Battle Splash - Road to 2.0
Before we begin
HI everyone, Hung Mai here,
It's been a very, very long time since the last update, which probably makes somebody wondering how the game's going these days. Well, it's still being developed atm, just got slowed down a lot since the pandemic as well as some of my personal problems... And for that, I still owe you guys an apology...
This update also marks the beginning of the end of Battle Splash 2.0 development. I've realized that the game's been taken longer than what I expected, which really taking a toll on my creative process as well as on your patient as well. To be clear, this is an EXTREMELY ENJOYABLE journey for me, as I learned a lot about how to make a PROPER, HIGH QUALITY game as well as what it takes in order to archive that, so regardless of the result, I'm extremely happy that the game has finally comes to the end. It's a dream comes true for me, even though it's not a fully realized dream.
That said, this update is NOT THE END of Battle Splash 2.0 development, at least for a while, and it's given that I will continue to support the game post-release, so bugs will still get squashed, some tweaks will still get applied at some point.
Alright, now that's out of the way, let's dive in what does this update provide:
A brand new UI

The UI has been updated, so that it'll be more clear, more intuitive, and better visual... I'll let the screenshot speaks for itself:

Changed in Game Mode
Game Mode Categories:
Game Modes will now be divided into 3 Categories:
- All Stars: if you're looking for pure fun experience, this is the Category for you. This will have no class restrictions as well as bullet/ammo - fun in its purest form.
- Competitive: if you're looking for more challenge, comes to this battle arena. Rule will be very stricts on you, requires you to use all of your skills to become the champion.
- Survival: if you're looking for a solo-singleplayer/coop experience. Battle through hordes of enemy with various rules/enemies to challenge yourself.
Introducing new Mechanic: Shop/In-game Inventory
Starting with this update, some game mode (especially Competitive ones) will have shop. You must buy your weapon there and manage your own wallet in order to purchase your favorite weapon.
To access the shop, use the key (i) on keyboard
New Feature: Key Binding (finally)

From now on, you can finally change your keybinding to fit your playstyle. I did realize that this is a much needed feature, and I myself would like to include that from the start, yet the engine did not feature any feasible option to change keybinding at the time (hence the Unity start-up dialog). That said, that dialog will let you access to the safe-mode graphics option (for low specs computer), so it will be there for a longer while.
New Feature: (Almost) Full Controller Support
Options->Gameplay Settings

If you enjoy playing shooter on controller, fears not! Battle Splash 2.0 is now fully controller support for gameplay and partially with UI. Not only that, if you're lucky enough to own a PS4/DS5 controller, you'll be able to perform Gyro Aiming, which will drastically improve how you play the game.
Auto Analog Calibration - Anti Analog Drifting:
You have an ancient Controller? You used it too much and now it drift? You worry that you can't enjoy game with it anymore? Worry not! Since Battle Splash 2.0 will automatically adjust to your analogs reading, so that it will clamp the range for their input signal, thus reduces control drift a lot. Just plug your controller in, rotate your analogs a few times, and you're good to go (for now, you'll have to do this every time you fire up/connecting your controller).
Massive Performance Upgrade:
With the help of multithreading and lots, lots of optimizations, Battle Splash 2.0's performance has been doubled since the last time (literally goes from 40FPS to 80FPS with the recommended system). Enjoy high speed water warfare like it was meant to be, without much shuttering in the way!
Changed
Language support on hold
Since the new UI has been reworked, lots of translations got outdated and cannot be included inside the game. However, given that most of previous translations' quality isn't what I expected, those translations will be discarded until I find better translations. Since translation/localization is based on trust, this will be along process, and there might not be as much languages as it was before, so I'd like to apologize to everyone in advanced.
However, custom/user translations will still be available (in the near future). Keep in mind that I hold no responsibility for those translations, and they are to be maintained by their owners.
There are a few more updates I'd like to reveal to everyone, yet the time has not comes, so I'll see you again in the near future.
Hope you the best,
Battle Splash 2.0 Creator,
Hung Mai
