[/p][p]In the new trailer, we put forward a terrifying creature called a Wendigo.[/p][p]The creature has been roaming the coldest part of Aurai since the first game and it was directly inspired by the North American First Nations’ spiritual traditions. Nine Dots is a studio from Quebec, surrounded by the green and beautiful boreal forest. The Wendigo is a creature we know well and feels close to us. It was natural for us to adopt the Wendigo as part of our Outward’s bestiary and link the legend to our fantasy world.[/p][p]
[/p][p]In the myths and legends[/p][p][/p][p]Wendigos originate from the spiritual traditions of the Algonquian-speaking First Nations across North America such as the Ojibwe, the Saulteaux and the Cree to name a few. Wendigos are told to be humans that turned into cannibalistic monsters with hearts of ice from their greed or selfishness. The tales promote tight knit community behaviors among their peers, even more so in the cold and harsh environment First Nations were living in during the North American winters. Illness and famine were spreading fast through the tribes since the cold made resources scarce. [/p][p]
[/p][p]The wendigos are sometimes described either as evil spirits that possess humans in their dream or from a bite. The greedier or the weaker the person is, the more likely they would be to be possessed and become a cannibal. They can also be described as physical beings that roam the coldest woodlands and will hunt humans with their heightened senses and incredible speed. The Wendigos have a terrifying physique. They are said to look like giant humanoids with big antlers, long claws and fangs. Their bones are tearing through their grey mummified skin and fur. They are also said to have a strong smell of death and decay, the best way for humans to detect a Wendigo is near.  [/p][p]

[/p][p]In the lore of Outward
[/p][p]In Aurai, Wendigos were once humans. They are people that had to turn towards cannibalism to survive horrible conditions and famine and then took a liking to it. They lost themselves and their humanity to greed and weakness and turned into very aggressive monsters that use frost magic as a result. They now wander around the coldest climates of Aurai in an everlasting quest for more flesh or reside inside caves where they feast on human remains and wait for some humans unfortunate enough to cross their path. [/p][p]

Launching Nine Dots Supporter Bundle

[p]Hi everyone![/p][p]Today, Lost in Prayer launches in Early Access, and we are taking this opportunity to create a bundle for those who wish to support Nine Dots by collecting all of our games![/p][p]Since we know that GoD Factory’s value is diminished by the fact that there aren’t many players on our servers, we will revise its price by cutting it by half to just 10$ USD in two weeks on July 29th. Meanwhile we're creating a 80% discount for the occasion![/p][p]Know that by buying our games, your patronage not only allows us to keep doing our best work on Outward 2 and on Lost in Prayer, but also help us support other small studios like Ever Curious by publishing their project Witherbloom.[/p][p][/p][p]It might not be obvious at first sight, but all of Nine Dots games are connected by sharing important design pillars. If you like one of our games, you probably have reasons to like the rest as well.[/p][p]If you keep supporting us, we’ll keep building a catalog of games that offer you self expression, autonomy, complexity, challenge, discovery, maturity and banger music. Sounds good?[/p][p][/p][p]Guillaume Boucher-Vidal, CEO and Creative Director at Nine Dots Studio[/p]
