Devlog #17: Building Martian Base

Dear Martians!
Building and upgrading the first base plays an important role in colonizing Mars, so today’s post is focused on this topic.

Building constructions begins with “the design mode”. This stage is unlimited and won’t require using resources. First you have to place the “ghosts” of buildings anywhere you want and see if you’re satisfied with the results. You can freely change the ghost placement or destroy them by using a grinder, without losing resources.

You can place the building sections side by side to connect them or place it independently without any connection. If the modules are joined together, the pressure inside a buildings is compensated. When the constructions are set independently, you have to build two airlocks. Remember that designing, as well as building can be done on a flat terrain.

When you already designed the constructions, you can start to build them with a welder tool. This process requires resources. Constructions can be built from modules and components which are printed by using a 3D printer. If you don’t have enough materials, you won’t be able to produce required components. You can destroy buildings using a grinder tool, but it is connected with a partial loss of materials.

As you progress through the game you will be able to build and upgrade another base - your dreamed martian base! In that case you'll need lots of resources to produce required components. Future devlog will give you the details of the 3D printer, which is an essential device in construction process.
