We’ve been listening to your feedback regarding toxicity and have partnered with Modulate to test their voice moderation tool called ToxMod.

This update also includes revisions to the Match Over timeline, balance changes and some minor bug fixes.

[h3]NEW FEATURES & GENERAL CHANGES:[/h3]

Toxmod
  • We’ve partnered with Modulate to test their voice moderation software called ToxMod.
  • ToxMod works by analyzing voice chat audio in-game. You can think of it as an unbiased additional player in your lobby, looking out for and reporting toxic incidents. If it detects toxic activity, it flags it as such and sends that audio to us in a report. ToxMod allows us to listen back to flagged audio in a game without having a player record it themselves. Other Ocean and Modulate both take player privacy seriously - any audio from survivors will be anonymized and automatically deleted after 30 days.
  • ToxMod is not an automatic banning system; nothing will change about the way we enforce our Community Guidelines. You will not be banned for swearing or for friendly banter with your friends. We will continue to manually review each case, carefully consider the context, and investigate before taking any action.


Timeline Refresh
  • We’ve refreshed and updated the Timeline screen to display the time and location of match events.
  • This will allow players to view which areas of the map saw the most action, and get a better picture of what happened across the whole map.

[h3]BALANCE CHANGES:[/h3]

Traitor Crates

1. Adjusted Traitor crates so that they no longer guarantee a poisoned crossbow.
a. Poisoned crossbows have a ~50% chance of spawning in any Traitor crate.
2. Removed Normal Crossbows from Traitor Crates.
3. Adjusted spawn rate of level 2 energy drinks in non-cabin tile Traitor Crates.
a. New values are approximately:
i. Vodka 40%.
ii. Level 1 Drink 55%.
iii. Level 2 Drink 5%.
4. Increased the number of traps and utility items found in Traitor Crates.

Objectives
  1. Increased the difficulty of Blackout Animal Waves Objective.
  2. Increased the minimum required “Repair Resources” for “Repair” first objectives by 2.
  3. Moved Blackout Wave Console further away from Main Objective to allow for better animal pathfinding.
Weapon Balance

1. Increased the maximum damage of the shotgun to 420 instead of 375.
a. 84x5 (84 damage per shot, with 5 shots per click).
2. Slightly decreased the amount of gun parts that spawn in the Armory .
3. When aiming the shotgun, the player's FOV will slightly decrease.
4. Added damage scaling based on distance to the Bolt Action Rifle. Using the rifle in close range will result in less damage.
a. Extreme close range will deal scaled damage to approximately 200.
b. Damage quickly scales up to a maximum damage of 400.

[h3]BALANCE CHANGES:[/h3]
  1. Adjusted Open Bunker loot tables to greatly decrease the chance of crossbows spawning.
  2. Increased the Immune's base ability charge time from 5 minutes to 6 minutes.
  3. Decreased the amount of survival items found in bunkers.
  4. Decreased the probability of a Remote Sabotager to spawn in Traitor Airdrops.
  5. Added the ability to trap Blackout Traitor Crates with Trip Wires.
  6. Prevented duplicate Traitor Items from spawning in Airdrops.

[h3]KNOWN ISSUES:[/h3]
  • The Immune role is mistranslated in Canadian French.
  • Many supported languages are not updated for the new Yeti and Hunter descriptions.
  • First objective beacon is appearing on the North East tile on the Blackout map.
  • Some icons on the new timeline screen appear mirrored compared to their actual location.
  • The words "Emote Menu" appear instead of a prompt to assign a keybind in the keyboard keybinds settings.
  • Event icon remains on screen when using a Hysterical Gas or Solar Flare remote during an Airdrop Global Event.
  • Players resurrected by a Necromancer while in a herb bush will become permanently slowed.
  • The "Survive without placing any traps" bonus objective does not fail if an Icebomb is used to trap an objective.
  • Incorrect Tracker Tag color is displayed if a player swaps clothes with a player who was tagged with a green tag.
  • DLC trials players cannot access timeline after using their DLC token

