Steam Leaderboard is Live

We had actually done this integration back when we did the Steam Achievements integration but by leaving a field blank in the SteamWorks setup you couldn't see the Leaderboard publicly!

You can see all players (Steam and not-so-Steamy) on our webpage.

COVID-19 Update and Released 2.2.14

The T-27 Mammoth has been released for sale!

You can read all about it here but know that it can hold 18 PODS for a total payload capacity of 306 MT. It can travel 40 km/h over rough terrain and starts at a mere 6,000,000 CR.

COVID-19 has us going a little cuckoo on day 5 of the siege here in the United States. We are actually finding more time to work on Rise each day as our commutes have been cut to zero. And to reward you for doing your part in social distancing we have added a special limited-time achievement "Pandemic" if you sign in through May 11.

We also added:
  • Airfield user colony type
  • Female character sounds
  • Upgraded vehicle collision detection with other vehicles and weapons
  • User-generated roads now connected to the city
  • Tutorial mode added from apartment through dropping off first cab fare
  • Pitch trim supported as a game controller axis assignment
  • Axis can be assigned to look around lateral and vertical view
  • Improved GUI magnification
  • Google Translation integration for all tutorial items, the MOTD, and global chat
  • Custom email templates for vBay, Sheriff's Office, Fleet Bank, Rusty's Rentals, and the Bradbury Building
  • Rusty's counter will now tell you time remaining and let you extend your rental
  • An additional 32 Steam Achievements

And fixed:
  • Rolling friction based on landforms update
  • Word wrapping fix
  • Listing vehicles for auction at vBay
  • And 47 additional tweaks and bug fixes!

Demo Version

We are excited to announce that a Steam edition demo is now available for download. Our plan is to give you 5 to 10 hours with absolutely no strings attached so you can see the breadth and depth of the game we have built.

Start as a lowly taxi driver and work your way through the progression tree from trucks to aircraft and eventually to space!

Gamepad Support

We added support for gamepads like the Xbox Controller which can be configured through the Configuration Dialog. The problem with these devices has always been a "shared" axis between the left and right triggers (as an example). Now we added a checkbox that uses "half" the axis for one channel and you can do the "invert" "half" for the other half of the axis.

Player Generated Roads

Players start out with barely a shirt on their back ... two cents to rub together ... you get the idea. But you do have a car ... not that you can get very far from Deois without getting stuck in the mud!

With all of the colonies surrounding Deois, new players miss out on many lucrative opportunities due to the lack of improved surfaces to drive on.

We recently added colony territories to aid in the management of colonies and their resources. Exposing the colonies and their territories on the Player Portal made it a straight-forward tweak to allow construction of road segments through the same interface.

Each road segment costs 11,065 MT of grade C (common) materials. You can read more about the restrictions and requirements on the wiki.
