Monthly Devlog #5

"Grill is dead. We can't let her sacrifice be in vain."
*Puts her on the grill.*
"Remember what she said before she died..."

Hi, this is Scofa with the newest news in Dungeon Munchies development.

This month's programming has burnt us all down to a crisp. We encountered a lot of issues when adding content and new features to the game. That's because the old framework of the game was designed when we were (slightly) younger and had its share of issues and inefficiencies.

This month, we spent a lot of time reworking that framework so we could work more efficiently. It's nothing flashy but it's a big change and we were able to fix many long-standing issues we've been having. This should allow us to work on the content more smoothly!

We plan to release the next chapter in the summer of 2020!

The next chapter will not only advance the story, but will almost double the number of levels, bosses, equipment and food in the game. We want it to be just as good, if not better than the release of the first chapter, so development time has taken longer than we expected.

To everyone who's following our progress, thank you for your patience, your support has been very dear and important to us.

If you want to follow our progress a little more closely, we will be at Taipei Game Show (Feb. 6-Feb. 9) next year with all new stages to play. Remember to mark your calendars and book your flights, or else!

We've redone the weapon system, which will allow us to create more tools to bring peace and prosperity across the dungeon. Here are a few we can show off right now:

New Spear
Nobody knows how to use this ancient weapon anymore. Sometimes, it does something unexpected. Maybe it's been enchanted or blessed!

New Axe
Like the New Spear, it's an ancient weapon. Its instructions have been lost.
Perhaps a special individual will be able to unlock its true potential.

Chili Gun
A weapon made, in a very inhumane manner, from the chili people. One of it's features is the ability to charge and fire a larger, spicier fireball. What's not a feature is the fireball floating upwards. That's a bug.

Dark Flame Sword
Charges up and shoots a slow-moving dark fireball.

Laser Sub-machine Gun
This gun shoots lasers but uses up electricity quickly.

Dark Moon
It's a good sword, but because the scabbard was designed poorly, a lot of effort is needed to take it out.

Staff of Confusion
A simple law enforcement device issued by the government.

Grappling Leech
Throw one of these at enemies and pull them closer to you. Most effective against aerial targets.

That's it and thanks for reading!

Here's a friendly parting reminder: when exploring swamps, watch out for leeches. They'll stick to you in the most inconvenient places!
