Some meds have been improved slightly
  • All enemies have been tweaked so they push you around less
  • Non-English languages have been updated

Next Updates

I'm sorry there hasn't been an update this week. Whilst I've spent the majority of my time on DF2, I did have to lend a hand in getting an update ready for DF1, which slowed my progress down somewhat. However next week I'll be back on the case.

Here is a list of what I'm planning to be done in the next 3 weeks:
  • Weapon attachments that increase secondary stats such as accuracy, ammo capacity, noise reduction etc
  • Body armour
  • Backpacks that increase inventory capacity
  • A slight rework of private trading so that it's not quite so easy to pass items between alts. This is one of the reasons why backpacks are coming in next (to help make up for the loss of space while looting that alts could previously provide).
  • Improved normal loot quality for higher tier areas
  • More police stations and hospitals on the map
  • An outdoor game world that only regenerates once per month, so that you can plan your looting trips more effectively.
  • A large number of new cosmetic head gear items
  • Improvements to the cosmetics system so that multiple pieces of head gear can be worn together (glasses with hat, mask with hat etc)
