Dear Warlords, This is Booming Tech, and we hope you've been enjoying your conquests. Today, we'd like to talk about our development process for Season Weapon Attire.
The truth is, developing the Weapon Attire for any given Season is no simple task. We challenge ourselves to create designs that are not only outstanding but also fit the Season's theme. For example, when designing the Weapon Attires for the [Dynasty Awakening - Terracotta's Art of War] Season, we researched the historical weapons of the Qin Dynasty. This led to the creation of the [Taotie] Longsword & Shield Weapon Attire for the Dynasty Awakening Season.

Now, let's turn our attention to our [Sacrum Romanum - Crown and Cross] Season. The name itself alludes to the central conflict between the "Crown" and the "Cross." This power struggle often culminated in the ultimate religious punishment: excommunication. The term "excommunication" (from the Latin excommunicatio, meaning "out of communion") is a form of religious punishment that severs an individual's ties with their faith, typically for committing forbidden acts. Several emperors of the Holy Roman Empire faced excommunication, with Henry IV and Frederick II being the most famous examples. An "Excommunicated Kingdom" refers to an empire ruled by such a figure, and through this concept, we aim to express the schism between papal and imperial authority within the Holy Roman Empire.
Against this historical backdrop, we began to consider what elements could best shape the Weapon Attires for the Sacrum Romanum Season. The first element that came to our minds was the "eagle".
The eagle motif and its imagery originate in Rome. Back in 107 BCE, the Roman statesman Gaius Marius was elected consul and established the eagle standard—the Aquila—as the primary emblem of the Roman legions. It symbolized Jupiter, the king of gods in Roman mythology. As Christianity rose and the Western Roman Empire fell, the various peoples of northern Europe began to adopt Christian and Roman traditions. The Papacy, facing threats from all sides, also started seeking a powerful protector. In 800 CE, the Frankish king Charlemagne was crowned Roman Emperor by the Pope, and the eagle emblem, later known as the "Imperial Eagle," became a primary symbol of his Frankish Empire.
From that moment on, a papal coronation as Roman Emperor came to be seen as the ultimate source of a European monarch's legitimacy. The imagery of the eagle then became widely recognized by Europe's rulers following the fragmentation of the Frankish Empire. In 962 CE, Otto the Great, king of East Francia, was crowned "Roman Emperor" by the Pope. His dynasty laid the foundations of the Holy Roman Empire, and kings who followed him began to feature the eagle's image upon the imperial scepter. When the famous Frederick I "Barbarossa" was crowned Roman Emperor, the use of the eagle expanded to banners and coins. It was also during his reign that the word "Holy" first appeared in the empire's official name. From then on, the eagle stood as the direct embodiment of imperial authority and the Empire itself, a symbol proclaiming its dignity, legitimacy, and power.

With our key elements established, we began the process of crafting the new Season's Weapon Attires. For our first design, we focused on fusing the iconic imperial eagle with a shield.

- Name: Eagle Bloodpact
- Description: The Emperor's gifted spear is said to be fashioned after a relic known to all the faithful. As a coronated guardian, sanctioned by Emperor and Church, you bear the oath of the Empire — sworn to defend its glory in blood.
- Weapon Type: Shield & Spear
Following this theme, we integrated the eagle motif into the bow's body and quiver, resulting in this Bow Attire:

- Name: Skyhunter
- Description: The bowstring draws taut, as though all starlight follows the falcon's gaze to pierce the night. Beneath the double eagle's eyes, once the arrow slips the string, it cleaves darkness like a meteor.
- Weapon Type: Bow
Next, our exploration led us to a second key element: the 'lion.'
Unlike the eagle, a symbol of imperial authority, the lion was an image more broadly adopted by the nobility across Europe. Although ancient Europeans rarely encountered real lions, the concept was carried to the continent by peoples migrating from Africa and Asia. The Roman Empire and Christianity then instilled its symbolic meaning—courage and nobility—in the peoples of northern Europe. As brave, powerful, and distinguished leaders began to be called 'lions,' their descendants and the realms they ruled started to adopt the lion as their own symbol.
By the High Middle Ages, the lion's imagery had spread far and wide, becoming a symbol of honor granted to noble houses. The 12th-century Kingdom of Bohemia serves as a classic case: the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II formally recognized the Kingdom of Bohemia by decree, and the coat of arms he bestowed upon it was a crowned, white, double-tailed lion. Taking advantage of the Empire's waning power, Bohemia expanded rapidly over the next 50 years, and one of its rulers even ascended to become the Holy Roman Emperor. Though Bohemia's power would eventually decline, causing it to lose its independence several times, the emblem of the white, double-tailed lion endured. To this day, this same majestic lion can still be seen on the coat of arms of the modern-day Czech Republic.

And so, we arrived at our third weapon. For this design, we fused the lion element with the body of a musket, creating an air of luxurious nobility.

- Name: Lion Eclipse
- Description: Between starlight and flame, the lion keeps silent vigil over the capital's first light. The nobles' defiant roar becomes a crimson flare coursing through the barrel. Each shot ignites the warriors' fervor for war.
- Weapon Type: Musket
All three of the Weapon Attires above can be obtained for free in the living All or Nothing event.
And that brings us to the end of this developer log. We hope all of you Warlords enjoy the three new Season Weapon Attires featured in our All or Nothing event. We look forward to seeing you wield these three new Season Weapon Attires from the [All or Nothing] event on the batteldground.
May victory with you on the battlefield
