Patch v0.17.2 - Arena Update and Balance Changes

Patch 0.17.2 demonstrates the beginnings of what we believe to be a ship-quality UI, aesthetically speaking. It also contains the next iteration of our draft mode, as well as a giant list of balance changes, many of which are buffs to under-utilized cards.

Features & Bug Fixes
  • Visual update to UI
    • Note that the UI is a work in progress and there’s still plenty of work to do
  • Added deck list and deck export functionality to Twitch overlay
    • See Known Issues
  • New draft experience (both Gauntlet and Arena)
    • 6 cards > 5. The draft screen is now a vertical layout to accommodate the increased number of cards
    • 3 paths and 3 powers are shown at the beginning of the draft - all of them are added to your draft collection
    • Removed adaptive color matching in favor of boost and cull cards that allow you to curate your card colors yourself. The first boost card increases the chances of a color by 100% and the second increases the chances of that color by 200%. The first cull card reduces the chances of a color by 50% and the second reduces it to 0%.
    • A given pick slot can now contain more than one card
    • Arena bonus drafts are now 3 rounds instead of 5
  • Arena mode now gives more rules information, including current banked winnings. Added bonus coin for 7, 8, and 9 wins.
  • Added “CLEAR” button to deck editor
  • Added a new puzzle, courtesy of Navy Seagull
  • Puzzle Importer (all platforms except WebGL)
    • Unfortunately, a full-fledged puzzle editor is out of scope for the time being. However, for people willing to do some text editing, we’ve added a puzzle importer as an intermediate step.
    • See the #puzzles channel in our Discord for file format
  • End of first Beta season extended to Dec 20 (from Dec 8) to better accommodate patch schedule (note this is still not a final date)
  • Coin cap is raised by 1000 for each $1 spent supporting the game. You can see your own coin cap in the player profile panel
  • Added vfx to call attention to Maat button (see Known Issues)
  • Fixed bug where gem highlights when threatening to cast a card were occasionally wrong
  • Collector achievement now works again
  • Fixed a bug where card text for the Depletion event card was not being displayed
  • Fixed ordering inconsistency originally reported as Daring Trapezists on Orpheum of Horrors attacking into Einherjar Thane
  • Fixed bug where Stubborn Tengu dying doesn’t trigger certain demise effects
  • Fixed bug where Stubborn Tengu doesn’t get its awaken ability back when removing in play abilities if it has a permanent ability modifier
  • Fixed bug when replacing enchantments while War Fan is in effect
  • Fixed a bug where Fated Firebird dying and returning to hand wasn’t triggering other demise effects on board
  • Stacking keyword is no longer suppressible (fixes bug when casting a stacking artifact while Loki’s Veil is in effect)
  • Decreased the mission requirement for Aztlan VIII (Build for the Ages) Faction Mission to 12
  • Increased the mission requirement for Aztlan II (Pauahtun) Faction Mission to 18
  • Fixed a bug where conceding counted towards completing Oberos III (Sanguine) Faction Mission
Known Issues
  • Tournaments are NYI
  • Guilds are NYI
  • Card material/trim customization panel has visual bugs (iOS only)
  • Maat button left the building (iOS only)
  • ‘Protect’ power shows up when viewing Paths & Powers in the Collection. Please pretend that’s not there
  • Twitch overlay will be broken until the new one gets approved by AMZN (word is that twitch overlay approval can take as long as two weeks, so we’re in their hands)
Path Tuning
Rainbow’s End
  • Starting life: +7 → +5

Bringing Rainbow down a little now that Leprechaun’s Coin has done a good job of narrowing the performance gap between going first and second.

Card Tuning
Cards marked with * will be refundable for essence for one week after the patch. Note that this is not a policy change - we decided that our usual crafting history duration needed to be extended beyond one week, and implemented that change for this patch as well. However, because the extension isn’t retroactive, we decided to change how refunds work for this patch only.

Patch Notes v0.16.3

Faction missions are here! Check out the new Factions tab in the Missions panel. Click on the faction you want to work on, and you’ll be given the next mission for that faction. Faction missions help anyone working on their collection, but new players should find the targeted rewards particularly useful for building that first competitive deck. This patch also lays the groundwork for the Halloween event that will take place on October 28th-31st.

