Pokémon-like RPG Monster Crown has left early access

We have a bunch of Pokémon-like monster catching games on PC now, but if you're tired of Temtem or Coromon, you could give Monster Crown a go. It's an RPG with turn-based combat that launched in full today after a year of early access. It sounds a little darker than other Pokélikes though, because instead of taming or catching your mons in magical contraptions, you make pacts with them.

Weekly Update 0.95 - Status Effects change, New Moves, New Monster!

Good Saturday tamers!

This week's update brings us to 0.95 and with it, comes some interesting changes.
Battle Balancing
One issue that has been common (but has become lesser over the months) is the OHKO-promoting nature of Monster Crown's battle system. If you got on a sweeping spree, you were hard to stop, and likewise, the foe would be as well. For this reason, there has been a change to the game and the operation of status effects.

First off, the game has received a 1.3x modifier on the HP of all generated monsters. This prolongs battles very little in the beginning but by a turn or so on average by the time you reach Crossroads, and a few more by late game. This makes battles last longer and gives you a greater opportunity to make use of buffs/debuffs and status effects.

Additionally, status effects now heavily reduce speed, so if there's a foe you just can't seem to slow down, status effects are a great way to level the playing field. Of course, this also means that they plague you to an additional level.

To mitigate this, the super common Aloe Leaf now also functions as a catch-all antidote, and heals any status effect when used. Should be a good way to put those stacks to use you've no doubt accumulated! :D
New Moves
To pair with the status effect change above, some new moves have been added that are sure to help in your team and strategy-building efforts:

Adrenatoxin
POW: 3
Type: Relentless
Has an 80% chance of inflicting Adrenaline Rush
Monsters: Cobreo, Vyrn, Amphyvern, Syleendra

Salt the Wound
POW: 9
Type: Unstable
Does 2x damage to a monster with status condition Wounded
Monsters: Gavile
New Monster
This week's new monster is Cheshinger. This monster was revealed long ago and has become a long-time favorite for some. Think you can guess what this monster is based on?

Have a great rest-of-your-weekend folks, we've got a lot of great stuff on the way over the next 1.5 weeks leading up to release! Stay tuned.