  • Added additional information to the CustomAuthenticationFailed error message to help pinpoint the origin of the error.
  • Added a temporary fix to reduce the amount of crashes on Xbox while we work on a more permanent solution.
  • Fixed bug where multiple Global Events caused console players to crash.
  • Fixed a bug causing crossbows to spawn more often than designed.
  • Fixed High Risk Crates spawning outside of the Risk Zone.
  • Fixed the F Cube.
  • Added an easter egg of the F cube to the [REDACTED].
  • Fixed the Immune being unable to use their ability after the role was stolen by the Identity Thief.
  • Fixed bug where a player could sometimes move or attack normally when rag-dolled by lightning or a landmine.
  • Fixed text overflowing the “Community Guidelines” button when language is set to Russian.
  • Fixed the Advanced button text appearing crowded and overflowing when language is set to German or Russian.
  • Fixed issue causing the Bleed timer to remain until death, even when the player is not being bled.
  • Updated the Tracker role ability description to reflect new changes.
  • Fixed the ability wheel automatically filling and being unable to be used after swapping roles to Immune while in Practice Mode.
  • Fixed "Matches Left Early" text being misaligned and spilling out of the text box on the Profile menu when the Spanish and Chinese languages are selected.
  • Fixed text overflowing on the Host button in a preset when the Greek language is selected.
  • Updated the Immune’s description after change to ability.
  • Fixed an issue causing Airdrop Global Event crates to remain after the event.
  • Fixed text overflowing on the “Reconnect” button when language is set to Ukrainian.
  • Fixed Penguin Pajama appearing as Caribou Pajama while language is set to Portuguese or CA French.

Addressing Community Toxicity



The Steam Winter Sale has brought in a lot of new players which is always exciting! With new players comes new feedback and reviews - some good and some bad. We are aware that we are dealing with issues of increased player toxicity and are working on developing and finding new tools to help combat it.

We ask that any players who witness or experience toxic behavior report both in-game and through our discord ticket system in the report-player channel. Our goal is to reduce toxicity and create a better player experience that will allow our playerbase to continue to grow.

A reminder of some of our community guideline rules relating to toxicity:
1. Be excellent to each other
5. Harassment of any form will not be tolerated
6. Trolling, Griefing, or intending to lose (disconnecting, AFKing, Idling or refusing to play, basically ruining anyone else's game on purpose) will not be tolerated

The Project Winter elves have sprinkled the cabin with a little holiday cheer again this year. Enjoy a festive touch for the Holiday event live now until January 3rd!

This update focuses on some housekeeping items including balance changes to the immune and tracker roles, adjustments to various loot tables and new cosmetics.

[h3]NEW FEATURES & GENERAL CHANGES:[/h3]

Immune Rework
  • Immune’s ability is now an “Active” ability.
  • This ability does not start charged.
  • The ability charges faster alone.
  • The ability charges faster during a global event.
  • Using the ability makes the player Immune to the current global event.
  • Ability can only be used during a global event or its “warm up” period.
  • Using the ability will mute the Immune player for the duration of the global event.
  • Using the ability will hide player names during the duration of the global event.
Tracker Rework
  • Tracker can now up to two players or objects
  • Tracker can see snow trails longer than others
  • Tracker tags placed on objects will transfer to a player who interacts with that object.
  • Tracker can tag downed players.
  • Tracker tags are disabled after a Solar Flare until the Tracker returns to the cabin.
  • Added “Ukrainian” language option.
  • New Holliday Progression Tree

