3.1.4 - Lvell Expansion (Part 1)

The first part of Lvell's expansion is here! It's taking quite a bit of time to fill up with goodies, but some of the main parts are already available for the low levels. The focus of 3.1.5 will be expanding the functionality of Lvell/City especially the forest event, the hunter lodge, and activating the Dojo and Inn.

I'm not going to lie, the Final Fantasy VII REMAKE played a huge part in the development slowdown this week.

3.1.4 [Build #64, Release Date: April 19, 2020] & 1.0.1 [Demo Build #2] Notes:
- All these changes directly affect the Demo build but are also available at all points in the game.
- This build will be the new safezone moving forward due to the addition of zones. Previous safezone 3.1.1.1 will be saved just in case, but no longer be accessible unless an emergency arises.
New:
- A new section of Lvell is available.
-- It is not possible to save inside any of the Lvell/City subzones. As they become more finalized, the save restriction will be lifted.
- Parts of the Replica Set are now available from various vendors in Lvell/City.
- The Phoenix Ash and the other structures are open on an introductory basis. More will be added as time goes on.
- The first quest of the Phoenix Ash takes Ruby to a new zone! This quest is meant for level 5 or below players but can be completed once Miles and Riley have joined as well. To get the most out of the event, opt not to use M&R in the battle.
Fixes:
- Fixed an issue with the Sticky Glove chest in Den An’ura.
- Fixed an issue with Bats, Slimes, & Rats on the world map dropping Deprecated Items.
- World map Rats now give 4 EXP and 1G per kill, up from 0/0.
- Rift An’ura enemies now properly drop restorative items at the same rates as before.
Changes:
- Changed text in Info screen from “Cross of Auria – The Awakening” to “Cross of Auria – Episode 1”. The ‘final’ version of the name before moving to episode 2 has yet to be decided.
- Removed the “Charm” equipment slot.
- Added Scarf, Earring, Scabbard, and Hilt equipment types to fit inside the Accessory equipment slot for Ruby, Alex, Miles, and Riley respectively.
- Enabled the Formation menu command, which will allow players to re-arrange the party and set who is active for battle if the party contains more than 4 characters.
Other:
- A new trailer and several new zone screenshots were added to the Cross of Auria Steam Store page on April 9th. This trailer is also available on CoA’s YouTube.
- On April 12th, a demo playable up until just after the Hive Mind with Jack was submitted for review. As of this post, the demo should be live, though I am having trouble locating a download button for it. More on that later.

Edit: 12:12AM APR 20 - Emergency fix for Frostfire Set.
3.1.4.1 [Build #65, Release Date: April 20, 2020] New:
- Data for the new 75 point Phoenix Feather Set has been added (5% ATK, 38% DEF, 5% MAT, 37% MDF, 15% MHP). A vendor will be made available in an update soon.
Fixes:
- The Frostfire set’s details have been fixed.
- The Frostfire set now provides resistances to Fire and Ice as originally intended.

Edit: 10:36AM APR 20 - Emergency fix for Orc Spawns (which may prevent progress in Hell's Gate)
3.1.4.2 [Build #66, Release Date: April 20, 2020] Fixes:
- Alex can no longer gain the Arcane Missile skill from the Delivery Boy until level 6 for players who haven’t updated since Arcane Missile was added.
- Added a battleback for the Hell’s Gate/Entrance zone.
- Changed world spawn Orcs to only spawn after UsingWorldMap has been triggered (after Inn scene).
-- This change may have an indirect effect on some other spawns, so I’ll be testing diligently throughout the week to see what else was impacted and dropping updates accordingly.
- Cross of Auria Demo build now available from the Steam Store!
Changes:
- World spawn enemies now trigger battle on contact.

Edit: 11:55AM APR 20
3.1.4.3 [Build #67, Release Date: April 20, 2020] Fixes:
- Fixed a terrain issue inside Auria/Visitor District/Armorsmith.

3.1.3.4 [Emergency Agartha Fix]

This will be available for download on Steam within 10 minutes of this post. Please stand by, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

3.1.3.4 [Build #63, Release Date: April 09, 2020]
Fixes:
- Deployed an emergency fix to the Shield fight in Agartha involving a change in the battle’s structure and the triggers used within. Previously, the game became frozen immediately following the fight. This patch resolves that specific issue. It is likely this was caused by the 3.1.3 skills being used in combat at all, but it could have been caused by the 3.1.3.3 minor change in the fight’s structure.

