09.08 Update & Chuseok Event

Hello everyone, this is the Ironsight team.

This update introduces one of the features that have been frequently requested by the community recently.

Until now, during matchmaking, the server has been selected automatically to ensure the lowest possible ping for the majority of players in the lobby. Unfortunately however, this sometimes forces an outlying user to play on a server that is suboptimal. Although there may be more suitable servers available, a user can be forced into high ping servers if the pool of users available is concentrated in a specific region.

There have been many requests to divide the SEA and Asia regions, but before the merging of the servers last year in July, there were a lot of reports regarding long queue times and issues with matchmaking. As such, it has been judged that re-dividing the regions would not be feasible with the current number of users.

Alternatively, in order to help alleviate the issue we have decided to provide users the option to select which servers to connect to when matchmaking. As long as the user pool is sufficient, this will allow users to play on the servers that provide the best experience for them.

There are some concerns that this may reduce the number of possible users in the matchmaking pool, but we hope it will improve the overall game experience for all users.

In addition to this weeks maintenance, a special event will also be held this weekend, so continue reading to learn more about the new matchmaking options, special event, and the closing of Season 9!

Server maintenance will take place on Thursday, September 8th.
Please make sure to disconnect from the servers in advance in order to avoid any issues.
