Planetary city builder Per Aspera multiplayer is here

There's nothing better than a city-builder game unless it's about building cities on Mars - and you can now do it in co-op, thanks to the newly-added Per Aspera multiplayer modes. As of now, up to four players can work together to colonise Mars, as Per Aspera is now a co-op game.

For the last few months, developer Tlön Industries has held various online betas for players to test out. Now, around 15 months after Per Aspera launched on Steam, the full multiplayer co-op experience is finally available for the sci-fi management game. It works like the Sandbox mode, and there won't be any PvP or military buildings - not yet, anyway.

Basically, how multiplayer in Per Aspera works is that up to four players can land separately on Mars and create their own little districts and colonies. However, research is shared and resources will have to be, too. You can save and return to the session at any point, so you don't have to play a round of this gigantic city builder all at once.

TERRAFORM TOGETHER

Multiplayer Launches into Space!

Now you are able to build, modify and terraform Mars with your friends. If you’ve ever thought you needed more hands to make an impact on the big red rock, now is the time to share the experience with your friends (up to 4 players).

Gather your Crew

The Multiplayer Mode is meant to work as a cooperative experience. Rally your friends and get your hands dirty while building the new landscape. Perform scientific research to enable plant and animal life in an otherwise inhospitable world. Show kindness and cooperation by sharing resources and impactful experiences.
Multiplayer Mode works like the Sandbox experience, so there won’t be any PvP and military buildings. Please note that multiplayer won’t support mods.

Lobbying for Mars

Lobbies are accessed directly from the Main Menu. From there you can choose to create or join other players in jolly cooperation. Lobbies can be public, where anyone can join you, or private, where only the most privileged of your friends are allowed to take this cosmic endeavor with you. Finally choose the game’s difficulty and start this amazing journey.

Resume Transmission

Multiplayer games can be saved and continued whenever you want, so don’t worry if it’s getting too late to deploy a new Organic Disposal Plant. All of you will be able to finish your monumental achievement tomorrow.

Everyone, Everywhere all at Once

Now we’ve also added support for Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Japanese, Russian and Simplified Chinese for the whole multiplayer experience. It’s time to call your friend on the other side of the world and take over a whole new planet!

Update 1.6.1
Wayfinding Upgrades
This small, special update brings to you some important improvements for our Way Generation Algorithm. This algorithm is in charge of everything to do with building roads. Our improvements should up the performance and feel for building roads - Especially on more advanced saves where there was a visible performance degradation.

Per Aspera Online Co-Op Beta Now Available!

Hey everyone!
The Co-Op Beta is here and we'd like to give you a little insight into how things work!
Patch Notes can be found in this separate News.

How do I participate?

For this Beta, we have decided to keep things simple - If you are playing on the default branch you will be participating and see a new button in the main menu.
On Mars, Betas will come to you willingly!
The Beta will run for approximately 2 Weeks.

Online Co-Op Basics

In Online Co-Op, you and up to three fellow Artificial Consciousnesses can tackle the Terraforming of Mars together in Sandbox Mode.
Mods do not work in Online Co-Op.
There is no PvP, only Co-Op.
Gameplay-specifics
Each player will receive a landing site they can freely place anywhere on Mars. The Sectors they are placed in will be automatically unlocked.
In Online Co-Op, the Building Limit is adjusted so both players can build complete colonies.
Research is shared between players.
Resources behave like normal. Each Landing Site is its own District, and District rules apply. the Resource numbers shown reflect all of Mars, not just your lander!
How to play
Playing together is pretty simple!
One of you has to open up a Lobby, as shown in the GIF below. Make sure to set your Room Type appropriately, leaving the Lobby open may allow other players to enter the Room.
When joining, you simply click "Join Lobby" and select the Lobby you want to join for Public ones, or ask your friend to invite you via Steam for Private ones.
You can also continue older games by clicking "Resume Game". Terraform Mars together - At your pace!
