Great news! Development on the Multiplayer Update has been going very well! As some of you may know, we did a secret alpha stream last weekend. It was a lot of fun!

We had a fun time showing you how Multiplayer plays and answering some questions about what else is coming. Oh! And we also had a Steam key giveaway for viewers of the stream!

Multiplayer FAQ
[h3]When is the Multiplayer Update coming out? Why is it taking so long?[/h3]
The closed beta will be available later this year, but the full Multiplayer Update will officially come out sometime in early 2021. We worked very hard to get it out this year but unfortunately, we don't think it will be quite ready yet. We could have rushed production to get it out quicker for a cash-grab, but instead, we want to make sure it's mostly bug-free, 100% fun, and has some new exciting content to go along with it!
[h3]Will Multiplayer be available for consoles? What about crossplay?[/h3]
For now, we are focusing our efforts on getting Multiplayer to work well on Steam first. In the future, we will consider also making the Multiplayer update available for consoles/other platforms, depending on player demand/hype. Unfortunately, though, crossplay between platforms is highly unlikely!
[h3]When is the Closed Beta starting? Who will get to playtest?[/h3]
The Closed Beta will start very soon in 2020. We want to make sure the game is fun for the players helping us playtest and find bugs!
Any player at level 10 or higher on our Discord server or
any current or ex-Patreon supporter at Gold tier or higher will be able to join the closed beta.
[h3]How many players can play at once?[/h3]
Up to 4 players!
[h3]Can multiple people play via couch-coop on the same computer?[/h3]
Not for now, but this is something we can consider doing if you guys want us to. The main challenge will be getting the camera to work right and not be annoying. Let us know if you are interested in this and have ideas on how to make it work right!
[h3]Will difficulty scale with more players?[/h3]
This is something we are discussing internally. I think just reducing XP gained based on number of players should be fine, but I have heard that some players also want fewer item drops and/or tougher enemies. What's your opinion on this? We have time to experiment with several options so let us know what you think!
[h3]What elements are shared between players and which ones are individual?[/h3]
All items, skills, and coins are individual to each player. Feats and Cosmetic Items however will probably be global for all players as they get unlocked ingame.
[h3]Will I need to create a new savefile to play with my friends? How can they join?[/h3]
Friends will be able to join any savefile in any game mode you have at any point in time! They will be able to just drop in! Very quick and easy, and you can also set your worlds to not allow any friends to join if you would rather just play by yourself!
[h3]What if I have no friends, though?[/h3]
Same lol. Let's just play together in the Forager community. Maybe we can stream it too? Idk we have been playing Among Us recently and it's been fun!
[h3]Will there be new content besides just multiplayer functionality?[/h3]
Yes! We have some new social features coming (mail, emotes, etc), new cosmetic items and Feats and also at least 1 BIG content update! Check the details below to know more...

Right now we have 3 really cool and BIG ideas and we are having a little trouble deciding what to add to the game. If we can only add one of the following, which one should we add?

[h3]The Necropolis[/h3]
A brand new challenging dungeon specifically designed for Multiplayer. You will have to join your friends to conquer this epic giant dungeon filled with new puzzles, enemies, and rewards. You will also need to work together to defeat a powerful new boss!
[h3]HopFrog's Minigame Party[/h3]
Our jester HopFrog has some new minigames in the works. And these will be totally fair and fun, unlike that trivia one... Ahem... Anyway! This content update will allow players to join HopFrog into a series of brand new multiplayer minigames and earn exclusive rewards! If you like Mario Party and Fall Guys, you will love this!
[h3]The Grand Colosseum[/h3]
If you are only interested in fighting new things, the Grand Colosseum is the place for you! This new giant structure will allow players to battle waves of new enemies, duel against powerful bosses, and even fight other players in a new PvP system! Only the most powerful warrior will earn the glory and rewards of the colosseum!