Features & Bug Fixes
  • Added Factions tab to the Missions panel
    • Select one faction quest line to work on at a time
    • You may switch factions without losing mission progress
    • Selecting a faction changes your main menu background to match
    • Each faction quest line consists of 9 missions
    • Total rewards include 32,400 coin, 36 common wild cards, 36 uncommon wild cards, 12 rare wild cards, 6 mythic wild cards, and 72 selected high-quality singles
  • Halloween 2v2 Event October 28th (10am UTC) - November 1st (10am UTC)
    • All minions are spirits
    • You gain 2 temporary mana for each of your minions that dies
    • Halloween event mission: Kill 113 minions to get an exclusive card back
  • Localization Platform
    • If you want to be a volunteer translator please contact us via Discord
    • Translators will get packs, not cash (we’re preferentially looking for translators who are true fans of the game at this time)
  • Increased the timer for the High Five elite mission line to 22 hours
  • Quick Launch should now take you directly to the relevant Mission tab
  • The Gamayun portrait/intro that was previously only in the story is now available for players to unlock and encounter as a regular AI opponent
  • Fixed a rare issue that caused a zoomed card to get stuck in the middle of the screen.
  • Fixed bug where “Faster Matchmaking” checkbox was sometimes not shown on the 2v2 matchmaking screen
  • Added loss streak bias to the matchmaker to give players slightly easier matches.
  • Clamped matchmaking rating so that players on the extreme ends are able to find matches in the casual queue
  • Added overall completion percentage to player profile collection tab. The overall completion is based on essence value, so higher rarities are more heavily weighted

Known Issues

  • Tournaments are NYI
  • Guilds are NYI

Paths
Journey of Souls
  • Now removes 3 souls at the start of turn even if there are no minions in your boneyard

Just clarifying that the damage doesn’t secretly get through or anything when the proxy eats it.

Patch v0.16.2

This patch focuses on a visual update for all card colors -it’s now much easier to tell what color a card is! Some pesky bugs have also been dealt with (players now automatically concede after a few minutes afk, a timer bug causing turns to sometimes not end when the turn timer expires, and the expiration timer for the High-Five mission is now correctly shown). Check the website for news about some cool events taking place during the rest of the month.

Features & Bug Fixes
  • Updated card and rarity visuals
  • Added custom mouse cursor (disable option available in Graphics settings)
  • Moved the Level and Maat player screens from the player profile to tabs in the missions and achievements panel
  • The Daily Bonus Pool panel now shows the starter bonus pool separate from the universal bonus pool to reduce confusion about how the bonus pools work
  • Fixed High Fives elite mission to show expiration timer and to properly expire
  • Arena matches now have a chance to give weekly chest emblems and daily card rewards
  • Players will auto-concede if they are idle for two full turns
  • Fixed an issue where games could get stuck with no auto end turn timers firing
  • Bronze ranked players and lower MMR casual players can no longer enable “Faster Matchmaking”
  • Reworked the Prestige / Wild Card filter button into a popup list of toggles
  • Reworked the crafting UI. Upgrading prestige cards is now done from the card being upgraded
  • The Deck Editor card gem filter initializes to the colors used in the deck
  • Deck import now constructs the deck with prestige cards if available
  • Deck export now lists just a single entry for each base card

  • Increased time until idle emote triggers

Known Issues
  • Tournaments are NYI

Cards/Tuning
Celestial (keyword tag)
  • → Removed
It’s not yet referenced by any other mechanic, so this just makes Ourania Muse and Máni, Queen of Tides Muses while dodging the unspoken implication that Celestial Dragon’s name and tags should be identical (thereby driving Xeneth insane).

Incubation Chamber
  • Minions created in and occupying this lane have Armor 2 and Stunned until the end of your next turn, but get +3/+3 afterwards → This effect is cancelled if the minion leaves early
This is actually just a card text change to clarify the current mechanics.

Kára Mourningwives
  • Gets +1/+1 when your opponent creates a minion → an enemy minion is created
A text-only change to reflect the way she already works in 2v2.

Meso Libre
  • Awaken: The minion in the opposite lane is Stunned until the end of its → next turn

Another text-based change intended to clarify the length of the effect in cases where he gets created out of turn.

Rogue Idolon
  • Renamed from Rogue Vocaloid.
Sovereign Architect
  • Create a 2/2 Imp with [Agile] in one of your unoccupied lanes → a friendly unoccupied lane
More flexibility in 2v2, where individual spells and spell-like effects can be more interesting if they synergize with your ally. This also lines up nicely with the “Ved’ma air drop” mechanics implied by how Academy Recruitment plays.