Cabin Bunker Changes
  • Crossbows, Gun parts, and Stimulants are less common
Cabin Traitor Crates Changes
  • Gun parts can no longer be found in Traitor Crates near cabin
  • Regular Crossbows now cost 1 Traitor credit and can be found in Traitor crates more frequently.
Non-Cabin Traitor Crates Changes
  • Energy drinks are no longer a guaranteed spawn in distant Traitor crates
  • New spawn rates are: 25% Vodka, 45% Level 1 Drink, 30% Level 2 Drink
Traitor Crates (All Crates) Changes
  • Poisoned Crossbows are limited to 1 Crossbow per crate
Allow for Traitors to sabotage Cabin Radio at any point in the match
  • Currently it can only be sabotaged after the second objective is fixed, which often does not leave enough time for Traitors to make a move.
Traitor Ability Items
  • Traitor Ability items will no longer be prevented during minor events
  • Escape Pod
  • Global Exile
  • Jam Radios
  • Airdrop Event
Deep Woods Balance Changes
  • Destructible Ice wall added in front of the Cave
  • Removed a pair of Traitor Hatches allowing for quick access to the Cave.
Gun Balance Changes
  • Sniper now has 8 rounds and does 400 damage
  • Shotgun now has 8 rounds and does 375 damage
  • Poison Crossbow now costs 1 crossbow and 2 poison to craft
Armory Balance Changes
  • Fully crafted guns have a lower chance of spawning in Armory
  • Gunparts have an increased chance of spawning in Armory
Easter Egg
  • A mysterious item was added to the crates of the Lab, Distant Bunkers and Deep Woods Cave.
  • Ranged Weapons found in bunker crates will spawn in with the cosmetic skin belonging to the player that opened the crate.
  • Disabled self-cast option for the Ice Bomb
  • Remote Sabotage now costs 16 Traitor credits
  • Disguise Kit now mimics the "Traitor Information" wheel progress and reveals information for Disguised Survivors.

  • Multiple players activating beacon on armory at the same time can trigger consecutive notifications
  • "Radio Receive Volume" resets after relaunch
  • The "Survive without placing any traps" challenge does not fail if an Icebomb is used to trap an objective
  • Players body disappears if they die before departing on the Gondola
  • Destroying the Ice Wall on deep woods causes rocks to float in the air
  • Animals cannot enter the cave after the Ice Wall is destroyed
  • Poison pot pies do not count towards any progressions on challenges/progressions
  • Player stats in lobby shows incorrect Leave and Commendation amounts

  • Pulled out Christmas tree lights from the attic, found some cool snowman hats
  • Fixed visibility of nameplate for remote players resurrected during Mass Hysteria.
  • Fixed issue where the voice chat icon would appear over a cloned player's corpse instead of their resurrected original body
  • Traitors now receive a buff when using the delayed sabotage ability on objectives
  • Gave traitor crates their best holiday outfit
  • Fixed inconsistencies on unmuting players after being unblocked
  • Fixed instances when Traitor bleed ability triggers instantly upon use that can't be stopped by any players
  • Fixed down players cannot be interacted with once a traitor begins to bleed them
  • Fixed instances where a lobby may display a user as ready without them having selected the ready button
  • Fixed issues where a Traitor can trigger events after the mega blizzard started
  • Fixed the Take a Hike Steam achievement to be unobtainable again
  • Traitors now will get a buff when sabotaging the objective with a delay
  • Players now have nameplates after Mass Hysteria ends if they had been resurrected during the event
  • Removed Survivors being granted stat boosts when trapping objectives in game
  • Fixed "Increases" misspelling in the item description for ice bombs
  • Fixed Wide Silver Goggles so they do not jut out awkwardly from face when worn or viewed in progression menu
  • Updated Dab animation for Caribou to be more realistic
  • Removed ability to unselect All Possible Primary Objectives in Blackout custom presets
  • Fixed instances where there is a delay and occasional crashes when selecting Randomize Outfit in the Character menu
  • Fixed instances where the detective music doesn't stop playing when a body is resurrected by a necromancer
  • Fixed an issue where players cannot be revived after a delay if they have been bled to death then resurrected by a Necromancer previously
  • Fixed issues where an item breaks and becomes unusable when resurrected by necromancer while inventory is full
  • Fixed instances where the Traitor information wheel and health bar do not appear for players than have been converted to traitors
  • Fixed bug where the cipher station sometimes appears when the player selected the dig site in custom mode
  • Adjusted the role change animation/SFX so that it no longer plays repeatedly upon resurrecting someone who was disguised and had their role revealed to the Necromancer
  • Fixed too many localization issues
  • [Switch] Fixed Game crashing when opponent was killed by Necromancer player
