First Major Content Update

The movement of animals has been drastically overhauled to provide a smoother yet more rewarding experience for those who can manage their speed and steering effectively. Along with this, animals can be overextended when sprinting, be it for strategy or if you haven't been paying attention and the longer you can maintain drifts for the more bonus adrenaline you will gain for boosting when you exit. We've also added a Speedster difficulty for those out there seeking more intense thrills.

The new Totem Cup grand prix was designed to showcase the new movement system, featuring new types of twists and turns that we haven't seen before that rewards higher skill manoeuvres. The cup will take you through a dirt rally in the outback, over the high bridges of bluffs, a spiral descent through a large volcano and the changing beaches of a tropical island.

And what better way to experience these changes than with splitscreen for up to 4 players! We're very proud to have implemented this feature and hope you get a lot of joy playing with others. You can set up custom keybindings and controllers for any type of setup from the Input menu.

Finally, the Woolly Mammoth has been introduced as the first new animal! This big boy is the largest in the game by far and is able to run through obstacles without slowing down!

Dev Blog - Updated Movement and New Grand Prix

Hello racers!

Since we released Primal Pursuit you may be wondering what we've been working on.

Firstly, we've been looking at the movement system and have come up with some ideas to improve upon it. The most major change is that the animals will no longer run on their own without holding any buttons. The initial purpose of having them run automatically was to help you feel like you were really riding an animal. Ultimately however, this provides less control and requires no input from the player, which doesn't feel great. Now if you let go of the forwards button your animal will slow down and give you much greater control for taking turns or dodging.

Among other tweaks, we will be adding to the adrenaline / sprint system to further enhance the feeling of riding a living animal and provide you with more options while racing. While sprinting and after you run out of adrenaline, you will be able to continue to push your animal even further into exhaustion. However after this your animal will need to recover and will be slower until you regain the lost adrenaline.

We've also begun work on a new Grand Prix which we will release for free when this update is ready. The four new tracks are being designed with the updated movement system in mind, allowing for much more importance to be placed on tighter turns and rewarding excellent steering.

Enjoy the WIP images of the first track, set outside of Outback Oasis and happy racing!
