Your First Steps in Albion Online

If you’re new to Albion Online, you might be wondering how best to get started after the tutorial. Albion is a huge, sandbox universe, with practically endless possibilities. But to set you on solid ground before you forge your own unique path, here are some helpful pointers to get you off to a smooth start.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Expeditions and Dungeons
Albion Online doesn’t offer set quest lines - rather, you decide what path you will take from the beginning. With that in mind, though, a good early objective is to increase your Fame (Albion’s equivalent of experience points), which will let you unlock more gear and abilities.

Combat Fame can be gained by killing mobs, and an Expedition is a great way to do this early on. Just visit the Expedition Master near the center of any Starter Town or City - marked by a large glowing blue portal to begin. Expeditions offer plenty of Combat Fame, plus an additional reward for the first Expedition you complete each day.

For a greater challenge, find a Solo Dungeon in the open world. A tier 3 dungeon should be easy to complete, and offer more Silver and loot than an expedition.
Playing the Market
After a few expeditions or dungeons, you’ll be able to unlock tier 3 or 4 weapons and armor, along with enough Silver to buy some new gear. You’ll also be able to equip a Riding Horse or Transport Ox, which are big improvements over your humble Mule.

This is also a good time to begin gathering resources. Buy a bag and some tier 2 gathering tools from the market, and journey out into the open world. Each of Albion’s five biomes contains three types of natural resource:
 • Steppe: hide, fiber, ore
 • Forest: wood, hide, stone
 • Swamp: fiber, wood, hide
 • Mountain: ore, stone, fiber
 • Highlands: wood, stone, ore

The resources you gather can be used to craft weapons and armor, but at this stage it probably makes more sense to sell them at the Marketplace and buy any items you desire.
PvP
It’s not just mobs that you can fight in Albion Online - you can also go into combat against other players. PvP rules in Albion Online vary depending on the zone you are in. In blue zones, you cannot be killed or looted. In yellow zones, you can be attacked by other players, but not killed or looted - you only get knocked down. In red or black zones, you can be killed and lose the items you’re carrying, or kill your enemies and take their loot. Keep in mind that you will never lose your hard-earned Silver or Gold if killed or knocked down by players or monsters.

If you want to start your PvP journey in relative safety, try some Arena battles, where you don’t have to worry about losing your items. You can also join a City Faction to fight against rival factions in the open world. Or try out a Hellgate, with varying degrees of danger.

Once you get the hang of it, PvP in Albion Online can be truly thrilling. Just remember the golden rule: never go into battle with more gear than you can afford to lose!
Continuing Your Journey
Now that you know the basics, a huge universe is open to you in Albion. Experiment with an almost endless range of possible builds for your character. Join a guild, and take part in fierce battles for territories or help forge an economic empire. Buy your own island to farm animals and crops which you can take to market. Venture deeper into the open world, in search of more valuable resources, mobs, and dungeons. Explore Albion’s more mysterious and magical realms like the Mists and the Roads of Avalon. Or just go fishing.

In Albion Online, greater risk brings greater rewards - so don’t be afraid to take the next step into the unknown. Remember, if it doesn’t work out you can just dust yourself off and go again, or try a different path. Your journey is in your hands. So good luck out there, adventurer, maybe we’ll run into each other some time!

The “Foundations” Update is Live!

The Foundations are ready for a new era in warfare! With mighty Fortifications, rousing Siege Banners, overflowing Territory Activity Chests, and a lot more, Albion’s latest update lays the groundwork for fierce battles all across its lands.

In anticipation of what’s about to unfold, we’ve produced a brand-new trailer for the occasion. Check it out here:
Man the Barricades
This update introduces Fortifications to territory warfare. Guilds can upgrade the walls, gates, and guards protecting their territories, providing progressively more staunch barriers to would-be attackers. Siege Banners, meanwhile, change the dimensions of territory battles, forcing attackers and defenders alike to rethink their tactics - attackers must carry a banner to the territory tower to be victorious, but defenders have the opportunity to end an attack early by controlling the banner themselves, until it’s destroyed.