3.1.3.3 [Build #62, ActSeq Battle Fixes]

This week, a ton of work went into the new Lvell zones. As of right now, only guard NPCs have been made and placed. The interior of each structure is the current focus. However, it became apparent that I need to make a brand new trailer for the Steam Store page, so my focus shifted for the day. While gathering footage for the trailer, I came across a few issues that were missed from the addition of the new skills. The short story is: some of the battles in CoA, mostly "boss" style battles, use end of turn or even death attacks. These scripts interfere with the disappearing effect of the new attacks. For instance, Alex's Arcane Missile if it were to kill the Shield enemy in Agartha would cause the text boxes to be unreadable and members of the party to not appear until after Crash was used. A temporary fix for -some- of these issues is now in place, but a full playthrough of the game is necessary on my part to determine need-to-fix locations. In the meantime, I'll have to fix these on an as-I-notice-them basis. Feel free to report any oddities you may uncover!

Upcoming:
3.1.4 will bring about the opening of the new Lvell zone, containing base dialogue and vendors for start-of-game and return to Lvell via Rabbit's Foot checkpoints. From there, 3.1.4.x will expand on the new zone, including quest additions to The Phoenix Ash and other things I'm both not sure of yet and not ready to reveal yet. Once the new Lvell zone is on par with other zones for the time being, 3.1.5 will come bringing the first elemental resistance technologies. It won't be possible for me to handle them as I originally planned, so instead of permanent aura's, we will be working with usable items similar to those available from StarSpear.

3.1.3.3 [Build #62, Release Date: April 09, 2020] New:
- More data files have been added for the new Lvell zone. This zone is not yet accessible.
Fixes:
- Quest Log plugin code removed from Rabbit’s Foot intro quest.
- Quest Log plugin code removed from Caravan Dan sidequest.
- The An’rim Operant now uses a different switch to trigger completion. If you have defeated it but have not yet returned to the Rabbit’s Foot, you will need to return to Den An’ura and defeat it again to trigger the new switch.
- Fixed display issues during the Defense Matrix battle resulting from the new skills added in 3.1.3.
- Fixed display issues during the An’rim battle resulting from the new skills.
-- The fix involves both an ally and an enemy using a hidden skill “Reveal” – which is why you will see Alex perform a “cast” animation but not do anything. If Alex is dead when Reveal should trigger, visual issues may persist.
- Alex now learns Arcane Missile at Level 6.
- Riley now learns Uppercut at Level 1.
- Miles now learns Blitz at Level 1.
Changes:
- Battles from the Rabbit’s Foot intro quest now trigger on player contact and track Ruby aggressively.
- Battles during the Caravan Dan sidequest now trigger on player contact.
- The An’rim Operant battle now triggers on contact.
Known Issues:
- Oddities in the display may occur from Arcane Missile if the enemy summons an ally on death and that ally attacks immediately (example: An’rim battle). Battle structure repairs are ongoing.
- [Be on the lookout!] – If any battles have issues of any kind using the new skills added in 3.1.3, please reach out to me ASAP via Facebook, Discord, or discussion board on Steam!

3.1.3.2 [Build #61, Release Date: April 05, 2020] [Unlisted] Fixes:
- Fixed an issue with the Frost Forest chest giving an unknown item.
- Fixed random chest loot common event for all dungeon chests.
- Added the “Deprecated Item” to all affected item slots. This version of Deprecated Item on use triggers a modified version of the Mystery Box. Use it before it’s gone!

3.1.3 [Build #60 Notes]

I've been meaning to do this for a long time... but I finally added the first few skills that do more than just slash. Each character now has a new level 1 skill, but for players who already have save files - you will need to pick it up from the Delivery Boy in the entryway of Auria.

Also; the Frostfire Set is available! Each pieces requires 10 Congealed Fire and 10 Congealed Frost to be purchased in addition to their gold cost.

3.1.3 [Build #60, Release Date: April 04, 2020] Important Notes:
- The Equipment Grading System outlined in 3.1.2.2 is now in effect moving forward! A complete explanation video guide is currently in the works.
- No differentiation will be made from here on out between start of game state and post Inn Scene checkpoint state. For upper level content moving forward, it’s safe to say it will only be available from beyond the Inn Scene / Orc War trigger unless otherwise specified. This does not include changes to terrain which are usually universal.
New:
- Data for the new 15 Point Replica Set is now in game.
- The 55 Point Frostfire Set is now available from StarSpear in The Black Forest.
- Each member of the party has a new low-level ability. For players who already have save files, talking to the Delivery Boy will add these skills.
-- Each of these skills has a 33% variance and the chance to critically hit.
Changes:
- Ruby’s Stance abilities have been removed from her level up tree. Their data remains in game pending a touch-up. Talking to the Delivery Boy will remove these skills if Ruby has already learned them.
- The “Development Notes” section of 3.1.2.2 has been removed from the “x. Patch Notes” text file.
- The bottom of the “x. Patch Notes” file has been revised to reflect a four-number patch note system.
- The Delivery Boy in Auria is now available in the Auria/Entrance to Market Town zone in addition to the expanded Auria/Entrance.
Other
- The "x. Patch Notes" file currently houses a brief roadmap of planned update releases. These are subject to change.
