What's Next from Corrosive Studios? "Chaos Chain"

Hey everyone, Corrosion here.

So, several people have been asking me recently about what I've been working on lately.

I didn't want to give any info out too early, but I think now is a great time for me to tell you all a bit about my new project.

Let me start by saying that it's very early in development, so nothing you see is finalized.
Chaos Chain
A dark cyberpunk roleplaying game by Corrosive Studios

-This is a project that I have been working on for a few months and it's finally starting to actually take form. The game is heavily inspired by a variety of movies and games including The Matrix, Johnny Mnemonic, Shadowrun, The Terminator, Total Recall, Repo Men, Cyberpunk 2021 (RPG), and a whole lot more. Of course, I'm only trying to get inspiration for the genre, so Chaos Chain will have a lot of its own content and lore. I'm really passionate about bringing this all to life, so I hope some of you like it so far.
Background:
"Half a century into the future, mankind's world is riven and in a state of great social, political, and economic strain... After the end of the horrific pandemic that haunted the early twenties, big pharma became stronger than ever seen before. Medical research thrived and allowed for a multitude of tech advancements, but healthcare prices skyrocketed, causing mass inflation and shifting the world's economy... As a result, cryptocurrencies grew in popularity and eventually gained enough momentum to replace other monetary systems across the globe... Greed, hatred, envy, and panic then fueled the fires of war time after time, leaving the world scarred and broken. The U.N. has fallen and the war on terror has failed. Civilization is slowly collapsing in on itself... Now, most people cannot afford their basic needs. Society is fragmented and has dissolved back into a rigid caste division. Crime is at an all-time high and poverty is the new norm. Each day that passes, exploitation of the Earth's resources continues and pollution intensifies, making life even more unbearable... Humanity is in the darkest place of its entire existence... A dark place where you exist."

It's still very early off, and it will be a bit before anything is playable, but it's getting there.

-For the game's mechanics, I have read through a lot of reviews and feedback that I've gained over the years. I tried to create a good mix of both complexity and simplicity to make the game straight forward, but also unique, also while being enjoyable. There is no durability, no overly complicated armor systems, damage is straight forward, weapons and classifications for them are easy to understand, and so on.

-I want to create a game with a HEAVY EMPHASIS ON ACTUAL ROLEPLAYING. In the past, I did this with Lawless Lands, but I want it to have even more depth. Branching dialogues, non-linear sequences, player-influenced-events based on choices and character builds, and many other ideas. I want the player's place in the game to have a direct tie in to what they do. For better or for worse. I also want to highlight that the game will not be combat focused. It will still feature combat though. Basically, I just really want the game to be much more dynamic and personalized based on how the player interacts with the game world.

-Combat as it is right now, is quick, painful, and dirty. Even if you have a clear advantage, you're still likely to come out with some scratches on you. Of course, armor will help - and much more effectively than my previous games at that. Weapon capabilities are also more diversified and streamlined, making them more useful depending on the situation. I've already made changes (a lot) to the combat system to make it more enjoyable and dangerous. For you and the enemies. I've also decided to make custom animations for EVERY WEAPON so it may take longer, but I think it'll make it a lot better.

-The game is not always meant to be perfectly "fair", but that counts for everyone. What I mean is, if you can do something, your enemy likely can to and vice versa, but sometimes you may find yourself in a serious bind and you'll need to play your cards carefully to get yourself out.

-I'm pretty much building it from the ground up from scratch, creating a lot of custom assets (and a friend is helping me with character design stuff) so it will take time, but it will also be much more original. For music (soundtracks), I have a really awesome selection that fits my vision perfectly. I'm really excited to see it all put together.

-For character creation/design, I can say that there is a TON OF DEPTH. Skills, attributes, traits, flaws (something new that I wanted to do), occupation, etc. Characters are not all-powerful. They have limits and drawbacks. Psychological trauma and defects as well as physical with varying effects. Backgrounds will give key bonuses in various areas of influence that can help or hinder you in situations depending on what you have available. There are also going to be more out of combat skills so the game has more variety.

There is a lot more I want to talk about and show off, but this is already turning into a novel, so I will wrap it up for now.

If you want to discuss the game, give ideas, or just have the link to the hub, you can find a link to the Chaos Chain Steam Community Hub here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1536730

I'll have more information soon.

Thanks for reading!