For more on these exciting new features, check out this Dev Talk.
New Incentives
Territory Activity Chests accumulate loot based on activity levels in surrounding regions. This encourages guilds to be active around their holdings, and even to ensure outsiders operate in safety there. But with greater riches comes an incentive for rivals, who can loot the chests and make off with the spoils themselves.

Foundations also introduces the next three Crystal Weapons in the game: the Arctic Staff, Phantom Twinblade, and Crystal Reaper. With unique, powerful spells, these weapons offer a prestigious reward for players who are successful in the Conqueror’s Challenge.
Further Features
A much-anticipated Spectator Mode gives creators and streamers the ability to broadcast their own Custom Matches, allowing them to organize their own, exciting tournaments however they want to. Hammers have been refreshed with new spells, ready to strike down opponents on Albion’s battlefields. And a host of further features have been added across the game, such as solo Tracking improvements, new territory layouts, and a number of combat balance changes.

Foundations is live now, so log in and check out these new features! For a full rundown of the changes in this update, read the patchnotes, and see the official update page for more info:

Guild Season Wrapup: 22 Americas / 4 Asia

The first Guild Season of 2024 has reached its conclusion, and it’s time to congratulate the winners! So hats off to IFures, who claimed their first title on Albion Americas, and PLAC, who successfully defended their crown on Albion Asia. Read on for a rundown of how the seasons played out…
Albion Americas: IFures Rise to the Top
Season 22 began with a flurry of activity, as two major forces announced they'd be gunning for top spot. Both IFures & Superiore charged into the season battling it out over castles, cores, vortexes, and anything else that would give Season Points. It soon became clear that this clash of the titans wouldn't just involve these two guilds, though, and it wasn't long until coalitions were formed on both sides.

But within the first week Superiore suffered a devastating defeat in their homeland, Sunfang Cliffs, with IFures able to break through their lines and raid the territory, claiming the Raw Energy and causing a massive rift within Superiore. Within twenty-four hours this led to the guild’s collapse, seemingly opening the way for IFures to steamroll their way through the rest of the season.

It wasn't all plain sailing from here though, as another contender for the top prize, FAX, stepped up and threw their gauntlet into the ring. This sparked conflicts across multiple timers, but IFures were up for the fight and, in the final month of the season, managed to breach FAX’s homelands and raid their energy. This didn't come without its costs, though, as the FAX coalition was able to evict Contingent from their home of Darkbough Snag in the process.

On the final Invasion Day, IFures managed to secure the title, ending their season with just over 1 million points, with FAX coming in second with 869,000 points, and B l a c k-L i s t third with 581,000 points.
Albion Asia: PLAC Hold their Title
Season 4 got off to a quieter start than previous seasons on Albion Asia, due to the hangover from the season-long war of Season 3. With guilds settling down and making pacts, PLAC was set for a straightforward victory.

It wasn't long until things spiced up, though, and with the SQUAD alliance still out for blood against the LIGHT alliance, pockets of action flared up. Raids gradually gathered pace, along with battles for castles and vortexes, and it wasn't long until a full-scale war broke out again. This lasted until the end of the season, with both sides putting up some incredible battleboards.

But, midway through the season, it wasn't SQUAD that LIGHT were looking to blind, but rather Vermin and their comfortable hold on second place. RADIANT looked to loosen their grip and, after a week of raids, Vermin soon conceded and RADIANT were on the way to second spot.

The final Invasion Day was another bloody one, as RADIANT looked to secure their homeland of Sunfang Cliffs, a territory holding 60,000 Season Points. With everyone’s gaze fixed here, RADIANT claimed the territory after a thirty-minute battle, and with that secured second place for the season.

In the final reckoning, PLAC took first place with a million points, followed by RADIANT in 2nd with 635,000 points and Vermin in third with 585,000 points.
