A28 "Justice" Update Release

We are happy to announce that the A28 "Justice" Update is now live!

This time it is not our usual huge content release, but rather an equally important technical update. Those of you who play on PvP servers didn't like that certain mods offered certain advantages to its users, so in order to improve the balance for PvP players, we have introduced several changes to the game that remove any possibility to gain an unfair advantage and reignite the fire of competition on PvP servers. But obviously, these are not the only changes in this version. A28 introduces a large number of different QoL and balance improvements.

Some major changes include:
 • New improved security with executable anti-tampering, binary integrity checks, network encryption, critical component obfuscation, and code virtualization to prevent any client-side modifications when playing on special secure PvP servers. And as always, our existing authoritative server model makes server-state hacks categorically impossible. You can read more about new security features in the patch notes. We feel confident it will put away most hackers but we're also keeping our hand on the pulse to act quickly if we notice anything suspicious.
 • Reworked medical system, now you don't need to spam different medical items in combat and instead need to carefully choose what and when to use, especially in PvP, but it is also important in PvE.
 • You can now see the contents of ALL technological groups regardless of their prerequisites. This will make it easier to plan your technological progression.
 • In PvE you can now build a lithium extractor and oil pump in any biome, so you don't have to have several separate bases. But you can definitely still do that if you want.
 • Significant changes to weapon and ammo balance, the biggest of which is making T3-T5 ammo significantly cheaper. This should make those weapons more useful and you won't have to continue using lower-tier weapons even though you have access to better weapons just to save resources.
 • New laser sight item which can be equipped into the device slot to give all of your weapons laser aiming.
 • Lots of different UI improvements to make things easier to use or more convenient.
 • Many important fixes that address different issues in the game, such as the ability to destroy mechs of other players in PvE. We've ensured that all the reported issues are now fixed.

We have also continued working on the game balance to make progressing smoother and more rewarding. Especially when playing solo and without access to help from other players. You will now be able to access more T4 and T5 technologies easier without the need to farm resources.

As always, you can find detailed patch notes on our forums.

Obviously, it is not the extent of the work that was done. Originally we planned to have "Factions Update" released as A28 but had to postpone it for A29 because the game urgently needed fixes that we mentioned above and in patch notes. But thankfully none of that work has been lost and while the aforementioned fixes were implemented we continued working on new content and features and when A29 finally hits it will include double the amount of new content and features, so definitely stay tuned! Massive changes are inbound! Not only the faction system, but completely reworked map (with warp points!), all new raid-boss and new monsters, and a massive amount of new items, buildings, and new features in general!

Don't forget to join our Discord to be aware of all the news and updates. We post a lot of upcoming content art and other interesting things there regularly and you can chat with us directly if you have any feedback: https://discordapp.com/invite/cryofall

That's it for now! See you in the game!

A27 PvP Server Hotfix (v0.27.7.35)

=== CryoFall v0.27.7.35 (A27 PvP Server Hotfix) ===

Changes:
- PvP: fixed an exploit when it was possible to work around the oil/Li extractor placement restrictions and place them close to each other in PvP (there was a bug with placement checker when relocating an oil/Li extractor by 1 tile at a time).
- Food such as bread will no longer provide small healing effect (1 HP) as some players started eating dozens of them at once to heal quickly and it's an obvious advantage in PvP for players that could use a macro or mod to batch-eat and heal (we will consider further changes but in this hotfix, all food will no longer provide small HP restore).
- Pragmium Queen will be able to damage offline players as some players started placing offline player characters between them and the boss to use as a shield.

This hotfix is currently provided only for the official and some featured servers (CryoSmall/CryoFive/etc, as they're integrated into our deployment system). PvP only (PvE might get the same changes in future patches). It's available as a Docker image for community servers. It's not available for direct download from our Wiki yet.

A27 Patch #5 (v0.27.7.30)

=== CryoFall v0.27.7.30 (A27 Patch #5) ===

Changes:
- PvP: offline raiding protection shield is no longer available for a land claim that is located completely inside another base. This is required to prevent the abuse of shield with such base layout (see an example picture).

Fixed:
- Coal and salt minerals will provide a correct amount of resources (the same as before the previous patch).
- Increased the number of attempts to select an area for events (sometimes the server created fewer event locations than it should).

If you're hosting your own CryoFall PvP server it's recommended to install this update.

