DOCTOR’S NOTES: VERSION 1.5

A belated Happy New Year, surgeons! Since returning back to the studio, the Surgeon Simulator 2 team have been focused on squashing bugs and making general game improvements, and we have a new version of Surgeon Simulator 2: Access All Areas ready for all our PC players.

Update Surgeon Simulator 2: Access All Areas to version 1.5 on PC to gain access to the following patches:

  • Level ratings now correctly appear on the thumbnails in the terminal, so you can easily see which is a highly rated level!
  • General UI improvements, such as ensuring appropriate buttons are highlighted.
  • Newly created and validated levels can now be seen in the ‘Newest Levels’ list in the terminal.
  • Fixes for the terminal displaying as blank when loading into the lobby.
  • We’ve given Bob his blood back in the Surgery 101 level… where did it even disappear to!?
  • SFX fixes in Creation Mode.
  • Improvements for controller on PC, including a fix for loss of controller functionality when viewing Community-Made Levels in the terminal, and the ability to ‘favourite’ and ‘unfavourite’ levels using controller input.
  • Winning players will now (rightfully!) be displayed on the end of the level screen in Campaign Levels.
  • Thumbnails for Community-Made Levels levels now appear, rather than being stuck in a loading state.
  • Levels no longer appear as ‘invalid’ when players create a custom queue.
  • Sometimes the vactubes get a bit blocked, and now all players will receive a ‘Tubes Jammed’ prompt should an issue occur.
  • Backend improvements to speed up the client.

If you encounter anything that doesn’t seem right in-game, remember you can always submit a ticket to our customer service team here. Happy surgery-ing! 2022 is the year you’ll get your medical licence, we can feel it.

Vote to nominate Surgeon Simulator 2 in this year’s Steam Awards!

Isn't everything better with friends? We certainly think so! That's why co-operative play was one of the earliest features that we decided upon when development began on Surgeon Simulator 2. We doubled down on that by offering a fully co-operative experience in all game modes, even going so far as to allow players to collaborate when creating custom levels.

Have you had a chance to play Surgeon Simulator 2 with friends yet? If so, we'd love you to nominate and vote for us in the "Better With Friends" category in this years Steam awards! The game will also be part of the Steam Autumn sale, with a whopping 30% off! So if you haven't had a chance to play yet now's the perfect time.

And if you haven't had a chance to play with friends yet, why not head on over to the official Surgeon Simulator 2 discord server to see if you can find some folks to play with? We have a friendly, welcoming community on there so no doubt you can find someone to play with.

Finally, if you've enjoyed your time with Surgeon Simulator 2 so far and haven't already done so, we'd love it if you could leave us a review sharing your thoughts on the game
Thank you,
Bossa Studios

What’s New in the Surgery Room?

Hello surgeons!

It’s been almost two months since we launched Surgeon Simulator 2: Access All Areas on Steam and we have been working hard to fix issues and deliver a great Halloween update (which is now live!), so we would like to give you a quick update of what else has changed since launch.

Apart from several small fixes and some quality of life improvements, here is a list of the things we have fixed and changed so far thanks to your feedback:

  • We've listened to your feedback and will no longer automatically add friends to your Steam friends list when adding them in the game. Be aware that removing a friend from your Steam friends list will also remove them from your in-game friends list
  • Fixed player names displaying incorrectly at the end of a level
  • Adding a friend in Steam now adds the friend in-game. Removing a friend needs to happen both in-game and in your Steam friends list, for full flexibility

We would also like to mention that the long loading screens and authentication issues should also have improved - we have made some important server side updates that hopefully helped.

We really hope that these fixes made a great impact in your experience and you can focus on the most important matter: performing terrible surgeries with your friends.

Please keep sending us your feedback! Your bug reporting and support messages mean a lot to us.

Aside from that, we have a message from one of our lead developers on the title, Mark:

Safe to say it’s been a busy month since we launched on Steam! The team has been overwhelmed, in the best way, with the number of players jumping into the surgery and operating on Bob.

As with any live service game, there were a few teething issues. We have now pushed out fixes across all platforms to solve the most prominent problems, such as those stopping players from getting into the game altogether or joining in with friends. The team is continuing to work hard on terminating any existing bugs, and we can’t thank you enough for your patience and understanding.

Surgeon Simulator 2: Access All Areas has been a labour of love over the last few years, and it’d mean a lot to the team if you could leave a Steam review for the game. Steam reviews are super important for indie developers and publishers, and we love to read all your positive experiences.

A big thank you, again, for giving Surgeon Simulator 2: Access All Areas a whirl. Between completing development and QA work, watching your live streams, seeing your ridiculous screenshots and reading about your fun in-game experiences is our favourite thing ✌️