Art/VFX

Art updated for Sideshow Chimera, Tangleskein, Reincarnation, Xelhua the Builder, and The Oak of Dodona

Patch Notes v0.16.1

Features & Bug Fixes
  • Players now receive experience for PvP losses

  • Notification icon now appears on profile button when there are Maat rewards to collect
  • Fixed a bug that could prevent a player from editing certain decks or performing crafting operations
  • Fixed a bug where copying a deck would overwrite the source deck
  • Horizontal non-slug deck editor should now work again
  • Fixed a bug where deck and card collection views can become unresponsive when using the card search filter
  • If you set a favorite cardback or trim, it now automatically sets all decks that were set to your previous favorite cardback or trim to the new one
  • Card back selector now shows the name of each card material / trim
  • Client should now restore the last used window size for custom window sizes on restart
  • Cards in the pack opening screen are now zoomed with mouse wheel or double-tap
  • Fixed an issue that was causing drastically lower framerates on MacOS when in full screen
  • Arena card choices now adapt to your previous picks
  • Fixed a bug in the tutorial if the player burns a card before instructed to do so
  • Blast tooltip now reads “after striking” as opposed to “after attacking” to make the distinction that when a minion with Blast attacking a minion with Alpha Strike that dies before striking doesn’t trigger its Blast effect
  • Fixed a bug that would cause the banish combat preview to sometimes be shown in place of the bounce preview
  • Fixed a bug where a card’s energy would not be properly updated when bounced to hand
  • Fixed a bug that allowed the AI to cheat and play Draugr opposite an empty lane

Cards/Tuning
Hyperborean
  • 6(B)BB → 6(B)B
  • → Has Regen 1 while occupying an enchantment
Norn Datacore
  • Gain temporary mana equal to 🗲, then lose that much 🗲 → For every 2🗲 gain (1) temporary mana, then lose that much 🗲
Ring of Eternity (generated by Celestial Dragon)
  • (1) → (3)
Note that this should be a small buff to Celestial Dragon, given the Ring is something your opponent gets to cast.

Serendipity Ifreet
  • When you draw a card, deals 1 damage to you → you lose 1 life
Temptation
  • Take control of an enemy minion with mana cost (6) → (5) or less...

Crafting Refunds
Even though the rate of change has already slowed down as we exit alpha, tuning individual cards is always going to be a vital balancing tool that we need to be prepared to wield responsibly.
  • Accounts that made or unmade Celestial Dragon, Hyperborean, Norn Datacore, or Temptation within the last seven days (server time) will find that they can undo those individual crafting decisions for the full Essence values if they do so within seven days of their initial crafting operation.
(Note this only applies to operations within the deck limit, and UI for telegraphing and supporting crafting refunds is still being developed, this is a just a good opportunity to test the system during beta.)

Art/VFX
  • Art updated for several cards, including Decoy, and Biting Blade
Updates beyond those listed above are still works in progress, but are reflective of the overall art direction.

Patch Notes v16

Welcome to the Mythgard Closed Beta! Accounts from the Alpha will be transferred over automatically. This patch “features” our one (and only) planned wipe. • Decklists transferred as “phantom” decks
    • Seasonal and ranked card backs carry over
  • Added 5 uncommon and rare purple cards to tutorial single card rewards
  • 4K Gallery Art
  • New Ranked Ladder season

    • Added new tier above Mythril - Champions, which uses an entirely different rating system. Champions players have their name colored dark blue in game

    • Winning a game reduces the cooldown by 1 day
    • Losses or ties reduce the cooldown by up to 1 day, depending on game length

  • New crafting undo system
    • Players may “undo” cards made with essence or unmade within the last few minutes without penalty. This is different from the former system in that the undo buffer now persists even if you close the crafting dialog across multiple different cards
    • This system will allow players to “undo” crafting actions made within a TBD period if a card is changed for balance reasons in the future
  • Fixed unmake warning when unmaking a card that is in a featured deck
  • Fixed issue where unmaking a card in featured deck would mark featured deck phantom
  • Fixed card completion percentages being wrong when taking into account prestige cards
  • Fix for client lockup when purchasing from the store while a match is ready
  • When opening a pack players will no longer be able to open a non-prestige version of a particular mythic if they already own the prestige version (unless they own all of the mythics)