Important news and PvP servers wipe announcement

Greetings, everyone! Usually, it would be the time for us to announce the next PvP servers wipe, but this time we also have some important news for you!
Survey for the official PvP servers wipe interval
First of all, please participate in a quick public survey as we're trying to determine the best official PvP servers wipe interval for the next wipe—we could either keep it 4 weeks or switch to 3 weeks interval as many players are suggesting. Please vote here! (you will need to log in with a Google Account, it's required so each account could vote only once)
CryoSmall—solo PvP server
Now, regarding the community server CryoSmall—the owner of this long-standing and very much liked server has notified us that he would like to experiment with a new approach that would change the server to be specifically for solo play, allowing solo players to compete with each other without having to worry about being outnumbered. With the next wipe of this server (see the date below) this server will be switched into solo mode. As previously, this server is actively moderated to prevent any kind of alliances or cooperation between players to ensure fair play for everyone.
CryoFive—PvP server for groups of fives
In addition to the above mentioned change of focus of CryoSmall server, the administration of that server is also launching a completely new server called CryoFive which is designed to cater to small groups of players of up to five players maximum but will otherwise follow the same rules. This should be the perfect choice if you want to play with a few of your friends. We highly recommend anyone playing in a small group to try this new server. It will launch together with the official PvP servers wipe scheduled on August 14th!
Global PvP—>Clan Wars!
Finally, from the next wipe, the Official Global PvP server will be renamed to Official Global Clan Wars to make the purpose of this server more clear. This server is primarily intended for large groups of players to fight each other. Additionally, the group size limit will be also increased to 25 players (same as during the previous experiment in December 2019) while various access list limits are removed completely (i.e. you can add an unlimited number of people into your land claim and doors).

Additionally, for the next wipe, we're temporarily discontinuing Official America (North) PvP in favor of CryoFive, CryoSolo, and Clan Wars servers. This will consolidate most of the PvP audience on fewer servers while CryoFive and CryoSmall provide good ping for our players from North America and Europe!

Now that several global servers are catering to different types of preferences you can choose what works for you best:
- Playing on regional servers be it PvP or PvE
- Playing on CryoSmall designed for solo players
- Playing on CryoFive designed for small groups of up to five players and no alliances
- And finally, if you are a part of a large clan or want to join one—you can participate in epic battles on the Global Clan Wars server!
Wiping schedule
All the Official PvP servers have a scheduled wipe on August 14th. CryoFive will also launch at that moment!
Wipe time: 1 PM by GMT/UTC time (as usual).

For your convenience, here is the local time in the primary time zones we have:
• 8 AM by Central US (CST, GMT-5 summer time)
• 3 PM by Central EU (CET, GMT+2 summer time)
• 16:00 by Russia/Moscow (GMT+3)
• 21:00 by China/Beijing (GMT+8)
• 10 AM by Argentina/Brazil (GMT-3)
• 10 PM by Japan and South Korea (GMT+9)

CryoSmall solo server will be wiped on August 8th.
To follow up on both CryoSmall and CryoFive news please join CryoSmall Community Discord.

There is also Official CryoFall Discord that would be helpful if you're looking for a group or a clan for the next wipe on the official PvP servers.

A27 Patch #4 (v0.27.7.24)

=== CryoFall v0.27.7.24 (A27 Patch #4) ===

Event improvements and changes:
- Space debris, meteorite, and migration will be about 20-30% more frequent.
- Boss event (Pragmium Queen): +50% increased pragmium and gold reward.
- Floaters event will provide x2 amount of biomaterial (6 vials) that is necessary for implants crafting.
- PvE: doubled the number of locations for each event, but each location's circle area made smaller. This way the game will better distribute the events over the world map so more PvE players could participate in them regularly.
- PvP: meteorite event will provide +50% more gold when the server has reached Tier 4 (basic) time gate, and additional +50% more for Tier 5 (basic) time gate. This way we hope this even will be more interesting for endgame players.
- PvP: space debris event will exclude some low-tier items when higher tier time gate reached. This way the game will provide more valuable loot when Tier 4/5 time gates are unlocked.

Improvements:
- Hold Alt or Ctrl key to shot the grenade launcher like any other ranged weapon—the grenade will explode by hitting an obstacle or by reaching max range.
- PvP: added a map icon for S.H.I.E.L.D. status of the land claim. It's flickering when the shield is activating. You can also browse the shield status (how much time remains until activation or expiration) in its tooltip.

Changes:
- Drones will not slow down when they got close to you so they will be able to catch up with you if you're running away (especially the advanced drones).
- Steam generator will burn items with lower fuel value first (e.g. twigs before the logs, logs before the coal, coal before the firelogs).
- PvE: boss reward allocation changed—now only you will be able to pickup the loot allocated for you. (Previously the loot objects were collectible by the party members and we have received several reports from confused players telling us about players stealing their loot. We're still investigating an issue with not all the nodes displaying a lock mark but it could as well be fixed due to other changes)
- PvP: unstuck mechanic change: getting damaged and using weapons will not abort the unstuck timer. Now the mechanic matches what's mentioned in the timer notification. There are no other changes (e.g. moving will abort unstucking, and it's still not possible to use unstuck during the raidblock as it would allow base defenders to escape with precious loot, etc).
- Changed fish weight calculation method as the fish weight doesn't scale linearly to its size (the weight of the fish you've already caught was recalculated).
- The hotbar slot will be not selected on mouse button up to prevent accidental weapon switching. The game now require pressing the mouse button over it.
- The game will not disturb you if the master server connection was lost during the game. Also, it will close the master server connection automatically when it's no longer necessary (e.g. when you're connected to the game server and when you close the main menu overlay by pressing Esc key).

Fixed:
- Button tooltips didn't update their contents when the key binding is changed in the control options.

If you're hosting your own CryoFall PvP server it's recommended to install this update.
