2021 Year Review and 2022 Road Map

Introduction

A new year is upon us and we are excited to see what the future of Ironsight will look like in 2022. Before revealing our plans for the new year though, we thought it would be a good idea to look back at 2021, and all of the things we have been able to accomplish throughout the year.

In 2021, Ironsight was released on GeForce-Now enabling more users the ability to join our amazing community. The game also received significant upgrades to it’s engine and performance, most notably with the addition of Multi-threaded rendering in April which helped users reach higher frame rates than ever before.

We have also tried our best to make use of our community, and listening to them for ideas on what additions or changes should be made to the game ti improve it. Throughout the year we saw a lot of amazing suggestions and thanks to everyone we were able to improve the game with the addition of Gold Attachments and Achievements, In-game Map Callouts, and after hearing your constant feedback we also allowed Custom Parts to be purchasable with GP. We hope to incorporate many more of your suggestions in the new year and we are always listening to your feedback.

Events

Many events were held throughout 2021 ranging from our Seasonal Spring, Summer, and Winter events to our Holidays events such as Halloween, and even a special Black Friday event where players were able to obtain the Black Fried Chicken Mace by completing achievements.

This year’s events saw a lot of upgrades from the previous year, with more interesting challenges like the Halloween Candy Collector challenge, better rewards, and bigger updates such as the brand new Gun Range Mini-Game which was released with the Winter update!

We can’t wait to start planning all of the events for 2022, and we hope to surprise you along the way with some interesting new ideas!

Updates

2021 saw the revival of the Ironsight Battle Pass. Season 4: Ultramarine was the first iteration of the new Battle Pass system, and it was a great success! Due to it’s popularity the new Battle Pass system has been able to run consistently, with regular Seasons throughout the year giving players amazing new items to unlock and collect every couple of months.

Season 5: Dawn of the Desert saw Battle Royale receive an update, going from Teams to Solo with more players and larger maps, being made available on Downtown and the newly expanded Outpost map.

Season 6: WWII came with not only a brand new skill, Device Detection, but also an entirely new map, Rust, and a lot of very popular weapons from history such as the Thompson and the Kar98k!

The most recent season, Codename 7 came with a revamped Gun Game (changing from a Team Mode to an FFA mode with some rule changes), Gold Attachment Achievements, new Male Custom Faces, and an overhaul of how new accounts are initialized and compensated in order to help all new players who join the Ironsight Community!

Weapons

A slew of new weapons were added to Ironsights arsenal in 2021, from the heavily anticipated Butterfly Knife to the ever popular Kar98k, In total 11 new weapons were added throughout the year, and we have a lot of exciting and interesting weapons lined up for 2022.

In addition, 4 new collection weapons were added; the Black Mamba Blaser, Pietro CheyTac, Artium MP5, and Royal Jester AK-12.

2022 Road Map

With the continued feedback, suggestions, and support from our Community and Iron Supporters, we will continue to work together in order create a better future for Ironsight by improving upon the aspects that were lacking in 2021, and developing the aspects that you would like to see in the future.
Weapons
With the addition of many new awesome weapons, we will also adjust weapon balance so as to help keep the game and it’s meta fresh and entertaining. We will also be looking into buffing and or adjusting weapons that are in desperate need of buffs, or are simply not being used due to other factors.
Skills and Attachments
We have received numerous opinions and suggestions regarding skills and attachments, and we hope to be able to add some in the new year. We also plan to review the possibility of adding attachments to secondary weapons, and develop and improve the system in the future.
Challenges and Achievements
We plan on improving upon and adding more interesting, interactive and engaging achievements, as well as more rewards to help increase the longevity of the game
Modes and Maps
Cyborg mode is scheduled to be removed from matchmaking, and being made available for special events only.

We will be looking at the Frontline mode and making some adjustments and improvements to it’s balance.

You have been asking for it for a long time now, but in 2022 Resource Takeover will hopefully be making it’s long anticipated return after making some final improvements to the mode and it’s AI.

We have also received numerous suggestions and feedback regarding the Secure Point mode, and how having only 1 active point leads to less strategy. We will revise Secure Point mode to have several active points to secure at once.

There are plans for more special modes (eg Snipers Only, Knife Fights) to be used as special events throughout the year.
Voice Chat
Introducing the Ping and Callout systems has helped to improve team coherence and strategy, but in 2022 we would like to improve upon that even further by adding Voice Chat as a more effective communication method.
Sprays
A spray tag system is planned to be added to the game, giving users more ways to express their emotions and personality in the game directly with various images and tags.
Drones
New drones are planned to be added and we plan on reviewing some of the existing drones and their balance.

The ability to choose loadouts according to the mode, as well as drone skins are also things we are looking at releasing this year.
Battle Pass
We will prepare more diverse, varied, and unique Battle Passes and Rank Seasons.
Netcode and Matchmaking
Although improvements have been made, we understand that many people still feel that this area of the game is a drawback and that recent improvements have not been enough. We will work harder in order to create a more pleasant, smooth, and seamless experience for everyone.

Since it’s launch on Steam, more than 1.75 million users have joined Ironsight, and we are thrilled to currently have more than 10,000 daily active users.

We are very grateful for the dedicated fans we have, and we will continue to work hard in order to improve and update the game.

Thank you!
