New patch available in Experimental

Hello Seedlings,

We have a big patch for you today in the Experimental Branch: bug fixes, community-requested improvements, and some new bits and pieces. Check out the changelog at the bottom of this post for the full details.

As a general update for you, we've been doing a lot of behind-the-scenes work on getting the game future-proof for translations as well as some other new developments, news of which we are working on giving you this autumn. It has been a busy time for the five of us as we iron out issues and revisit code that was first written years ago! Of particular note is the dusting off, rebuilding, and polishing of how we handle text in the game. With over 310,000 words, there is a lot to handle, and this has made edits and especially adding new languages harder than it might have been had we known how many words we'd end up having when we started! Phew! Pause for breath..

We have two new languages in this Experimental - French and Korean. We started with French as it was the most familiar language. Korean we chose for the use of glyphs in the game. We are also conscious that there are community-created language mods out there, which may be broken by the new way we handle text, one of the most popular of which is Korean, so we thought we'd better get our beta out as soon as possible. Our experimental translations feature text crafted through a collaborative effort involving professional translators, community contributors, and advanced AI technology. With such a word count, we strive for accuracy and clarity, though some nuances may vary. How to get the Experimental Build installed:

In your Steam library, right-click and access properties for Kynseed.



Under the Betas tab, select Experimental from the dropdown.



This should now update and replace the build with this version. You can return to the normal build by choosing None for the Beta Participation options.


Things to note:

Installing this build will overwrite your current version of Kynseed. Existing saves stay in the Saves folder, whilst Experimental saves go into a new folder.

If you want to return to the previous build, switch back to the default branch on Steam, where your previous saves will be intact. You won't be able to load your Experimental saves into the default branch.

❌ Fix for competition prizes not being given via mail (only works for subsequent competitions)
❌ Fixed duplicates proverbs being given if they were in unread letters
❌ Meal delivery popup now won't show if the task is completed
❌ Prevented flickering on shelves in the farm house
❌ Pets should sleep on indoor rest spots
❌ Shop names have a shorter character limit to fit the UI
❌ Spring pack lantern can no longer be placed indoors
❌ F&F structures can no longer be placed indoors
❌ Shelters show in the right locations on the map
❌ Removed 3 duplicate books in the levels
❌ Fixed an issue with apothecary cure ratings showing in the ledger when npcs with certain talents served them
❌ Fixed issue where doubled up dates could lead to getting stuck in an endless loop
❌ Fixed issues in some situations where extra apothecary rep/money could be gained from a worker while you were in the level
❌ Fixed more shoppers spawning for the hour if you look in the ledger while you have shop workers
