Update 0.33.6

New bullet damage model
This update changes how much damage bullets from firearms deal and how armor works.
First of all there are a lot more calibers than before and each weapon should use the right one.
Damage is independent from the weapon now and only depends on the fired caliber and bullet type.
There is a new modification slot for each weapon, that lets you choose the bullet type. For most calibers, there are 4 bullet types:
Full metal jacket
Hollow-point -> ~ +20% damage, -20% armor penetration
Armor-piercing -> ~ -20% damage, +20% armor penetration
Incendiary -> ~ +15% damage, +15% armor penetration, 4% fire chance

Armor model
There are 4 armor classes now: Level 1 - Level 4 with protection values 20, 40, 60, 80.
A bullet will penetrate the armor if it has enough penetration power (> protection value).
Bullets with at least 10 more penetration power than the protection value of the ammo, will deal the full amount of damage to the unit
Bullets with penetration power that is close to the armor protection value will slowly start to deal a little more damage
Bullets will very low penetration power (< protection value - 10) will only deal 10% of their damage

This will result in small calibers from pistols will almost do no damage through level 3+ armor
However, armor has a durability value now, which will get lowered with every hit. Again, bullets with high penetration will damage the armor more that low penetration bullets.
Once the durability reaches zero, the armor will not protect the unit anymore.

The bullet and armor changes will need some more adjustments in the next updates, but I think it's a much better system because the damage on the weapons is easier to balance, less random and the armor does actually do something. Also, there will be more armor items available in the next updates, so feel free to share your suggestions about armor.

Dyeable armor
From now on, you can change the colors of Helmets, Chest armor, Arm + Leg armor like the colors of clothing items.

Content
  • Added shotgun choke attachment, which reduces the spray by 50%
  • Added shotgun duckbill choke attachment, which creates a more horizontal spray
  • Added small ammunation packs for each caliber


Small features & improvements
  • Updated the bullet shell models
  • Improved clothing item rendering performance by up to 50% depending on the PC specs
  • Increased the minimum attack range settings for custom units with siege weapons from 100 to 300


Bug fixes
  • Fixed a bug that caused RPG projectiles to blow up while shooting
  • Fixed gatling guns and static mgs
  • Fixed that units that are placed in a formation hold their weapons like pistols
  • Fixed the future RPG explosion
  • Fixed that some weapons did not shoot while aiming
  • Fixed some helicopter MGs
  • Fixed the apocalypse clothing models


Next update
The next update will include the missing WMC reward items, AI improvements/fixes for siege weapons and helicopters and the in-game Arsenal will be updated to show more information about armor and bullet types.

Update 0.33.5

Features & Improvements
  • Added modern/wild west/musket bayonet unit variants
  • Units will no longer spawn at the KOTH flag
  • Large groups of AIs will now move closer to each other instead of moving backwards to avoid each other
  • Updated the Steam API to improve the stability of the steam functionality

Update 0.33.3

AI
  • AIs will now shoot while rotating towards moving targets
  • Added am elite skill mode for ranged AIs
    • This causes units to shoot extremely accurate at long distances
  • Pistol and rifle units will now punch enemies at close range or use bayonets
  • AIs will generate straighter paths towards their targets


Weapon rework
  • Modern/WWI/WWII/Future/Apocalypse weapons got reworked
    • Some models got recreated and some updated
    • All weapons got resized based on their real size
    • All weapons have iron sights now
  • Some weapons got replaced to create more unique weapons:
    • S36 got replaced with Val
    • S4 got replaced with S12
    • S433 got replaced with SRSS
  • Scopes are centered now
  • Weapon scopes/sights are much more accurate now
  • Attachments
    • Updated laser and flashlight model
    • Added blue laser device
    • Added PSO scope (for Val, S47 and SRSS)
    • Added OKP sight (for Val, S47 and SRSS)
  • Added a bayonet attachment slot for some WWI/WWII weapons


Other
  • Added WWI/WWII units with bayonets
  • The editor will now delete objects in an async process to prevent crashes on low end hardware
  • Plugged in controllers and wheels will no longer manipulate the input
  • Santa cloth colors are now adjustable


Next update
The next update will be released in about 3 weeks (+- 1 week). There will be changes to bullet damage and armor, as well as AI fixes and changes.
